Super Smash Bros 4 thread
 

As you may be aware of there is a a sequel to SSB coming out for both the WiiU and the 3DS. I am making this thread to share info and other news reguarding the new games.

I'm planning to get both versions as I really want the WiiU and the 3DS is not being used as much due to MML3 getting cancelled on account of "SSTTTRREEEEEETTTT FFFFIIIGGHHHTTTEERR!!" and I want a fighter other than BlazBlue, not than BB is a bad game, I just want another opinion for fighting on the go. I was wondering what your thoughts on the latest addition to the Smash Bros series will be.

All I'll say is that it'll be interesting to see how this goes seeing as though it's being developed by Namco of all people.

The fact that this is being developed for 3DS excites me. Any clue on a release date?

@Destoryman: As odd as it sounds I'm OK with Namco helping out with producting the game. Sakurai mentioned making the game more balanced and if it means Gannondorf no longer sucks and Meta Knight isn't something people bitch about all the time, I'll say more power to them.

I'm just so tired of the constant bitching about the balance whenever I read the GameFAQs SSBB boards, especially from this prick calling himself aHappySacka, who feels that Brawl is so bad he can make the same "weak pathetic clones" topic over and over again. I know better than to sign up and join that circus, but when you're looking for help in a game and you find people getting upset over it even though it's a really good game, it can get kind of tiring.

@KamenRiderMeteor: I wish I knew when it's getting released. But if any info on the due date pops up I'm sure someone will let us know. Also I'm excited too about having a Smash Bros. I can play on the go and if Sakurai doesn't go out on his word there should be the opinion to trade data from one game to another. How cool does that sound?!?:D

I'm curious as to the 3rd Party characters.

I'm not sure what to vote for. I'm interested, definitely, but I don't currently have any of the consoles it's set to come out on. I guess I'm just undecided for now. Roster size isn't important, but they can't just not add characters...

Like that guy said, they're focusing on making characters unique. Whether it's defying pre-existing clone characters or replacing them with new ones, there's still bound to be some more variety.

I'm fine with that (I'm more interested in how they'll balance Metaknight. He's pretty much a text book example of an OP fighting game character)...
I just wished to see more characters. It's a mascot fighter, and they have plenty of characters to add :P

I want to get the game , but I just refuse to buy a new system/accessory ! Mainly because the gaming industry is about to tank ;(. Sadly its all going down hill and into the stupid iPhone

well i have a 3ds and i heard you can make custom characters that you can transfer to the wii u version. thats incentive enough for me

wow im the one person who said they arent interested in the series. but i may get the wii u one because i will need a wii u game.

Any Smash Bros news is great news, but it's coming out for the 3DS too? I finally have a really convincing reason to get a 3DS.

I'll most likely get both, SSB on the go is just too tempting, and I'll definitely get the WiiU version as its always a blast to play with friends/family.

A few new characters would be nice but it's no biggy if they just make them more original.

While I understand wanting to balance the cast out, locking the roster at 35-40 is creative suicide. I'm not sure if we even are getting new characters ever again.

But I'm still getting this. We can't let the F***ing iPhone ruin everything with those overrated Birds.

Make no doubt, a 3DS is already amazingly tempting. It's just that I've never bought a system unless there's that one game that will do it for me. Usually for Nintendo handhelds, it's a Pokémon game, but since that isn't forthcoming, Super Smash Bros is just as good.

For the first time I'm worried that the next Smash is going to not go well.

I'm not.
Most Smash clones all share the same problem of "We can't copy SSB completely, so let's change [X]." and end up failures.
Notable characters, the current system still in place, and everything currently is fine. If they're focusing on balancing the characters (Which would just be "Make it so MetaKnight doesn't out prioritize EVERYONE"), we should be fine.

Still I can't help but be worried. I know Namco Bandai does good work and Nintendo loves the money the series makes but part of me feels uneasy about this still.

At least I have New Super Mario Bros Wii U too look forward too. The Wii U itself looks to be a fun system with some impressive lineups for games. But the new Smash still bothers me as to how it will fare.

Zombie thread revival is bad, but there's some news about this game. Though it could just be rumors:

1: Lucario, Toon Link and Ike may have gotten the boot.

2: It doesn't look like any new characters are coming in at this point.

Now I'm more worried than before.

If I recall, one of the earliest statements was that the game would focus more on character balance (To not have another Meta Knight on our hands) rather than roster increases, so the second rumor I can buy.

I'm not so keen on the first one, but who knows. It could turn out to be true.

If the first one turns out to be true I can see a lot of backlash from that decision. Brawl, while a good game on its own merits wasn't Melee and that alone turned away a lot of people.

At any rate I'll still be worried. It's not easy seeing a series you loved so close to dying. I lost Mega Man and Bloody Roar. I don't think I can lose SSB too.

I don't think SSB will die. But arbitrarily removing characters is probably not going to win them any fans...

But with the advent of Gen V and Gen VI on the horizon, I don't think they wouldn't add a new Pokemon to the roster, which is what has me questioning the validity of the first rumor.

So to revive the dead thread, seeing the nintendo direct today was amazing, and greninja announced.....rosalina has serious competition for my main character.

I've always loved the Pokemon characters, but I'm a tad disappointed that one of my favorites from Brawl (Ivysaur) might not be coming back.
I'm fine with Greninja (And I'm assuming that Jigglypuff, being there since day one, will be returning), and Charizard looks fun, too.

I wonder if Master Balls would produce Shinies, too...

More proof that nintendo gives more of a crap about megaman then capcom does.

Maybe if people bought a fucking Mega Man game once in a while Capcom wouldn't consider it a money sink and a dying brand...

The same can be said for sonic look at all recent games minus generation that came only on wii or wii u or ds and 3ds
