It's time for Super Sentai #40! A meeting of humans and Zyumans!

Wow. That was actually really good. I enjoyed it a lot.

This was tons of fun.

Well, it's good to know people were having fun with it. I'm hyped for the subs~

I only caught the last two acts but it looked fine. Didn't pay that much attention and the lag interfered a lot, gonna wait for subs to judge. Looked fine though.

ZyuohEagle op tho pls nerf.

It was awesome, established the tone of Zyuohger great with awesome effects and choreography, it was awesomesauce.

Man, I'm so happy to hear the good reviews. I can't wait for the sub.

My toku sense tells me that Minecraft Megazord is worth having the word king in its name twice(for the record, despite me calling it Minecraft Megazord I really like it).
And now that was some good stuff.
Opening sequence was on point too.

I watched the raw because I have very little impulse control, even though I only understand every 70th word or so. I'm not rating it until I watch a subtitled version (and I'm praying TV Nihon doesn't stubbornly go with "Jyu"), but based on what I just saw, I'm actually really excited for this season. The lad playing Zyuoh Eagle is a better actor than the guy who played Takaharu, and it looks like this show has an actual plot!

I could've sworn Sela/Sera's roll call was Zyuoh Ocean rather than Zyuoh Shark. Did I mishear/misunderstand?

You probably misheard it. It is Zyuoh Shark don't you worry. :)

I just finished watching Over-Time's subbed version, and I'm totally sold. Everything from the personalities of the main cast to the claw/foot/fin/wing upgrades to the CONTINUE tokens. This was a really promising first episode.

I'll watch it again because I first watched it as I am emotionally drained because of things in life. I love everything about ZyuOhGer still however this episode felt very formulaic to Sentai. I want to learn more about the characters more, but I am going to watch it again when I am feeling better.

But that Kaixabird though...

So are the subs up now? I watched a bit of it raw and liked it but i'd rather have subs.

Absolutely loved the first episode, the practical effects and costumes where really impressive and so was the overall sound direction etc.

The main villains seem to have a arcade machine type theme going for them, with continues and coins to enable play etc.

And of course, they are hunters and its up to the animals of Earth to unite.

Extremely silly designs and over the top, yet they are playing it quite seriously so far.

Great world building, compelling red, fantastic design, economical character development... Susumu Terajima in a role that honestly freaks me out based on the characters he usually plays...

When I read that the villains used Earth for their game, I didn't mean it would be so literal :lol

Characters were fun, and I do like that everything was lively without being annoying. We'll see how long Elefun's attitude will last.
I also find it funny how hard they tried to make the Cube Animals not suck. So many lasers :p
I might get the minipla, because there's no way in hell I'm buying the DX.

Also, sewing the seeds of ZyuOh TheWorld this early? Christ, we'll probably see him before the usual episode 13...

I like how Red Ranger is not your typical Idiot Red Ranger like Daigo, Right and Takaharu. Yamato is more smarter and more responsible than those 3 guys

I am interested in Bird Man that Kusaka is playing and plus Bird Man is responsible for getting 4 Zyumans stuck in Human World when he stole One of important Cube that connect Zyuland

Why did Bird Man "stole" cube for? I wonder if he become final villain because his actor is Kusaka guy and he is hated by everyone! Kusaka or Kaixa Day? Lol

I like the opening scene doesn't have heroes attacking enemy cliches, Instead we are treating Yamato being a tour guide despite being a Zoologist before meeting 4 Zyumans

Since Tusk's comment about Zyuoh Changer doesn't work for Human, Yamato somehow able to transform but how? If Zyuoh The World was a human or alien, How did Zyuoh The World transform despite Not Being a Zyuman?!

This show is Perfection. Start to finish perfection. I love the Zyumen, I love the enemy ship is a giant damn bow and arrow, I love their ships are triangle things. I even love the ending dance. Naria and Sela, instant waifus. Instant.

If this show is an apology for Ninninger, then apology accepted.

Good first ep. I really like the world they've established so far...I'm definitely looking forward to more! Zyuoh Eagle might be my favorite red i na long while, glad they finally tried something different then the loud mouth hero approach. The other Zyuohgers only showed a bit of their personalities but I can sort of guess what they're like. Still excited to see more of all of them in the future.

Can't say much on the villain yet, the main villain looks like another sit around on his throne type for the whole series...but I do like that he seems mroe amused and interested in the Zyuohgers beating his monster then angry. The designs for the villains are pretty cool too I hope they get at least a little fleshed out.

I lol'd when the other Zyohgers mentioned someone stealing one of their cubes and it cut to Kaixabird holding the it. OF COURSE he stole it.

Only the heroic cube can stand up to the monsters' evil triangle pyramids!

Usually I wait 4~5 episodes to give an opinion about a new serie but there... Sorry guys to not share the enthusiasm, but the serie will need to really show more substance to impress me.
It just reminds me there's still no date for Dragon Quest Builders in the west.

And the transforming devices, prfffmrmr...ahahahah. Shame.

This is my first review for this place, so excuse me if it's not great. But this was an absolutely fantastic episode, I loved the suit designs both Ranger and animal. I thought the whole idea of creatures from another world or dimension, whatever you would classify that place as can definitely be an interesting idea if they follow through with the idea of them being foreigners in a strange place. My only real problem with the episode were the villains, I really didn't understand what they are gimmick really was. However I have to say I do quite like the fight scenes in this, I hope they continue to be flashy like this,like Gokaiger. This episode has me psyched, I hope this doesn't go down in quality like Niniger.:p

Very fun first episode. The scenery and costumes (well, the main ones anyway - the background Zyuman were hilariously bad) looked great and the show seems to be blending its themes fairly well together even if "CUBES EVERYWHERE" is a bit intrusive.

Wasn't a fan of how over-reliant the action sequences were on CGI and stock footage bits but we'll have to see how that pans out in the long run. If there was one thing Ninninger did really well (in the beginning anyway) it was the choreography and I'd hate to see that lost.

ZyuOh King came across really well in action too, but 3-bot combiners for a 5-person team is a pet peeve of mine. I can see the show is going to make quick use of the various configurations but it'll continue to bug me just like it did in Kyoryuger and (to a lesser degree) Go-onger.

But still...a great opening nonetheless! Very promising, but I'm not going to give it glowing praise on one episode alone because I've learned my lesson after last year :lol

At least the CGI seems to have improved quite a bit over the years.

That is true. It was significantly better than what Kyoryuger was trying to pass off as dinosaurs that's for sure :lol

I will say that a possibility I got thinking is that Yamato's father is Kaixabird and his mother a human that made first contact with the zyumans in this case Kaixabird.

This was really, really good. The world building was incredible, but it annoys me that we will have to wait to see more of what the Zyuman world is all about. I love all five of the Zyuohgers already. Like people have said on here already ZyuohEagle is much more calm than the past few reds we have had in the past, which is a nice change of pace. ZyuohShark seems to be pretty interesting as she seems to be the sassiest of the bunch. ZyuohLion seems like he will be the comedic relief of the season. ZyuohElephant seems like the "tech-guy". I imagine we will be hearing a lot of exposition from him over the next few episodes. And ZyuohTiger appears to be the quirky one. It's a solid group all around. No one is really annoying off the bat, which is good. And there are a few standouts, such as ZyuohLion and ZyuohEage in my opinion. Also, the cube dynamic is really neat. At first, I rolled my eyes when I saw all of those cubes, but seeing them in the context of the show my mind has been changed. The transformation sequence was beyond cool too. The visuals have come a long way. Having finished Jetman not too long ago, I was blown away with how much better the flying sequences looked in Zyuohger. Overall, I am very excited to see what this season has in store for us and I can't wait until some of the questions that were raised here are answered.

Just caught the ep from OT and i echo everyone's sentiments - excellent episode, fast paced, all the mecha look tons better than that damn DX toy, effects were well done, just awesome

No it is not "official".Relax.

Sela/Shark is definitely the straight man(or woman in this case) to Leo/Lion's goofball character. Or to use owarai terms Sela is the tsukkomi and Leo is the boke. Tusk/Elephant is more of a wise and reserved sage type than a tech dude. Amu/Tiger is just a valley girl from what I see so far.

Got around to watching the sub, and damn. It was really good! I might actually stick around with this show, something I rarely do with Sentai. One thing I've been wondering about since the stream though... Does this series have a different effects company working on it than the last few years? If not, they've really upped their game, because the CGI and visual effects were surprisingly excellent for a Toku show. I certainly hope Zyuohger retains this quality. On a side note, I also really love the big bad's voice. It's very familiar, too. Where have I heard him before?

Well like others have said this was a pretty darn good episode. The fights and practical effects looked pretty good. I was hoping on seeing more of Zyuo world, but maybe another time. The sixth cube missing is a great way of leading the sixth ranger in.

Now I'm not saying anything definite, but something felt off about Ninninger last year. I don't feel that yet with this show, so I am interested in more, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I just hope the ending of this episode isn't immediately resolved. I want there to be a little abrasion in the team before the 6th appears so that their coming together feels a lot more natural.

I agree. The Sela/Leo dynamic should be very interesting indeed. And I was referring to more of the mystical tech with the cubes with Tusk. Given that one shot of him reading a book while looking at one of the cubes, I assume he knows more about the "technology" of the cubes that they are using better than anyone. And I'm sure we'll find out more about Amu over the season. I'm just happy that she isn't annoying. That could have very easily been the case.

Really enjoyed this episode! Already crushing on Sela and Amu :D Leo is actually my favorite Zyuman because of his comedic relief.

Tusk also feels like a cross between Gao Yellow and Kyoryu Green come to think of it.
