Would You Like To See an Orange and Purple ranger in the Core 5?
 

As the two secondary yet heavily underused colors, I'd like to see them in the core 5. Would you? What's your opinion about Orange and Purple rangers?

I personally would like to see this lineup

1. Red. He will be leader. He will be serious. competitive and dominating.
2. Blue. He's a genius and a strategist and he knows a lot of stuffs.
3. Yellow. He will be the lovable guy of the team while being a goof off.
4. Orange. He's a loner but second strongest, most competitive and reliable. He's lazy and does not like to be leader so if Red is not around, he quickly pushes Blue to be leader.
5. Purple. She smiles.

Sixth:
6. Brown. He's very strong.

Honestly, no. Purple and Orange are really special colors in that they're not all over the place. I would like to keep it that way, and have them be very sparingly used.

Personally you know me, I'd love a Purple. But I'm sure you could think of something better than "she smiles" for characterization -___-. With the three Violets we've seen (GekiViolet- the "lone wolf" man, and the two KyoryuViolets- the "laughing mad scientist" and his "lacking in confidence, but gained confidence and became brave enough to fight" equally genius granddaughter,) you really could've thought of something better to say.

Wait, how are Orange and Purple special colors? They're secondary colors. They're on equal footing as Green.

Personally, no, I don't want them in the core five, but I would love to see them get used as sixth ranger colors more often.

"Special" as in so far they've only been used primarily as 6th or extra Rangers. Green has always been a core/alternates with black in that regard. Only Orange we've ever had as a core is Battle Cossack. Subsequent Oranges were the extra ranger DekaSwan and the 6th ToQ6. The only core Violet we've seen can also be counted as an extra if you limit the Gekiranger's core team to Red/Blue/Yellow with GekiViolet, and KyoryuViolet is the 9th (and tenth if you count the two separately) Kyoryugers. Even the earliest instance of a Violet character, Wolzard, was only Violet as a villain before becoming a hero and ditching the Violet color scheme for his heroic Wolzard Fire form.

Edit: I've just been reminded that ToQ7, which appeared only in a special after series movie, is also Violet. Again, was a man.

Purple has appeared 3 times, two of which were in the same season.
Orange has appeared twice, with 2 other, disputed Orange rangers (GekiChopper and DekaSwan, both of which were about 80% white)

They're special because, in a franchise with 40 individual shows, they've showed up a whopping 2 times each.

So why exactly should Violet just "smile?"

It's the color of Kings, Wolves (as far as Super Sentai's concerned) and overall an awesome color that never gets enough time in the spotlight. And "she smiles" is hardly a trait befitting of that color, let alone ANY character, Female or Male (ESPECIALLY FEMALE).

Fuck, you think I like the Wonder Gosei Great only because of the name? Yes, but also because of the awesome purple (lavendar, really) color scheme.

Only in pigmentation. In optics the primary colors are red, blue, and green, and the secondary colors are yellow, cyan, and magenta. Huh, what do you know, the five most common Sentai colors are in there!

I like that Orange and Purple are special as well, but I also really like seeing color combinations that haven't been used before (like Zyuohger's!). I wouldn't mind seeing one of those two colors in the main five, but I'd also really be into a Sentai with less Yellow, Green, and Pink (not gonna try and get rid of Red or Blue).

I apologize but a little OT here, I want to see a pure blue that's a 6th ranger, hasn't been done before.

It's not funny. What you said is the equivalent of saying she just stands there and looks pretty. If you meant it as a joke it didn't come across. Not that it would've been a funny joke anyway.

I honestly don't understand how you were able to write up thorough thoughts on the other colors EXCEPT purple.

And someone has a really shallow idea of what female characters are and/or should be. Or that Violet necessitates female.

Despite only having 4 rangers use it, Violet is also primarily male at a literal 3:1 ratio :lol

LiamLee, I think the point everyone is trying to make here is this; You have good summaries of what the color/rangers should be character wise, however with Violet, you simply said "she smiles". Because she's happy? She's sad and depressed but puts up a bravado? Just earned her power after everyone said she couldn't? Violet has been used 3 times by a guy, and once by a female, so needless to say it's not some random color for a girl who does nothing but smile, to use.

On the original topic- Violet and Orange have been used as more reserved colors because they either aren't as familiar as the tried and true Red, Blue, Yellow, Green/Black, and Pink aspect of teams. Orange has been used once completely, maybe twice but I'm not an expert on Battle Fever J; DekaSwan is there as well (hell, Boom from SPD if you wanna get really technical).

So maybe calm down a little and discuss these things like civilized folks? If you thought that description for Violet was funny? Why not make it seem more like a joke? You make the whole post seem you're serious, then throw that in there. More often than not, people, including me, don't find sexist jokes very funny. Trust me, I have a sense of humor, but I choose when to use it.

Honestly, I think that color lineup would be pretty ugly.

Adding purple and orange to the main lineup makes everything seem a bit drab. Those colors don't really pop against the classic red, blue, and yellow like white, black, green, and pink do.

Orange and purple heroes for the secondary rangers would be totally cool, though.

But to many others, it comes off as rather rude and disrespectful. You basically just labeled Purple as an item when you wrote detailed things about the other "male" characters. And it wasn't even funny.

As for the intended question, it would be interesting to see a color combo like that. But as Lucha said, I also don't think it would bounce off the Primary color trio as well as those as the other colors.

I think it'd be cool to have either a purple or an orange in the core lineup, but I wouldn't want orange and yellow in the same team - they're too similar. Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Black might be a good one.

White is my favorite ranger color, so I'm always down to see more whites as well.

I think Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Purple(or Violet as they have called it so far) and the sixth being White would work better.

Battle Cossack is indeed colored orange.

I do find it kind of humorous that people tried to argue that he was yellow until ToQger introduced an Orange ranger proper, and only after that did a lot of people stop arguing over whether he should be classified as orange or yellow :lol

I think the Flowery Kunoichi Gang is the best case scenario for how purple and orange could fit into a main Sentai lineup. And even there, it reads as muddy.

You know, I might actually be into this Blue, Pink, Orange, Purple, Green line-up if the green were brighter, like ToQ4's shade, and the purple was deeper, like Kyoryu Violet's shade.

I think red and yellow are the colors that make purple and orange look a little redundant, and removing them goes a long way to balancing the look.

Maybe it's because his suit was a brighter shade of orange or some people just don't like coming up with new classifications.

This is the reason Bandai gives for avoiding Black and Green on the same team fairly often. They think it, along with Blue, gives you too many dark shades and throws off the balance.

Makes sense. The teams need a balance of "cool" & "warm"/"bright" & "dark" colors.

I think a unique combination would be Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, Orange, and White as a male sixth ranger. I would like to see this as a Kung Fu series too. Red could be Dragon style, blue bull, yellow crane, black snake, orange tiger, and white would also be dragon style.

No monkey style? Aw :p

Oh that's a good one, put monkey style in yellow, and move crane to blue.

I wouldn't mind an orange or purple core 5 character. But I think it'll seem kind of strange looking on the Megazord. Orange and purple aren't exactly complimentary to red, blue and yellow by themselves. Green and purple look great because they're analogues to red and blue, which also look great. That's why seeing green and purple with red and blue kind of makes you wanna throw up.

Hm. Panda, Monkey, Crane, Tiger, Snake, Dragon... replace Dragon with Mantis and you have the main characters of the Kung Fu Panda movies.

Yeah. Those six styles (other than panda) are all "actually a thing" and that's why they were implemented into Kung Fu Panda.

Yeah, I'm aware of the Kung Fu Panda similarities, I just think it would be cool!

Either a fox, a wolf, a bear, an owl, or leopard which have white variations would be cool too

I got nothing on Zyuoh Tiger but sometimes I think white tigers feel played out
