I actually like Sun Vulcan and hope they make a sequel series involving three female rangers with an eventual team up involving both teams and updated mecha.

LOL, I kid, I kid. I know people that like the show and that is cool; it's just not my cup-of-tea. It is the same way with my admiration for ToQGer and Ninninger; most hate those series and I love them.

I don't think any series deserves a sequel series, especially the failed sequel series that was Sun Vulcan.

Sun Vulcan's weird with me. I haven't seen it, but already don't like the three male/no female setup. But I do like VulEagle's suit though, badass.

Actually I wouldn't be. A good story that had a great end. To continue it (Especially in this era of poor Sentai (In my opinion)) would be ruinous.

I don't really think Sun Vulcan on it's own is that bad. At worst, it's simply bland.

As a sequel to Denziman, it fails largely because there are no meaningful connections to Denziman apart from Machiko Soga reprising Queen Hedrian.

It certainly has an important place in Sentai history though, being the first combining robo, the first three-man team, the ONLY all-male team, and the ONLY sequel series. Even if the series isn't great, it sure does have an impressive resume.

Oh, there's no doubting that it is important from a historical point of view.

Also, don't let my previous words fool you into thinking I didn't at least like Sun Vulcan.

It may have done a lot first, but you also have to take into account many other factors: There have been no other sequel series and there have been no other all male teams. I think that might be telling of something...
Meanwhile, combining mecha was an inevitability.

It did a lot all it's own, so did MMPR, and I honestly wouldn't take away it's merits (Because it has so few to begin with)

Well, I think Sun Vulcan was the only brand new tokusatsu that aired in 1981. The rest were carry-overs from the previous year. That may have had something to do with Sun Vulcan's good ratings, but chances are also likely that the kids just really liked it.

Also, don't be so dismissive. Some pretty great stuff aired in the 80s, ya know.

It was also a sequel to Denziman, which was also very popular, so it probably had a lot of hype built up from that.

MatrixBeast just really doesn't like the series.

Fair point. If I recall correctly, there were even plans for a proper crossover arc that had to be scrapped.

Given all the stuff that happened around Vul Panther's actor a few years ago, I wouldn't bank on a reunion happening any time soon.

They could always just have the team only show up in-suit. It might be weird seeing them out of suit, considering their age. Heck, it was weird seeing Geki out of suit in Kyoryuger vs Go-Busters, and Sun Vulcan is 10 years older than Zyuranger. But considering Hiroshi Fujioka has reprised his role as Takeshi Hongo, I guess anything is fair game.

They can, but why would Toei bother resurrecting a 34 year old series to not have any of the original characters feature? You specifically said you would like to see a sequel, but if your proposed team up didn't feature the originals why not just make a "Sun Vulcan inspired" series instead?

I don't think they were saying bring back NONE of them, just replace the guy who was arrested. Akaranger has shown up in suit as other actors, and I'm pretty sure other teams have shown up with a few of the members as stand-ins. As long as they stay in the suit, it doesn't matter. They could just grab Vul Eagle, leave the rest in their suits and have whoever they want play it

What I was thinking is have VulEagle and VulShark return as mentors and cast younger actors to play their children to take on the roles of the new Sun Vulcan team that eventually teams up with the new three female team I proposed.

Those are two very different things. You throw out one character out of three something will feel incredibly amiss.

I must have missed that. I was probably thinking about the topic where we were discussing who should make a cameo in Zyuohger, I know SV was mentioned there.

IN THAT CASE...yeah, it'd be stupid to do a sequel series that brings the team back while replacing the actors.

I actually would have loved if they already did that in the show. I always hated VulPanther, his actor's crime record aside. He was just so unlikeable... Which is a shame because I actually liked especially VulEagle II, but also VulShark and the original VulEagle.

I saw the first episode on Youtube. I liked it. Would love for either a Godaikin reissue or a SOC treatment of the mech.

It almost got SRC treatment :( it was one of the first figures to be revealed when the line was announced but then never actually came out. Shame, because it looked utterly fantastic.

So many unreleased Sentai SRCs, such a waste.

Well, I don't think an all-female team would work. We know how female ShinkenRed did with the ratings. Their main audience which is boys will have no one to identify with so they'll lose a significant portion of that audience.

I personally loved Sun Vulcan. It's the only show I watch pre-Jetman.
I hope they'll do an all-male team again. Preferably, a military theme. Red can be a foot soldier. Blue can be a Japanese version of the navy and Yellow can be in the airforce. Then add Black (a spy) and Green (the IT guy hacking the enemy's database) in like episode 9. Both guys as well. <3!
