Zyuohger Villains Revealed
1 Attachment(s)
Meet the Deathgalians!
from left to right- Azard, Cuval, Ginis and Nalia. |
The female just remind me of the one from SMF/Gokaiger.
|
I had a feeling we were going to get something like the 80's Sentai villains. I love the look of them.

Really Toei? REALLY?! The 40th anniversary and this is what you give us? |
Not gonna lie. Not to hyped up about them. If Toei were gonna give us 80's villains, they'd give us guys in face paint with heavy armor, by the by.
Here, they're just so overwhelmingly generic. Without the 80's charm of badly plastered facepaint, it's just the generic set of "Guy on throne, big dude, monster chick, knight" villains we always get. I'm not feeling them whatsoever. |

Well I kinda like them, they are really generic though, but most of these villains are.
The knight, block guy, thing looks way to plain to be a part of the ensemble, perhaps more subtle color to separate the look. The female chick does remind me heavily of the one in Gokaiger, and that's not really a bad thing, just not that original. The main guy looks cool, but with the size, seems more like it would belong to his "final" form, in the final episode arc, not straight from the get go. Overall though most of Zyouger is pretty bland to me. Nothing pops out to me as new or interesting, which is a shame. Hopefully the show can do something good, but seeing how things have been recently, I'm doubting it. |
Never watched SAO. Just using the picture to express my feelings. Anyway, I wonder if people don't want to play villains or its just Toei being cheap using VA.

Although we did have Zed in Toqger so we could have another "human" villain in the franchise. |
I kind of like the design of the blocky knight like guy. He reminds me of an LBX.
|
As usual these days, Plex's villain suits are gorgeously fabricated.
- I'm really into Azarudo (I'm gonna use phonetic spellings until something more official comes out), the purple block guy. That is one painful looking design, like a blockier Thing from Fantastic Four. Like, it can't feel good to be that guy. - Kubaru, the big headed dude, is a neat twist on the big-headed alien archetype. He kinda reminds me of Brain from Drive, but like... fancier. Plus, giving any character a rapier is like giving them an invitation into my heart. - I'm getting subtle Emperor Zeba vibes from Jinisu (the big bad), what with the wacky proportions, color scheme, and wardrobe only Ziggy Stardust would wear. Also, he (they?) looks kinda like two entities in one. - Naria is hideous. Those... pustules?... make me kinda sick. But in like a cute way? I dunno, it's out there. Overall, I'm into it. These things, along with the grunts (Meeba?), are VERY alien looking, and that works pretty well considering they're Deathgaliens. :lol I just saw this over on the Zyuohger tumblr. Quote:
Others have noted that this sounds a lot like Ninja Steel. I agree, but I can't deny, it's a good set up for a bad guy group. I'm pretty interested to see how Japan and the US tackle a similar set up. Also, I imagine the whole "Blood Game" element ties into the 8bit video game aesthetic in some way, especially when it references Naria using "Continue Medals" to make the monsters grow. Like, a video game coin that grants an extra life. It's... I like it a lot. Color me interested. Suffice to say, there's more to these bad guys than there is to the Kibaoni Clan already. Though... that's not a difficult bar to clear. |
I am a villains lover and all I see are a generic bunch of villains that look like the Zangyack Empire 2.0.
Man, can we at least get an actual actress for the female villains again? Oh, and emotions AGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaIN?! COME ON!! |
Not really a fan of the female design, but I dig the rest of them.

|
So my new Waifu's name is Nalia then? I can dig it.
|
Continue buttons? Oh man...I wonder how many people are going to say that Zyuoh stole from Ninja Steel, lol.
I think the villains could have been a little more intricate, but I am not completely unhappy with them. I wonder how the MotW will look. Can't wait for this to start, although I miss the Ninnin kids. |
I Like what i have been seeing. I hope this becomes a power rangers one day.

But if you're calling the faceless, bulbous chick waifu, I'm tearing open a portal in time and flinging you to the future, where my evil is law. |

Translations
The Deathgalians are an evil army that has been destroying planets. They have Blood Games to see how much pain and suffering they can inflict upon lifeforms, and as a result have destroyed 99 planets. They aim to make planet Earth the 100th. Ginis: Loves messing around with life. Boss of the Deathgalians. Has people participate in the Blood Games and rewards winners. Cuval: A leader who loves giving mental pain. Azard: A leader who loves giving physical pain. Naria: Ginis's secretary. Has the ability to enlarge failed players with Ginis' continue medals. Moebas: Most likely derives from amoeba. They are the Deathgalian grunts. *So Naria seems to be the Insern of the show and my theory is that the monster of the week will vary depending on who it works under(either Azard or Cuval). And they are a bunch of sadistic sickos. |

Going the video game route with "Power Rangers Feral Strike" and making it like Beetleborgs in "the powers, weapons and bad guys all come from a peice of media that the heroes are fond of and now they must fight to keep the world safe from this particular peice of media" would be cool though. Except with Feral Strike, we won't spend half the runtime hanging out with peripheral characters and their wacky antic that have nothing to do with the theme of the Japanese show, say, a bunch of robots themed after household appliances bumming around a space station. And also we don't have a cast of small children as our lead heroes and a second season involving a triceratops breaking an evil cartoonist out of prison. |
