VOLTRON: Legendary Defender discussion
|
Man this show just looks great. Immensely better than the Nick relaunch from a few years back.
|
Samn this looks so damn awesome. I never cared much for Voltron but this has me all kinds of excited.
|
Squee!!!!
|
That looks amazing. I'll definitely be watching it.
|
Looks neat. The first time I've ever been interested in a Voltron series...

My absolute favorite part is the Brave Series style mecha combination of Voltron itself. I love that.

Nine days away! Have two new preview vids:

When the show was first announced I was excited. Then with every following announcement I lost interest. After the last update I read I won't watch previous Voltron shows that I love anymore.

I'll start thing of any one marathoner the new Voltron legendary defender show on Netflix
|
Watched the first seven Episodes of the Netflix Voltron and its pretty great so far. I have no connection to any prior Voltron shows or Golion so I dont know how it compares to those.
But its works extremely well on its own and is exactly my kind of Super Robot show. |
I watched the first 5 or so episodes of GoLion like a year ago and thought it was pretty boring. Every episode was quite literally the same thing.
|
Humour really does remind me pf korra and I love the fact this show share the animation studio
|
It looks cool. It would be nice if GoLion got a new DVD release since Media Blasters lost the rights to it a few years ago. Maybe Shout! or Discotek Media can grab the rights to GoLion.
|
Oh wow its out TODAY! Where was the press for this I heard nothing about this in the morning.
|
Does this series develop Keith as the next leader of the Voltron Force after Shiro/Sven?
Keith takes black, Lance takes red & Allura takes blue? Sometimes I wish Voltron had an upgrade if there was a "white lion" and Seth would be the pilot. |

...I may have watched it all in a single sitting...in my defense, the total runtime is about 5 hours. It's good.

I watched the entire season this afternoon and it was fantastic. Easily the best Voltron show ever (I count the original 52 episode dub as Golion). It had a perfect mix of drama and comedy and the characters are all likable. The twist they did with Pidge was really neat too and unexpected. I also like how much stronger Allura is while Coran is taking some time to get used to. He has some really great one liners though. Hunk is probably my favorite of the bunch though. Oh and I like how they actually gave Keith a personality. On the other hand, while badass, Zarkon and Hagar do pretty much nothing until the final episode. In fact, they aren't even developed in the slightest throughout the 13 episodes (I'm counting the premier as 3 episodes), which really sucks. Lotor isn't even in the damn thing. Another thing that was pretty neat though is they are even using some of the Japanese names such as Allura and Coran being from Altea and Zarkon rules the Galra Empire. A nice little homage there. This does to the Voltron franchise what the more recent Thundercats show did to that series. I can't wait for the second half to premier later on this year as the cliff hanger was really frustrating (in a good way). I'll most likely buy this series on BD when it comes out.
Oh, and I found it quite enjoyable that Voltron wasn't being used every episode. In fact, I think there was a moment when 3 episodes went by before they even used him. |

Notes about this post: I will not use the VLD names when they differ from previous shows because I can't be bothered to learn the new names.
My brother was watching. I see VLD is copying VF. The Voltcoms return, I like that. Zarkon is the original Black pilot interesting. I rather watch a series about his team and his inevitable rise to being the emperor of the Drule Empire. |
It's not the Drule Empire, it's the Galra Empire. Galra is what they were called in Golion.
It's not that hard to comprehend. Altea, Galra, Shiro, and Sendak. |

My only other exposure to Voltron was to Voltron Force form a few years ago. I really enjoyed it and the way Voltron functioned. Then when I heard they were making a new show I didn't really care all that much. Then when I found out that its made by the same people who did Korra and Last Airbender I became interested. Then I decided to check it out and really enjoyed it.
The show itself really carries on the feel of Korra and the animation looked really good. The stand out moment for the animation to me is when the castle goes by the sun. Its just looked so beautiful. I really hope that this season does well enough to warrant a season two because on the cliff hanger that this show ended on I need to see more. Overall I really enjoyed this show. It carries a feel of two shows that I really love while telling an original story. Its great and exactly what I expect out of that creative team. |

Then why are you even posting here if you haven't even bothered to watch it?
And the animation is light years superior to the animation in Voltron Force. How about you go and watch the show instead of posting spoilers about it and how you don't know the names to any of the characters? |
