Kamen Rider Themes after Ghost
 

Ghost is just starting. True.

But I wonder what they'll do next?

Here's what we learned about how Ghost was being developed.

At first, we thought the next rider series after Drive is a fashion-based rider. But it went to a monster theme of ghosts, but the fashion part were the hoodies for Ghost.

Drive: It is about a police officer who possesses the power of cars against mutant androids.

Fourze: A delinquent student who possesses the power of space against constellation-based monsters.

Wizard: A victim of a ritual chosen with the power of magic against monsters based on mythological creatures.

OOO: A nomad chosen to wield the power of medals fueled by desire against greedy-fueled homunculi.

Gaim: A dancer possessing the power of lock-based fruit from another dimension.

Anyways... back to future KRs.

I agree, we need a Dino ad ninja rider. I feel they would make really good motifs, but they've recently been used in Sentai.

Well, there have been ninja-themed Riders before (ZX, Ichigo Arms), and dinosaur-themed (PuToTyra). But it's true that they haven't been done as full-fledged season-long themes.



Anyway, one theme I want to see Kamen Rider do is masks, personally.

Den-O has done time traveling and Fourze has done space.

But what if there was a rider who can travel into people's dreams? We need to think "Kingdom Hearts"!

Plus for another rider series, the kaijin it faces would be based on the Major Arcana! KR Blade was based on the minor ones.

How about a Film Genre based Rider, who fights separate monster factions who spend most of their time in-fighting (like the Greeed), trying to get their genre to be the most prominent, or only film genre out there.

The monsters' tactics can range from absorbing people's creativity, resulting in a populace that eventually just accepts the same bland sequels and different company counterpart films (like a really bad Disney vs Dreamworks scenario, with no charm or work put into either), deliberately ruining the production of an otherwise good film just to spite an enemy side, or creating controversy for a film by framing the actors/workers and giving it bad publicity.

Is a second generation rider, with the first one using old film reals and his belt being an updated version that uses DVDs/Blue-rays as swap-able forms. Final form is a Director based on, where he can yell cut during a fight and re-shoot it where he wins. Monsters can eventually grown strong enough to resist this by being divas (or just having strong wills, but that's basically a diva).

If anything the treasure hunting rider would be an anniversary type.

He'll be the Indiana Jones-Nate Drake type. I was thinking for his forms to be based on geometric shapes like OhRanger.

The secondary rider will be a rogue pirate. Since the kaijin are pirates but will be based on aquatic creatures.

He is in search of artifacts that hold great powers from the gods all over the world. Think of the game "Smite".

I wanted a Dinosaur Ninja Rider so badly, I doubt we'll get that any time soon.

Kamen Rider literally means "Masked Rider"

I know that. That is why. They're called masked riders, but they're just wearing helmets. I want to see a series where the gimmick is actual masks. Ghost is kinda close, but...

I think any theme can be cool when it's designed right, so it's hard to just pick one.
Although for some reason cowboys stands out to me as a cool aesthetic for a Rider, and I find Ghost's Billy the Kid kind of disappointing in that regard.

I concur with masks, especially if it's done like Ghost's face.

I would like to see another cyborg rider again.

I've learned over the years that it's kind of impossible to speculate on exactly what the next Rider series will be. These days it almost always comes from left field, putting several themes together that you wouldn't expect.

That's just crazy talk.

You'll be saying you want this Cyborg rider to have a Grasshopper motif as well. Insanity!

(I actually would like a really old-school Rider show though, but I think those days are long gone)

I would be down for a cooking-themed Rider, or something involving dreams/imagination. :)

I would stick to a dinosaur-like HULK with the dinosaur theme.

And with the martial arts theme, give something like the four animals and the kaijin as the Chinese zodiac.

Chef Rider - a rookie chef who desires to fulfill his family's dream restaurant.

His motorcycle possesses a kitchen-like noodle cart.

What if KR Kabuto guest stars in that series? He'll be a support to the new rider.

Yeah, I was thinking of a delivery service Rider with his own growing restaurant, starting from the bottom and trying to become a master chef.

And then Kouta could be their delivery guy :lol.

How about riders based on superheroes?

that's the entire reason they are called "Kamen Riders"

I think the mask idea could work, by having the helmet as a blank slate with multiple masks to apply over the face.

By that logic super sentai is full of kamen riders as well. Masks all around.

edit: to clarify. Yes, the helmets in Kamen Rider function as masks. That's pretty irrelevant, though. When I say masks I mean, like, actual masks. I don't mean helmets when I talk about masks. Nobody does. Mentioning that masked riders wear helmet masks doesn't have any bearing on this idea.

That's the idea. Again, something kind of like with Ghost would be cool.

How about for the ninja rider theme, the kaijin will be based oni and they'll blend in the shadows - like with ToQger's shadow kaijin. Following Jackie Chan Adventures' oni masks concept, the oni will use masks to turn innocent victims into kaijin - as their slaves.

That's neat. Really, the only thing I can't think of is how the mask operates with the belt.

That'd be pretty interesting.

The only idea I really have for that is to have the belt have a face, and the collectible gimmick would be tiny masks that you put on the belt face, and then the actual mask and related accessories materialize on the Rider.

(it is at this point that i admit to large bias from bionicle and mask collecting in this idea)

It would definitely make for the single most logical iteration of legend rider gimmick items in existence...

How about a Psychic powers season? Bad guys want to force everyone into a hive mind state, while the Rider fights for individualism. There's a hunt for items that late either the kaijin or the rider see into the future as well as expand one's mental powers.

Victims of the week can be influential people that the kaijin want to eliminate/corrupt, as they're at a part in their life where they decide what their future will be.

The rider could have had an original idea/dream stolen from them by a rival, who now works with the kaijin with the agreement that parts of his personality will be dominant in influencing the hive-mind once constructed.

Hibiki would like a word with you... OH, you mean to transform? I guess. Still sort of seems like a do-over.

How about teeth as a collectible item? Rider can have them arranged on their belt like an old hunter might, and he gains special ones for defeating certain kaijin.

Not in Japan. Those are still way in use.
