Kamen Rider Ghost Episode 8- "The Other Monolith Is Activated!" Discussion
Akari & Onari have been captured! Can Takeru save them? And what is Saionji up to now?!
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. Kamen Rider Ghost airs at 7PM EST during this block. |
Holy crap, Saionji has the last five, and Makoto already has Houdini...that means Benkei is the last Eyecon left. Damn. This is really moving fast.
Also lol, for some reason they just had Makoto hold a Newton Eyecon instead of Houdini? That's really weird. What, do they not have the prop ready? Doesn't really make sense considering they already have the other 5... Also, Takeru: stop using Musashi! Man, this is getting old. And Newton was barely there for two seconds...Also how bull is it that Billy gets two episodes to show off and Beethoven got thirty seconds? It's pretty bull. That aside, this episode looks pretty good. There appeared to be a lot of plot stuff going on and I didn't catch all of it so I'm gonna have to wait to really have an opinion, but I think it was good enough. The fact that next week should be the last victim of the week episode (at least, of those that involve getting an Eyecon) is...weird, but welcome. And Javelle is already popping up, guess he's the man of loyalty mentioned in the title. Exciting stuff happening in Ghost next month... |

Anywho. Now I really want a DX Saionji Eyecon Suitcase. |

I'm all for more Beethoven as well. Maybe more so because Billy's finisher kind of disappointed me.

I just hope next episode, Takeru & Makoto can work things out and make up as brothers again.

I think I figured out why Makoto keeps whooping Takeru's ass. It has to do with something that Makoto said a few episodes back. Makoto said that he "uses" the Eyecons power. TO me that makes it sound like he is in charge of it, in control. And that Takeru is only barrowing the power at the Eyecon's spirits discretion. And by that I mean he's only using the powers to the extent that the spirits are allowing him. He's not tapping their full potential.

I'm kidding. I'm sure his reluctance has something to do with his inability to give up the ghost. Anyway... So yeah, I love how we have some cool and different forms for our riders, and the whole thing is very dramatic, yet all everyone can complain about is how much one character is used over another. It's pretty apparent that Takeru's use of Musashi is his go-to ghost, even before he was dead he was going on and on about Musashi. Also consider that he's been practicing with a blade, and not just hand form fighting. While Newton is nice and all, he's not practical in a gun or sword fight. Robin Hood is also kind of the suck, since it takes more energy to fire off shots that are weaker than Billy The Kid. And don't get me started about how bad off Beethoven is, it takes twelve moves to get a long range attack. Which really is what RH, Beet, and BTK are, long range. Takeru's fighting form is more close range, which means blades or hand to hand is going to be stronger. And yeah, it saves on CG. |
Also, Takeru might just favor Musashi's ghost because of his history with the tsuba. He was the one who's feelings synchronized with it to make the ghost appear after all.

Really, I don't care how much sense it makes if it's boring. The fact that Makoto likes to fight melee with his gun wielding form just points to the fact that the writers don't care about how much sense their form usage makes either. |

I for one really enjoy Nobunaga Damashii's Melee/Gun hybrid fighting style. |
Subs are out.
Turns out I didn't really miss anything important in the dialogue after all. Except for the "people possessed by a Ganma for 99 days are stuck that way" thing. That's gotta turn out to be plot-relevant somehow. Speaking of the 99 days thing...Takeru has a time limit, does Kanon? We still don't know how or how long she's been an Eyecon, so...questions. Rewatching it, the inclusion of Narita and Shibuya in the climax and them witnessing the fight seems like kind of an unnecessary thing to include, unless the point is to use this as a way to have them start being more involved in the plot. We still don't really know anything about them. (two bucks say one of them has been possessed by a ganma for 99 days) ((joke)) |

I loved the show since the beginning but since the last episode this show has kicked it up a notch. Definitely having more of the back story of Makoto and him being tied to Takeru helps and that what happened to him ties back to Takeru's father and Saionji is interesting. I can't tell if Saionji is spinning the truth of the story that Ryu was actually the one trying to stop Saionji from conducting the experiment, though The Ghost teams base isn't really safe when both Makoto and Saionji both know about it lol. I actually wouldn't be surprised if somehow Saionji ended up being Necrom but I still think it will be Alan. I can't believe that all 15 eyecons are already here in the first 10 episodes, man I can't wait to see where this goes from here. I still love the Billy the Kid Damashii a lot because of it's colors and the guns. Also I love the Bat Clock and Spider-Lantern they are really useful devices. I definitely feel Yurusen's line isn't throwaway either it happened with Makoto or it's going to happen with one of them. Also it was fun to see the Iguana Ghostriker again, the CGI does get better so far, though I definitely feel we won't see it again for a while. Anyways I can't wait for more.

I really liked this episode. It feels like Ghost is starting to properly click with me. It's still far from the best Rider show I've ever seen, but I'm feeling more attachment towards the cast (Akari's awful pantsuit notwithstanding) and it feels like I'm starting to get invested in the story.

I caught up on Ghost over the last couple days, and this episode and the last one were definitely an improvement. I'm 90% certain the old guy with the briefcase was twisting the story he told to Specter. The dude does not at all look trustworthy. There seems to be quite a bit of interesting information now. If they only have 99 days, it should be impossible for Specter to ever bring his sister back at this point, unless there's something else I'm missing. Specter's form changes are all badass, though. Love Nobunga and Tut, they just look amazing. I really wish that Ghost would stop defaulting to Musashi, though. Newton is crazy powerful considering he was able to stop a falling island with it, and it can repel bullets. And Robin Hood and Billy have a range advantage. But no, it's just straight to Musashi every time.

This series has been improving quite a bit, and I'm glad it is. :)
The Eyecons being where they are currently is awfully convenient, though I chalk that up to the timeline issues. I do find the conflict between Takeru and Makoto's goals very interesting, and I'd like to see where things ultimately go. |
I finally got around to watching this after a busy week. Takeru seems to be maturing and seems stronger. How did Specter get Houdini and how did Chikara get the last 5 eyecons? This series is really rushing everything, but there must be a reason so I won't complain until I see it.

I'm going to guess Specter's never getting his sister back and Ghost will remain, well a ghost for the rest of the show's runtime. Aran's just lying though his teeth and things will go down a crappier road somewhere arounf the late 30s-40-ish range. |
