Kamen Rider Ghost Episode 34- "Astray! The World Of Dreams" Discussion
Takeru returns with even more powers, but nobody can understand how. Is there enough time left to discover the source?
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
I'm just saying this right now... I didn't think we could get worse than Type Formula's "debut episode"... we did.

First we see a powerful silhouette, then we see the transformation, and now finally we'll see it in action next episode. I dunno, maybe I'm weird, but I sort of like this approach. |
Don't get me wrong, this seemed like a pretty neat episode on first glance, I'm actually glad we seem to be getting more exposition. As well as seeing the Grimm Shenanigans, also "I am Edison" making a return.
But I hate the teasing, especially after they showed it in action last episode albeit all covered up. I was expecting a fight after the full transformation, not an Eyecon Count Screen. |

Hmm....so...Grimm Parka Ghost can split into two Parka Ghost...nice....
Maybe in the future we can see two Grimm Parka Ghost summon in human world... Ghost Grateful Damashii become malfunction again and Igor steal Grimm Ghost Eyecon. Ganmaizer Liquid looks cool too.. Ghost Mugen Damashii's debut looks awesome. His henshin standby jingles (battchrimina I think) its has Medieval European Choir and his transformation jingles its very rock music.... Ghost Mugen Damashii has really strong angel vibes and Medieval Knight vibes in my opinion.. Next episode Ghost Mugen Damashii againts Ganmaizer Liquid and Ganmaizer Fire.... Oh...it seems in the next episode, Igor use Grimm Ghost Eyecon and become Ganma Superior Grimm Damashii. He use Grimm Eyecon when he battle againts Ghost Mugen Damashii |
This was a fun episode in dreamland.
Ghost Mugen Damashii is a much better looking suit than that graceful suit. Mugen is the strongest form and has cool white with silver shine to it. The long part of the jacket looks similar to the Shinkenger Super forms which I love. One thing I am getting sick and tired of seeing is Ganmaizer fire. The riders defeat it so many times already. WHY do they keep using it over and over again ugh. There are 15 Ganmaizers use the other one Toei it just getting boring with the same one. The hype is just slowing down for me with the same monster every week. Next week Mugen in action Looks good. |

Yeah...I am really want all Ganmaizer show their monster form.... We still has 14 episodes (if Ghost Final Episode in Episode 48) so other new Ganmaizers still has chance to show their monster form (at least after Fire and Liquid, the other 8 Ganmaizer will show their monster forms) despite some of them not show their monster form.... |
I think this episode is good. We did't have the regular bonding with Eyecon, which spices up things a little bit. Grateful continues to be faulty, which is some what new and reasonable compares to previous all combined power ups (Fourze Cosmic State needs friendship along with the bloody 40 Switches; Drive can still use Type Tridoron without some Shift Cars with no explaination).
And Ganma form of Grim next week looks beautiful, which I think can change the plot quite a lot. What if in the end the Ganma get 15 Hero eyecons and use them for evil like this time? http://www.toei.co.jp/tv/ghost/story.../06/03/5_1.jpg |

Makoto is such a god damn siscon lmao.

Hey, this episode was actually pretty good. A step in the right direction. The guest of the week plot led to some funny shenanigans and I enjoyed the comedy this time around. Plus, Grimm had a pretty unique gimmick.
Didn't expect so much exposition at the start of the episode but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Makes the last episode feel like less of a waste and it seems like there are consequences to this third resurrection. Plus, they address the topic of the Ganmaizer's, the connection to the 15 eyecons and Great Eye, and the essence of Ryu's soul. Also, its kind of neat the way they are showcasing Mugen. They are building it up nice and slow which is unique. Keeps me on my toes for the full-on debut next episode. Looks like Mugen is a part of Takeru, like the Ore eyecon. |

I personally can't understand Japanese, but... I get the impression Mugen is only available to him when he exhibits certain emotion or meets some kind of moral requirement, and only then is he able to summon it from himself in a way that resembles the Ghost Driver. I like that. |
You know, I actually enjoyed the episode. Sure, it was a bit exposition heavy but the comedy! Oh god, the comedy! Makoto being a goddamn siscon, Alan being a takoyaki fanatic and Akari being an out and out mad scientist, no better than Igor (just joking, she is better than him), made my day.
And there is one more thing. They finally showed a bit of Takeru's personality. Takeru always seemed like a generic Kamen Rider to me. You know, I-will-protect -everyone kind of guy, like Kazuraba Kouta (Gaim) or Hino Eiji (OOO). But in episode 12, we saw that he is not afraid to die which was a nice insight into the sort of character he is and in episode 22, he is genuinely distraught over the idea of people dying even if he doesn't know them. And in this episode, when Takeru mulls over the idea of fun, we get a glimpse into what truly makes him happy. Maybe they can rescue his character after all. By the way, I really love how they reveal Mugen slowly and steadily. First an aura, then a transformation and in the next episode, we'll get to see it in action. I also like how it looks. Whitey and rainbowy. Also, I have a theory on why Takeru being a ghost is so important. His father, Ryu, planned for him to have an Eyecon and a temp body like Makoto but that plan failed. Then he extended the counter by fusing his soul with him, giving him Toucon. And then he got the Eyecon Driver G from Edith/Sage/whoever he is in order to battle the Ganmaizers but even that failed. But Takeru coming back from the death by his own will power actually gave him a power up not even the Ganmaizer could have predicted. And that's why it was important for him to stay dead. |

OR... rest in peace and pass his power to the next generation with new Eyecons. MAN this show is driving me insane!!!! |
That was the worst final form debut episode I have ever seen.
First of all, the setup with the dream world is nice and we get a good glimpse on what Igor is up to. Then… oh god. A dreamworld which makes the one thing you enjoy reality is fine and all. But what we get to see here really makes you realize how worthless and one-dimensional Ghost’s characters are. Makoto is surrounded by Kanons because of course he is, Alain eats Takoyaki (WTF) and Akarai – has a lab. That makes sense. But still: It’s too simple. Maybe that’s what they were going for, but wouldn’t your personal dream world be much bigger? Wouldn’t Makoto live a peaceful live with a happy Kanon, wouldn’t Alain rule a restored Ganma world and wouldn’t Akari… you know… maybe get together with Takeru? I don’t know. Anyways, even if it was intended, I feel like this was another wasted opportunity. Of course dreams are simple, but if you can have a world to visualize the dreams of your characters, why not use it to develop them? Instead of it being dumb crap that isn’t even funny, make it so that the characters feel like they have achieved everything, and then make them realize why what they thought is all they need is not what they wanted at all. Make them see that their dream is actually a nightmare and let them find out of it themselves. Instead of wasting this setup for shitty comedy and all it needs is Takeru to shout “Hey guys snap out of it!” and that’s the end of that. And then Onari… come the fuck on. They can’t be serious with this shit. He paints Alain’s face in this situation? Because why? Because he’s Onari, that’s why. Dear god. The Grimms… okay I won’t even get into that. We’ve already seen tons of times that the spirits don’t resemble the person they’re named after, so why should I even care. But lastly the biggest offender of the whole episode: He transforms into Mugen and then… cut. Come on! What? You already teased the form last week! Why do we wait another week to see this form in action now? I don’t care how much time you have left, Gaim Kiwami had like 2 minutes left before the episode ended and they delivered a satisfying fight which showed us what the form can do. If you really have no time left then don’t have him transform in this episode, just let him pull out the Eyecon and then cut. But even that would be kinda shitty. Am I surprised that this show sets another all time low in a category for me? Nope. It was still painful to watch though. And in before we start the “Why are you even watching it?”-debate again, I do it because I hate myself and because I can’t end a show that late into the game, I need to finish it now. |
I wish that Mugen Damashii had a set debut episode because I thought it was going to happen last episode, but that was just a preview. This episode I was confident, but no. They had to make it a two part debut. It was nice to Ganmeiser Liquid. I hope we see Gravity's form since fire, gravity, and liquid are apparently the 3 Necrom guards for Dark Ghost.

I kept thinking that the Kamen Rider Girls, “Missing Piece” was about to start playing.

TIL Edison is Edison.
|
I still wish for an insert song in Ghost. PLEASE!

"I am Edison. I am Edison... Edison! Are you Edison? No you are not! I am Edison!" - Edison 2016

Goddamn i cannot believe how shittily written this show is. The mechanics of Takeru coming back to life, how the eyecons were created (Ryu just kind a. . . did), who get gets to be a ghost, how the fucking alternate dimension works . . .
Poorly explained, poorly conceived, needlessly complex. Throw in some incredibly annoying characters and dangling sideplots and you got this fuckin mess Mugen form . . . already been said, Infinity Wizard rip off. Grateful form, Blade King rip off. Such a pity since Ghost itself is a creative design with the use of the hood I mean drive had its pacing problems but it kills ghost. Lets not even compare it to the ride that was Gaim. |
I lost my shit when Makoto was in his dream world with those multiple Kanon's haha! Lmao!
|
Okay, I do like that the show is starting to explain more of its mythology and that the Gramps/Edith thing is finally being acknowledged. I was especially surprised that Takeru was always meant to be Ghost, but as a spirit outside of his own body like Makoto and Alain used to be. Very interesting stuff.
The rest of this episode, though... ugh. The ghost versions of the Brothers Grimm were both obnoxious and incredibly clichéd, Onari writing on Alain's face was both stupid and entirely random, and the dream visions were far more creepy than funny (I love how Makoto has so little personality that the only thing the writers could think of for his strongest desire was parading his sister around in silly costumes). It seems like every time this show has a good idea, it immediately undercuts itself by ignoring the interesting ideas in favor of wacky shenanigans. I cannot wait for this series to wrap up. I'm almost willing to see Toshiki Inoue return at this point, because while his shows post-Agito may have been awful, at least he tried to tell a serious story. |
This episode was great. It was funny and a bit serious and it showed us how the Grimm brothers act together. Even though it has all of that, it doesn't excuse the tease of mugen! I wanted to see Mugen fight dangit!
|
I lost it when it showed Alain pigging out on the Takoyaki. Can't wait for next episode
|
This was one a fun episode lol. I understand Akari and Alain's whole fun desires, I'm seriously questioning Makoto here but maybe playing with Kanon is fun for him. I mean he really hasn't had much fun for 10 years probably unless it was with his sister. Also Onari is just a gem with his deviousness and drawing on Alain's face; also was impressed by him grabbing Akari's device and destroying the Ganma. It was fun to see Makoto and Alain react to meeting Sennin for the first time since he looks like Edith that was hilarious. Though I think he might be lying and hiding his identity but we'll see. I enjoyed seeing the Brothers Grimm eyecon and the two of them fighting because brothers fight and argue like that, I know I do. I am intrigued how two of them got into one eyecon though. Also interesting that he lost an eyecon, I know temporarily but that just reminded me of OOO and that's a nice touch. Mugen Damashii is totally awesome, I love how it looks and can't wait to see how it fights not being in an all glowing form. Learning more about the Ganmaizers and how they protect the Great Eye is interesting and how it's stopping Takeru from coming back is interesting too. I like that Takeru is learning what's fun for him and seeing what's fun, just an intriguing aspect here. I am loving this I can't wait for more of Mugen Damashii next week and Alain's reaction to what Onari did to him too. Also happy that Spectre and Necrom kicked ass to this week and not chumped especially Necrom lol. Also I enjoy that the Akari/Igor rivalry is still there.
|
I got a laugh when Makoto have an obsession with his sister, Kanon. I thought "So Anti-Hero secondary rider that try to be badass have obsession of his sister?!"
Maybe they are try to give a funny moment when Makoto is surprised of seeing Alain's face being dotted by Onari! It seem the writer like to have civilian of the week to represented 15 Heroic Eyecon I guess |
