Kamen Rider Ghost Episode 10- "The Fifteen Eyecons Gathered!" Discussion
Now that Takeru has awakened the spirit of Benkei, all 15 Heroic Eyecons are realized! Who will be the first to unite them?!
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. Kamen Rider Ghost airs at 7PM EST during this block. |
I hope in this episode, someone will knock some sense into Makoto!
|
I have a question. Being this is Kamen Rider.. if every Rider in Ghost is dead, shouldn't they all be female?

I'm not watching Ghost for a while until Makoto & Takeru start working together!
|
I got it it's just that I wanted to point out specter wasn't dead

That new ganma if probably going to be Necrom. The horn he has in his monster form is similar to Necrom's shape. Plus his Eyecon looks to fancy to just be used for his monster form.
|
^ I think that's a given.
At some point I started screaming at my monitor saying "YOU ARE FIGHTING GEKICHOPPER! WITH A GOATEE! JUST GIVE UP!". Neither rider listened. I would say this was an excellent episode, only because it did exactly what I expected would happen. |
This episode was pretty good, we got a better fight for Benkei Damashii and I'm really excited about this next episode because of all the form changes that were showcased in the preview.
I'm also wondering if this will be the end for Saionji, if only because this seems like his big goal in the end. It's probably not going to work out well for him and he's probably going to die. |
So my opinion on the show after 10 episodes: Meh.
Characters are super weak; only hold together by their stupid one-liners, and even Specter who was kinda interesting at the start is a big walking cliché now. "Oni-chan, don’t become grumpy because of me!", *sigh*. Nothing about this is original. The toy-demos are so painful to watch, especially the ghost gadgets. It wasn’t a lot better in W, they were annoying there as well, but the way they use the gadgets every episode now is really annoying. And then there are things like the Ghosts being invisible. That was actually kind of cool at the start when they were transparent to the viewer but the characters couldn’t see them. Then Akari invented the vacuum cleaner thing, which she always carried around and always used to make the Ghosts visible. Like, why even bother having ghosts then? Same thing with the Spider Lantern: It's now in every single episode, because it has the same effect as the vacuum cleaner. They take the one thing which is interesting about this show (Ghosts being ghosts) and shoehorn two ways in the show to negate that effect in the first ten episodes. Also, neither Ghost nor Specter are using their powers correctly. Ghost hardly flies, never goes through walls etc. They showed he could do it in the Newton-episode, so why not dive into walls or the floor and attack enemies that way? I know, CGI is too expensive, but still. There’s nothing ghostly about these guys. Aside from being invisible for 5 seconds until someone pulls out the Spider Lantern. And don’t get me started on the atrocious CGI-battles with the stupid Iguana bike. That’s borderline disgusting. Designs are meh, the base-forms look acceptable but I don’t like a single form-change. It’s like Gaim only worse. And the Ganma are the worst enemy designs I’ve seen in all of Kamen Rider, they are on the bad Sentai-level of badness. And yes, I prefer crazy Shocker-mutants over bland Sentai-mooks with terrible costumes all day. But every now and then the show is actually clever and interesting. They wrap up the collecting of the Eyecons really fast, which is bad for one thing because it means a new form change in every other episode, but now they can actually do something new. And there are interesting things on the horizon, the Ganma invasion, what was Takeru’s father really up to, what are the Ganma really and what is their realm? I will continue watching just because right now is a good time for the show to prove me wrong (Drive upped the game way too late) and because for the first 10 episodes it isn’t completely horrible. Just… not good. |
I just hope next episode, things will be different. Takeru & Makoto better make up and work together!
And change to a new story after the 15 eyecons are together. Hopefully if Kanon is brought back, what will be of Takeru? |
I'm curious to see what 15 Hero Eyecons + Mysterious Monolith equals to. Seems like Takeru and Makoto finally team up next episode.
|
Has anyone else noticed that in the opening narration subbed by OverTime, Takeru says that he has 16 days left in Episode 9, yet in Episode 10 he suddenly has 22? What is wrong with the people who write these scripts?

i know, i hope for the next kamen rider season i hope they start cutting back on the toys and focus on the story like double. it's one of big reasons i dont collect them. ghost is ok, i just dont like the pointless fighting with ghost and specter, i understand he wants the icons but they should have been addressed after he beat down ghost the first time, at least get the story moving, i mean dragging that, buying toys for every episode is very pointless and annoying like the story wasnt going anywhere. im still going to watch just for sake of finishing no matter what. that's just opinion about it. |

Now I don't feel the story in KR Ghost is dragging, it's just 10 episodes in and a lot has already happened, we have 4 sides each with their own goal (or 3 if you count Ghost-Specter already in the same team), and quite some plot points in progress : Alan doesn't seem human but he has family, that mean is not a Ganma either ? Is he related to the old mysterious man ? Is Gekichopper double-crossing him ? There's something more to the eyecons power ? How is the world behind the monolith ? Who/what kills Takaharu's father ? What that creepy dude in black really wants ? How Kanon became an eyecon ? Does she have a limit like Takaharu ? Who told Specter he needed 15 eyecons to save her ? |
I don’t think toys themselves are what make the shows horrible. Gaim had the Lockseeds and the AC-line, the only thing Ghost has over Gaim toy-wise are the Ghost Gadgets.
And Gaim was a fantastic show, so I refuse to believe that the gimmicks are responsible for the shows being bland. Drive still introduced new weapons and Shift Cars in the better half too. Sure, shows which didn’t had collectable toys had a lot more time to focus on characters and the story, but that didn’t help all of them. I just think it needs creative people in the production team and/or a good director/writer who can incorporate toys without making the show boring as hell. |
I liked this episode quite a bit. We're getting some good plot advancement and, hopefully, starting towards a reconciliation between Takeru and Makoto. I really liked the fight between Benkei Ghost and Dragon Beard Guy - I always thought the story of Benkei was pretty awesome so I like seeing him used here.
Biggest takeaway of the episode, though: I used to have a set of sheets with the same design pattern as Akari's jacket. Only thing I could think about when we saw close-ups of her during the first part of the episode. :lol |
Is it just me or does the Benkei mask design look a hell of a lot like Hibiki? Lol.
|
Iguana Ghostriker using the Ride Boosters as wings from that Movie War: Genesis preview actually looks pretty awesome.

like i said i dont a problem with bandai making alot of toys, it's just how they are written. with drive they spam tire changes in every episode and it's not the way to write it. if they introduce every tire/car in every episode and using it only once and not using multiple cars at a time in the fight that's the way to write it. ghost is doing the same thing that drive is doing, changing into this form and that form and not sticking with primarily form to finish the monster, it's like the writers arent making up their minds on what form they want to use to finish the monster. |
This was a fantastic episode. Akari is so much better than when she was in the first episode, and just with her wanting to save Takeru and try to talk to Makoto was awesome. I loved Kanon's parts too with not wanting to come back to life because Makoto is going to far. Makoto's story has been really intriguing and he just adds a lot more to the show. I love Takeru too and that he's willing to sacrifice himself for Kanon was noble and awesome, I like that he can't choose because both lives are very important. I also enjoyed that he learned that his life is more important to other people than just himself too. Javel is pretty cool right now, insanely powerful it'll interesting to see what happens with him. I can't wait to see the next episode to see what Saionji does with the Eyecons. Oh also the Benkei form is so badass probably one of my favorites. The action is so awesome in this show. I can't wait for more.
