Kamen Rider Ghost Episode 39- "Confrontation! Father and Daughter" Discussion
The struggle for control in Ganma World reaches new heights, as Princess Allia reveals a startling new ability...
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Nice enough episode, has what would normally seem to be a filler plot wrapped inside of what feels to be part of the bigger picture. We'll see how wrong I am sure to be once the subs come out.

This episode has too much focus to victim of the week in my opinion....
But the most interesting parts in this episode: - Argos is mentioned by Alia - Eddith almost use his Ganma Ultima Eyecon - Alia transform into Dark Necrom Pink - Makoto's father appear in flashback - Specter Deep Edison Damashii's fight - Argos and Dark Necroms apperance in the end of this Episode I am really want Makoto's father appear in the series as Kamen Rider... |
Dang it Adel, you need to be more careful with your Ganmaizer's, otherwise this is what happens. I assumed it was just going to be a more substantial fusion given what we saw from Fire and Gravity. But nope, my expectations were flipped around.
Not to mention I assumed that this would be a standard body switch episode but from the looks of it, it's a bit more complicated than that. That being said, Igor's reaction to Akari raising her hand was priceless, I enjoy watching Igor suffer so seeing him have a reflex now to a slap is just great. |

If you meant a cameo appearance from him, Maybe... |
So the gold and cloudy lookin' Ganmaizers are Himiko and Robin Hood's counterparts, and Magnetic is Houdini's. Blade is Musashi's but that was sort of a given. Hm. Not really sure what the first two Ganmaizers are even supposed to be...hope the Asahi site updates soon.
Episode wasn't too bad, seeing Magnetic Blade just flopping around was pretty fun. Don't really care for the victim plot of the week and Alia's showing as Necrom was predictably poor (what were we even expecting against two ganmaizers anyway) but...eh. Daigo stuff was good! It's nice to see Makoto actually like...having some character? And the movie-tie-in short at the end was cool too, kinda. Last fight of the episode, as in the last couple: kinda weaksauce. A Superior, Superior Perfect and Ultima just...aren't threatening. I mean, it was apparently just a distraction, but still...eh. Kinda sad to see Necrom still struggling against a mook Superior tho. At least we got Deep Edison out of this whole thing. |

I'm sure Alia is still alive. We'll see more of her throughout the show. So let's not panic.

Hmm.....I am really curious about Daigo Fukami's henshin belt.....maybe from Sennin? |
You know one thing that struck me odd about this episode, I get that it's Billy the Kid's turn but... Takeru what were you thinking?
A Ganmaizer shows up, and you decide, "Hey I'm going to use Billy the Kid!" Like I know that's what last episode was about but you'd think he'd be all like, "Let's go Grateful!" |

These Ganmeiser designs are so nice. I hope we see them all. They really are building up for that movie. I actually don't mind since we're getting some backstory on Makoto's dad.
|
I'm ready to be done with this whole victim of the week type deal and start seeing some actual plot. Adel is trying to get stronger, Igor is doing...whatever, and the Riders try to save some random person. Episodes like this were cool earlier on in the series, but now it's just annoying. There are so many plot points that they've shown us throughout the series that haven't gone anywhere...like that whole business building with Mr Bills. How long ago did they introduce that? And has it amounted to anything? I guess I'm starting to see all of the complaints with this series.
|
Not sure why, but I actually kinda liked this one. The big plot twist with the dad actually being the monster is really obvious and I can guarantee that the crooked cop is really his partner, but even with all the easy to spot stuff, I still found this one relatively enjoyable. Maybe it's because Aria finally did something or maybe it's because Onari was barely in the episode, but I really didn't struggle to sit through it for a change.
That said, I totally agree that the overall plot is just treading water at this point. |
Sigh... by now, I am just waiting for Ghost to end already. The episode was kinda cool because of Deep Edison and Necrom wielding two weapons, Ganmeisers being merged and minds being swapped, Igor getting slapped and Alia getting offed (I am guessing that she is in a Ganma capsule since we saw her in the previews) and the revelation being that Adonis and his family coming from another world and never wanting to invade. It's all cool.
It's just that, the entire series now feels completely wrung dry. There is hardly any drama left. Adel is basically just sitting on his evil throne and being an overall evil dude, Igor is/was being a typical evil scientist who does evil science stuff while Edith is a typical mysterious evil old guy doing mysterious evil old guy things. By now, I am just waiting for Ex-Aid. The video game motif sounds promising. |
Holy crap, usually its sentai that is hard for me to watch due to personal taste or it just being crap. To the point that I will drop the series halfway through like Toqger and Ninninger, Never had I wanted to drop a kamen rider series because its crap until now. I'm sorry but I have to let out the frustration I have with this show after Takeru's last revival that made realize how bad this show was getting.
First off . . . CAN I PLEASE GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ANY OF THESE CHARACTERS!!!! I mean even Alain I'm starting to care less for hell the only one of Takeru's group of minor characters I like is Onari and that's because I want to know more of his background that he has hinted to. Igor is a fucking waste of time he serves no threat anymore. Alain's sister is pointless, hell I think Kanon and that useless sister from Amazons did more than her in this show. Adel is just so boring my god do I miss Heart and even the asshole Banno. I don't even think the twist I was hoping for where Eddith is the final villain can save this undead piece of shit for me. They really can stop with the eyecons possessing people because it really doesn't do much if any to the story. Fuck this show fuck this show FUCK THIS SHOW!!!!!!! I thought Ex-Aid's design was really to weird to be a kamen rider when it looks like a MOTW but now I fucking love it if it means this shit can be over! Again sorry but I really needed to let that out. :D |
Wow, look a new female rider ! Guess what ?
A) She sucks. B) She dies. C) She's just there as a minor character for a movie or a couple of episodes. D) She's a competent fighter, has character development and she's active through the plot. Chose wisely ! But be careful there's a trap... More seriously, this was a very mixed episode. It's always interesting to have new things throwed in the plot, like Makoto's father or Alain's sister henshin, but the rest of the episode was deconnected and not on the same level. It make me thinks that one day, I should make a bingo grid generator with all the tropes to KR and Sentai. The "wedding episode", the "vampire episode", the "body swap episode", etc. |
I enjoyed this episode. Aria was kickass but got chumped badly, I really enjoyed her fighting style so I hope she comes back because obviously her body is still around. Enjoyed the movie tie-ins here they seem to be getting better than normal with these in both Drive and here. I liked seeing more of Makoto's past and seeing that his father left after his mother died and felt Ryuu was a father to him too. This is an intriguing switch with I can already tell the thing is the monster is in her body, and her dad is in the Ganmaizer's body. The Ganmaizers are pretty intriguing with how they are flawed and can learn. I love Takeru so much now, he's more confident and not wishy washy from the beginning this is a guy who has grown so much through the series. Also he feels very Showa-Era-ish with always helping people around him reminds me of what Kotaro did a lot in the two Black series. Also he's just such a badass in Mugen, he stands confidently and just kicked the crap out of Igor that was awesome. I feel Alain will get more with his family soon but damn he was awesome with both hand weapons. Loved the fight scene it was so awesome. Can't wait for the final stretch of episodes this should be really exciting.
