Shout! Factory has picked up Kakuranger!
Just announced during todays' livestream- official release of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger coming from Shout! Factory in 2016! :D
|
You beat me by 5 seconds Paladin. :p
|
I have yet to pick up dairanger, but it's nice to see this line is gonna keep going a while longer. :)
|
I wonder if sales will be good enough to mean that they'll consider releasing all Sentai installments post Zyuranger. They're doing a good job of it so far.
Can you imagine walking into a store going onto Amazon and buying like...Dekaranger: The Complete Series? Or Gokaiger? |
I wonder if the VS and Summer movies will be included with the DVDs going forward?
|
YES. KAKURANGER SANJOU! ALRIGHT! Odd mentors, ACTUAL American Ninjas and Flower Rangers. Awesomesauce!

Got a screenshot of the box. Looks like they're improving on the covers a bit with the Sentai suits front and center.

Yessss!!!!! Now will they pass through the MMPR era and get to Ohranger? I hope so!
|
Yay! This is fantastic news, nice to finally see some decent cover art as well :D
Which reminds me, I need to go buy Dairanger. |
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Well now to buy Dairanger. I so hope they continue on with Sentai releases.
Question, have the Zyuranger and Dairanger been online exclusives? Because I usually see my stores carry Shout Factory products, but have never seen either of those in store. |
Very awesome news. I know some people will be upset about this news, but I'm glad that we are getting more Sentai on DVD. I still need to buy Zyuranger and Dairanger on DVD.
|
I am of course happy to see these sets continuing. More than happy to buy them as they come out. But come on. Where's the consistency with the cover graphics? The first two sets couldn't feature the actual ranger suits because Shout didn't want to "confuse" possible buyers. But now they've thrown that out to prominently feature the Kakuranger suits? I just find that odd. As I said though keep brining em on. I'll buy them.

Awesome, I still need to get Dairanger might try and get it next month. I'm wondering since these seem to be coming at a pretty good pace I'm getting a feeling we'll be getting more than just the MMRP source sets.

I think they'll find their footing eventually. These are all experimental.
|
Well the cover sure does look a lot better than the past two releases. I haven't picked up the past releases because I disliked what I saw of Zyuranger, and had seen Dairanger: so I might pick up this set, just is it worth it? I haven't enjoyed SS in a few years, so is this series actually good enough for me to spend my money on?

I will buy any Sentai series released in the US even the ones I despise just to support the franchise.

Last year, we got both Zyuranger and Dairanger. Maybe we could be lucky enough to get Ohranger later this year too. I know fan subbers will be mad about it, but it's good to support the industry. If you live outside the US, you can always change the region coding on your computer or buy a region free DVD player to watch it.

Shit.
I love Kakuranger. Now I need to put another DVD set on my "To get" list that just keeps growing and growing. AND it features the suits? Goddammit. |
Awesome. I really needed some good news today and more Sentai on DVD definitely qualifies.
|
Is Kakuranger any good? I haven't seen it yet.

Loved Kakuranger so I am very pleased to see this news. Hopefully, they will do Ohranger as well but I don't want to get my hopes up. Really, the only thing I would like better for me than the series they have done thus far would be Jetman or some of the older Showa Era shows.
|
I've only watched the first few episodes of Kakuranger, so now I'll gladly hold out for the official version! I'm glad that Shout! seems committed to releasing more of these.

Awesome news! Kakuranger's a great show. I'm glad these sets are seemingly popular enough for Shout to keep going with them. They finally got the cover for these to look good as well, 3rd time's the charm I guess.

I know it is a pipe dream, but I wish they were able to do a series every quarter. If they did 4 series a year they would catch up in about five years time to where Japan is right now. 2016: Kaku and OH 2017: Car, Mega, Ginga, GoGoV 2018: Time, Gao, Hurri, Aba 2019: Deka, Magi, Bouken, Geki 2020: Go-On, Shinken, Gosei, Gokai 2021: Go-Bus, Kyoryu, ToQ, Nin Of course, that would mean they would be ignoring the older shows and I'd rather they did Jetman and Liveman before most of the stuff after Aba. |
Really stoked on this, but I should probably grab Zyu and Dai first haha.
I'm hoping they do Jetman next. Between saying they're interested in pre-zyu seasons, finishing the nostalgia-soaked MMPR series, Zeo not being too terribly popular, Ohranger almost killing Sentai, and Jetman being one of the most popular series (especially pre-zyu) I could easily see them going that route. The main series I'm hoping we get at least are Gokaiger, Deka Ranger and Kyoryuger. I also hope if this proves successful enough and they're able to comfortably keep doing the series past Kakuranger and still make decent profits that they'll look into trying to get the rights do subbing Kamen Rider at some point. |
Ohranger might have had the lowest ratings ever at that time, but it did have the highest toy sales ever, so I doubt Sentai was ever really at risk.
I personally would prefer them doing Pre-Zyu first because I enjoy older series quite a bit, but I imagine a lot of the sales for these DVDs is still Power Ranger fans finally deciding to try out the Sentai version. |
