HOOOOOOOOOLY SHIT that is too much for me to spend on dvds

That's not a bad price for 10 discs, really. Especially when you figure in the licensing and translation costs. I'm totally jazzed for the set.

Not to mention they do eventually get marked down.

Just wait till it shows up on Amazon, and you'll be able to get the set for $35-40.

Unless Im wrong, I think thats what the first two were originally? Plus, most complete seasons are about that price nowadays, let alone complete series. Heck, Itll be $35-$45 on Amazon when it goes to preorder there.

That's a very good price point for 10 DVDs with 50 or so episodes. It will likely also reduce to $40 on Amazon.

1. Why do we have to go through this every time Shout! announces a new set?

2. That is a fraction of what the Region 2 DVDs cost. They could easily charge more.

3. It's the whole series for $50. Not that expensive.

4. Back to #1, when it comes out it will be more like $35-40 LIKE ZYU AND DAI.

Well to me as someone who extremely rarely buys dvds because I don't feel like paying for something i will rarely watch, this is expensive to me though I am also low on money

Why are there 10 DVDs though? I own several discs that hold 10+ episodes of a show. This surely could be compressed better.

Back in the early 2000s, TV shows came out on DVD like 4 episodes at a time. That was to make that extra money on each DVD release. But when you are releasing a whole season at once, why can't you compress it a bit more than 5 episodes?

Don't get me wrong. I am excited about this coming out. I just hate switching discs all the time when I binge watch episodes.

IT'S A 53 EPISODE SERIES!! That's barely $1 for each episode. Surely you can support the niche market that is Sentai for that. You have 4 month's to save. $10 a month and you will be all set for when it comes out. Hell, even anime fans don't get this kind of luxury and anime is far more popular in the US.

Because:

1. Toei released the series on 10 discs. The episodes go 6/6/6/6/6/6/6/5/5/5. Shout! uses the exact discs Toei does just without the Japanese centric stuff and has English subtitles.

2. Ten episodes is a lot to put on one disc. The only reason they got away with it with MMPR is because their source was from VHS masters, which contain little quality.

3. When did switching discs become an issue?

Well I have Zyu, need Dai, and will most definitely get Kaku.

I have neither, but I actually want Kakuranger~

So Amzon is now telling me my preorder won't arrive until June 19th. Is anyone else having that issue?

So yeah, Amazon just shipped my copy out. So much for "Guaranteed Release Date Arrival on Preorders" with Prime.

Man, I dunno if I wanna get it next month, since that basically takes up all my spending money, but I also want to buy it since Kakuranger is my second favorite Sentai and a DVD I know I'll actually watch.

My Dairanger set was a week and a half late, but my Kakuranger will be delivered today.

That's right, they were a week later with Dairanger as well for me. In fact, I had to cancel my original preorder and just order a new copy to get it to ship out right away.

Funny how it has Ninja Blue's actor(Tsuchida) and Kane as the known names on that Amazon page.
By the way, Tsuchida is a voice actor these days and was this guy:

Needless question, since I believe we all know the answer, but does anyone know whether the Kakuranger Movie will be included? The Dairanger feature wasn't (they couldn't secure the rights), but Kakuranger is likely a separate deal and negotiations might lean differently.

No, it does no. I'm actually hoping that down then line Shout will be able to collect the movies, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I do know that PR used footage from Oh vs. Kaku, so I have a bit more hope of seeing that get a US release.

It's pretty logical. Tsuchida is in a lot of anime and Kane is in a lot of martial arts movies that have US releases. For all intents and purposes they are the big names of this release.

Nope, all of the movies require a separate license from the TV series.

Ohranger could be an interesting one though since Saban used the movie footage in one of their Zeo episodes.

I had hoped that they would work to include the movie with the set as they now have experience with failing to procure the Dairanger feature. Ironically, though the movie wasn't used, the gattai villain OjaruDaiOh from the Dai Movie found his way in an old PR picture book.

I know that this is fantastical, but hey...

To be honest, it's not like the movies hold any bearing over the plot of the show. At least for Dai and Kaku.

I'd also rather have Shout! put the movies out on BD if they are going to get the license for them.
