Over the last few years I've been mostly disappointed by the DX Zord releases for Super Sentai. SO I've been looking at Bandai's high-end collector line for new collection possibilities.

I know this is a much more expensive rabbit-hole than anything I've ventured into before, so can anyone advise on SOC releases??

Well, it really depends on what you like, every SOC offers something different, combiners, giant robots, transforming types.

Some of the highly sought after ones are: Gunbuster, GodMars, Daltanious.

And are they Die-Cast? Cause they look Die-Cast.

The word Chogokin means Super alloy, or diecast, this line is all about diecast, while the amount of it might vary, it's always present in some form.

Unless you just hit Powerball Lotto, forget God Mars. I've never, NEVER, seen it for less than 400-500 bucks. And thats retail. eBay is.. it'll make your wallet run and hide under the bed in fear.

I think you've confused SOC and SRC. SRC is the one with Sentai mecha...

SOC GunBuster is a grail of mine. I'd love to get it when I have the room/funds for larger toys but something tells me it'll have shot up even more in price by then.

How are SOCs quality control wise? One reason I love Super Sentai DX's is how durable they are, but I fear that SOCs would be tremendously fragile, what with all the moving parts and die-cast/plastic construction.

Not that it hasn't happened, but the QC issue is few and far between, many incidents are isolated cases.

Yeah, that looks cool. I need to pick that up eventually, but I looked on Mandarake and couldn't find it. I'll keep an on eye Mandarake, because it may just show up out of the blue.

Going off the only that I have, I'd say they're pretty durable. Big O feels like has some real weight to him and doesn't feel fragile. I feel like I could safely knock him off a table and he wouldn't break.

Of course, I have no idea how he compares to a Super Sentai DX toy, what with not owning any, but compared to my other toys; he feels pretty durable.
