Interesting battle between Makoto and evil Makoto..
Makoto in his Deep Specter form has difficult against evil Makoto in Specter default form.... Their battle is draw but Makoto injured...... I am didn't expect when Jabel comeback in this episode and he battle against Aran but thats good thing... Takeru enter to Sanzo Ghost Eyecon and they use Chinese Great Wall as main setting in Sanzo Eyecon.... Finally! Aran can use Sanzo Damashii again :D His Gan Gun Catcher attack when he use Grimm Ghost Eyecon looks awesome and his finisher when he ride gold chakram and aided by three Sanzo's disciples looks awesome too!!! Jabel defeated by Necrom Sanzo Damashii and three Sanzo's disciples. Battle between Ghost Mugen Damashii against Ganmaizer Wind looks cool too! Ghost Mugen Damashii has difficult against Ganmazer Wind's wind attacks but Ghost Mugen Damashii can kill Ganmazier Wind by Gan Gun Saber Riffle Mode... Next episode: Gyro's return, 15 Heroic Parka Ghost attacked by some of Ganmaizers, Ghost Grateful Damashii is used again, and we has new flower-like Ganmaizer? |
Holy shit, I found the a-plot in this episode unbelievably obnoxious. Just grimacing and rolling my eyes the entire time. Freaking horrid.
Stuff with Makoto and especially Alain was much more interesting. And the Catcher's sounds are as great as expected. Javert though. What is he even doing, why is he doing whatever it is he is doing, and what has he been doing since the last time we saw him do a thing (which was, if memory serves, like 11 episodes ago). Just, what purpose does he even have anymore and why was he here and...just, seriously what is the deal. |
I am always think Jabel will become good guy in the future just like Snake Orphnoch....
Yes, in the next episode, Jabel will be helped again by Onari.... About Jabel's batlles: - He win against Ghost Ore Damashii and Specter Specter Damashii in Episode 10 - He almost defeated by many of Ghost's Forms and Specter's Forms in Episode 11 - He defeated by Ghost Toucon Boost Damashii in Episode 12 - He defeated by Specter Houdini Damashii in Episode 15 - He defeated by Ghost Grateful Damashii in Episode 23 - His battle was draw when he against Necrom Necrom Damashii in Episode 25 - He win against Ganma Superior Knife (Igor) in Episode 28 - He defeated by Necrom Sanzo Damashii in Episode 37 Yes...Jabel's is quite active in battle. Adel still has only one time agains Riders in Episode 22. Gyro has three times against Riders in episode 31-32, and 38. |

Still, that's a couple of months since we last saw him, more than a month in-story, and we just have no idea whatsoever what he's doing. He hadn't even been mentioned in ages and now he just randomly pops out in the forest where Alain also randomly appeared. And they fight...randomly. It's like they wanted to show the fruits of Alain's training, but didn't want to have him face Wind because...why? Wind was the reason he started feeling all useless. So they decided instead he should fight a Ganma Superior, which makes sense because it isn't like Ganma Superior are just cannonfodder that get destroyed on a weekly basis now...yeah. This entire fight was a non-sequitur. So...yay, Alain is now strong enough to beat one monster he easily destroyed two of just two episodes ago in his base form. Amazing. The idol stuff was also pretty awful now that I think about it. Last episode it was all driven by the telepathy, but this episode that didn't get brought up once until the very end where it was just handwaved away. Instead it was replaced with an obnoxious generic idol episode and...urghh. Even if I didn't hate the idol stuff, this episode was terrible, and didn't even really follow from 36. |

Instead he fought Javert, who he also didn't finish off permanently, and who is such a low level threat the other two Riders defeated him as far back as episodes 12 and 15. My point is it's a really bad way to imply next time he sees a Ganmaizer he won't be completely useless. |
On one hand, I am sort of happy that Alan got a power-up. It's basically just a repainted Gan Gan Hand with an extra slot to patch in the Sanzo Eyecon but at least it's something.
But oh lordy, Alan fought Javel. Javel of all people. Javel whose only purpose now is to be used as a measuring stick or unit of weight. Like, Onari is as strong as one Javel, Akari is as strong as half a Javel, Necrom counts as two Javels, Specter as three and Ghost as infinite Javels. Basically, there was no point for Alan to fight Javel when he could have simply Gyro. It would have made a lot more sense as well since, Gyro trained Alan, Gyro is an Ultima Ganma meaning that he is as strong as one thousand Javels and finally, Gyro is played by Taikawa Seiji. DoppelSpecter was interesting too. Especially since Specter's actor briefly fought him un-transformed. Man do I love it when they fight un-transformed even if only for a moment. And even when he lost, DoppelSpecter posed a very interesting question: Who was the real Fukami Makoto? Will the real Fukami Makoto please stand up? I repeat, will the real Fukami Makoto please stand up? We're gonna have a problem here... INSTEAD, WE ARE TREATED TO A SONG AND DANCE ROUTINE. I swear, Ghost has successfully driven me up the wall more times then I can count. Just when I start believing that it can redeem itself, it does stuff like this. Why do I even bother. Oh wait, because of Alan, Akari and Makoto. They are the guys I actually enjoy watching. |

I enjoyed this episode, teaching about conviction is a good lesson. I enjoyed seeing Akari and Alain trying their best to learn their respective moves. I am intrigued with the Makoto vs Makoto angle here, and if our Makoto is actually the real Makoto; this reminds me of Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories with the Riku and Riku Replica storyline. Anything that reminds me of Kingdom Hearts is awesome. Takeru helping Honami's friends realize what they forgot and their conviction to believe in their dreams was great because it's good to remember why you're doing what you're doing. Necrom vs Javert was awesome to see Necrom powered up and get his weapon. I hope Javert finally switches sides soon. The Idol parts were a lot of fun and it was great music too.

The Sanzo Eyecon being in two places at once was ridiculous. That's incredibly sloppy.

This was probably one of the worst episodes of Ghost. At least next episode looks interesting. When Makoto's doppelganger asked Makoto if he even was the real Makoto, that got me thinking. What if the real Makoto is still stuck in the Ganma world and our Makoto is another doppelganger?

The Idol part of the episode didn't seem very interesting. For me it went from "You're annoying, go back to Alain and Makoto" to "Not bad, it fits well into the montage" to "Eeeeeeeehhhhhh..." at the end. All in all, I just see it as part bland, part better, with Onari starting the "Honami" chant being the highlight.
As always, we have a subplot that starts out with all questions and no hint where it's going. Two Makotos in a battle to the death. Not sure what's gonna happen, aside from our Makoto possibly starting to "fade" as the evil Makoto tries to take over. I'm looking forward to it, at least. The Alain Balboa sideplot was cool, though why was Alain's training montage nothing but leaping? At least show him fighting whatever the Sanzo triplets were blowing up off screen. That and I don't understand why they went with the "wild Javel appears" thing. One thing that surprised me is I honestly wasn't expecting the Gan Gun Catcher to say "DaiKaigan". That kinda threw me off. And makes me want to get it even more now... Overall, this episode's on the better side of "Meh" for me. Can't wait to see the battle royale next... episode. Right, it's Saturday... |
Yep, that sure was an episode of Ghost.
Last week I was called out for always being down on this show, so let's start with some positives: the idol plot was executed competently. The telepathy aspect was dealt with a little too abruptly (seriously, no one is alarmed that Mr. Bills' new Fitbit allows people to read minds as an accidental side effect?), but it was an entirely serviceable plot. And Koyomi's actress actually turned up for the majority of the scenes two episodes in a row, which I think is a record. :p The Makoto doppelganger plot also has me intrigued. I'm hoping this is some weird side effect of Deep Specter. It's always seemed like a form that would have some kind of negative consequences (besides those stupid antlers), and I'm hoping this is a manifestation of that. Onari was relatively unobtrusive this week. Now the negatives: What, exactly, was the point of the idol subplot, again? I know that the evil scientist whose name I can't remember is still in the middle of his "Take over corporation -> ??? -> Profit" scheme, but I honestly have no idea what the hell any of this was supposed to accomplish. Was it just to embarrass Akari by making her wear the world's smallest sequined top hat? I've pretty much lost any ability to take him seriously at this point. Speaking of villains, I get that a Kamen Rider show needs to have a number of action scenes, but dear lord were the Ghost and Necrom scenes shoehorned in this week (Specters' were legit, no complaints here). Both Javert and the Ganmeiser just showed up out of nowhere for no real reason. The Ganmeiser fight wasn't even a good action scene. Necrom's new power-up was disappointing and cheap, but at least it wasn't just a couple punches and then some CGI. Next week: "Hey, remember that guy that showed up about a month ago, looked like a major new villain, and was then never seen or mentioned again? Yeah, he's back." |
I think I've finally pinned down my main complaints with Ghost.....whatever plot happens to be the focal piece of the episode isn't nearly as interesting as the side plots.
The whole idol plot was so predictable because we've seen something similar about a thousand times before in Kamen Rider: group rejects person, group learns the "value of friendship", person is accepted back into the group. There's nothing really new or exciting there. Hell, at this point, Ghost has been running with so many Rider cliches while doing absolutely nothing new that I wouldn't be surprised if this plot happened earlier in the series in a different context. The whole time, I wanted them to go back to the Necrom or Specter subplots because those are about a thousand times more interesting. Why is really important story-related stuff being pushed aside for typical MotW fare this late into the game? And I thought I was the only one that noticed Sanzo just randomly appearing in two different spots at once. And I'm also glad that I'm not the only one bothered by the fact that Javel just appears out of nowhere to give Alain somebody to fight after not appearing for close to 10 episodes. I mean, I know that Kamen Rider has a fair bit of plot convenience across every season, but in Ghost it gets insufferably bad to the point where I can't even begin to suspend my disbelief. I don't outright hate the show like most people do, but it feels so lazily written. |

Makes more sense than in 34 when Makoto was using Nobunaga out in the real world and then Takeru used Grateful in dreamland, anyway. It's Ghost, Ghost doesn't really care about the details tbh. |
