OMG! I hope this one will be 10 TIMES BETTER THAN GHOST!

I am felt this this trailer more darker than previous Neo Heisei Rider series trailer......but thats very cool :D

Ugh. That trailer feels more like an awkward parody than a legit Rider show. It gives me a vibe similar to one of those bad YT videos where some guys think they're creating some early Mel Brooks level parody-comedy but, in reality, it's more like Epic Movie or one of those types.

More power to those of you that are jazzed for this, but I think I'll even be skipping the Figuarts for this one. It's not for me but I hope you enjoy it.

Personally, I got some pretty good vibes from this trailer. Level 1 still looks absolutely ridiculous, but beyond that, to me the drama elements felt almost... I dunno, actually kind of early Heisei-ish. Like Agito, Ryuki, or even Kabuto on some level. Not a bad direction to take after how loud Drive and Ghost have been with their side-characters, and definitely a surprising turn given how garish the design are for this series.

I'm still not sold on the suits or the sounds, but things are getting a lot more interesting. Dammit, I hope I don't end up completely loving this show. I have nowhere to put the toys. :lol

It looks like a combination of Drive and Gaim. Though this trailer looks freaking amazing I can't wait for it.

Hmm..I am really want Bandai release Emu's game (full pink Ex-Aid chibi body in the game) because looks interesting :D

This just made me even more impatient. I'm just too excited!!!!!!!!!!!

I am liking this trailer, hoping this one does well it does.

I don’t want to get into this too much because I want to have an open mind going into the show, but I like the trailer. It looks fresh and unconventional, much like Gaim did. I can see why that turns people off but I think this is exactly what I need after Ghost.

I like the actors, I like the setup, I like the video game theme and the sounds are neat.

That’s literally it, I will not go into further discussion, I’ll judge the show when I’ve seen it.

Bit of trailer details:

- They say that Emu is a kind hearted, accident prone loser who happens to be unbeatable as a gamer.

- Hiiro is the "I never mess up" type of character

- It's described as a "drama focused on patients", so maybe a lot of one off characters?

There is absolutely nothing that appeals to me in this. I know my own taste pretty well and I've got a decent track record of knowing what I'm going to like from trailers. That's one of the things they're for, after all.

I think it's funny that no one seems to care if you don't see a film because of it's trailers/designs/cast/etc., but with Toku it's a totally different story. It's also a bit weird that the information out there is considered enough for people to decide they like it, without getting these sorts of questions.

I will probably catch a few episodes at some point down the road. Who knows, maybe I will have to eat my words. If I do, I'll own up. I did on ToQger. For now, though, I'm not intending to watch the series as it doesn't tick any of my boxes. As I said, I hope the people who are excited enjoy it. I'm not going to begrudge anyone who is, but it just doesn't seem to be for me and there is too much stuff that I am interested in to waste time watching things I'm not.

Tokusatsu is more optics than actual story anyways, if you hate the suits and sounds you’ll have a hard time enjoying the rest. So I can absolutely understand someone who decides not to watch a show based on the trailer.

That being said, we do have a track record of shows being absolutely not what they looked like at first, so I will not judge anything Toku until I’ve actually seen it.

Probably owed to the fact that there are so few toku produced these days. At the moment you only have three on air and that seems to be the norm.

Still not really sure what to think. The suits are still garbage, but I'm hoping the story can make up for that.

I love how this show seems to embrace its gimmicks, but I'm still not 100% sold on the suits and of course we know next to nothing about the plot. Definitely intrigued, though! I'll at least follow it through its first 5-10 episodes.

I'm liking the look of this show.

It's giving Gaim, and Drive vibes.

Gaim/Ex-Aid: skilled in their hobby, newb with their work.
Baron/Brave: Knights who are no-nonsense powerhouses.
Ryugen/Snipe: Sneaky gunmen
Zangetsu/Genmu: Similar motif as the main hero, mysterious to the other riders

This looks absolutely amazing. My hype level just shot up so high. I also now want to cosplay Ex-Aid.

The Lv 1 suit looked pretty bad though, I hope they aren't used a ton. I'm also not a huge fan of the belts, but that's a minor thing.

In terms of Gaim Genmu feels more like Zangetsu + Bravo.
Personally I think Genmu is more of a Ohja/Asakura.

Nope, not for me. I'll watch the first episode just in case, but I saw nothing new in that trailer. The same generic character archetypes we have been having the last few years just with really poor costume designs and five times as many annoying characters as Ghost has had and way too much over the top, out of place, slapstick comedy. I miss the days when Kamen Rider tried to not be Super Sentai.

I'm really excited now. I don't know how this will all play out but there's absolutely nothing about this show I'm not at least slightly hyped for.

I also like how the narrator knows how stupid Level 1 looks. Obviously there's no way they were going to play it seriously but it's still nice to see that self-awareness.

Super Sentai at best has the soon-to-be sixth ranger battle everyone else, while Kamen Rider still has the heroes fight amongst themselves chaotically because no one really likes each other.

Unless they get a skyscraper-sized mech or only give the main character upgrades, it ain't Super Sentai.

Because there is a world of difference between paying to see a movie and watching a show online for free?

Anyways, I'm excited for Ex-Aid. I dig the designs, I love the theme and concept, and having toku action with a side of medical drama (House was one of my all time favorite shows afterall) could be fun.

I hope they keep those 'hit' effects for longer than a few episodes, they're pretty neat.

Looks good, but I'm keeping my hopes low as possible. I thought Drive looked good, but the show got worst for me over time. I also dislike Ghost and give up after six episodes.

Drive was 2 years ago and Gaim was before it. Sit down before I take your sugar away, especially as this doesn't look Sentai from what I can tell

Um... you can tell all that from a 2.5 minute trailer where most of the supporting characters speak one sentence? And where those sentences are exclusively terse and moody? And where everyone except Emu and the nurse look about 5-10 years older and more mature than any supporting Rider cast in years? And where these's literally one character, the girl in the pink wig, who seems even remotely like slap-stick comic relief? You must have some magical powers of prognostication.

But you know, it has all those "generic archetypes" like disgraced, money hungry ex-surgeons and video game developing hospital executives. I've seen those so many times before. :rolleyes

It's one thing to hate the designs, I get that. But your supposed "criticisms" are not at all apparent in the trailer I just watched. It seems like you're bringing a lot of your own baggage to the table.

I heard Hiiro is supposed to have Tsundere side

Tsundere is a character who start out as cold and hostile toward another character before gradually showing a warmer side over times

I think Hiiro will start out not liking Emu at beginning but as time go by, He will be more kinder to him

It has a guy trying to be a goofball. The useless female who is just there to look pretty and giving her undying support to the main character. The brooding rival who has to be snotty at every remark just because. The silly man who is supposed to be the boss. The other man, who has heart, but is useless. Oh yeah, and then there is the cosplayer, who is supposed to be weird and you are supposed to like her because she dresses weird and cutesy. Sorry, but I'm tired of watching the same thing over.

Where is the innovation? Where is the new feel? Where are actors that don't look like they were just in the last 4 Kamen Rider series? Everyone looks the same. I want new. I want unique. I want Toei to stop hiding in the safe zone and actually go back to taking risks with innovation.

As for slapstick, did you not see the scene where he transforms and is as fat as Kingpin? Yeah, I get it that it's supposed to be like the armor mode of Kabuto, but come on. It's not funny, it's not cute, it's just stupid.

Yes, because only Sentai can have goofy people. Yuusuke acted goofy at times, Agito tennised with a frying pan, Shinj Kido played footy in his office, Takumi's introduced looking for stolen underwear, Kenzaki gets kicked out by a granny and is scared by her, Tendou frantically buys more meals for lottery tickets, literally all of Den-Oh, Shotaro was a goofball, Eiji was a goofball, Gentarou was a goofball, Kouta was a goofball at first, Shinnosuke was a goofball at first, and that's ONLY the main characters of what I've seen and remembered. Even then, it's not like CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT exists in drama shows like KR.

'cosplayer' we've had comedic characters before with varying results, but the way they work is how they react to situations and their personalities

Not to mention the new video game theme, the apparent focus on patients hasn't really been done, doctors were only done by Birth iirc, etc. Oh, and again, character development might prove unique shit, as Drive proved to be quite different late game compared to other shows. Oh, and Gaim was very innovative for Neo-Heisei standards

'slapstick chibisuits' Humour is subjective, I find the chibis to be cute too, as it's also subjective. Plus, from what we know, the only wacky thing about the chibi forms is the fact they are chibi. They were made to perform surgery on victims on Bugsters or something

It's fine to dislike it based on the trailer. It's fine being unsatisfied with Rider for a few years. But it's not fine to pull shit out of your ass

The innovation is absolutely nowhere when you only look as skin-deep as humanly possible. At this rate you may as well complain that the show features a protagonist and will have episodes that are roughly 22 minutes long.

First off: I empathize with your desire for something new. But...

I think it's ridiculous that you're so certain who these characters are based on a 2.5 minute trailer where each member of the supporting cast has one line. The entire function of these trailers is to reduce complex stories and characters into easily digestible, bite size pieces so they can be sold to audiences who are expecting a recognizable product. Do you really expect nuanced, iconoclastic characterization from a format like that?

Is it possible that you'll end up being right, and these people will be nothing but hollow archetypes? Yes! But it's impossible to determine that from a 2.5 minute trailer, especially when that trailer is designed to appeal to very young children.

You don't think these suits and designs are innovative and new? You don't think they're taking risks by going with a wildly different aesthetic? Not liking how this show looks doesn't suddenly negate all of the new, unique things they're doing visually. It seems like you're overlooking all of the elements that are new and different just because you don't like them.

But setting aside the fact that they are very obviously doing a lot of things that are new and different -- you're acting like Kamen Rider is the most innovative franchise on Earth. I'm gonna call BS on that -- it's really not. Every season shares a lot of the same details, and they all employ the same tropes, going back 45 years. This franchise is not based on huge revolutions in content from year to year, it's about subtle variations on the same themes. Over decades things may appear to change a lot, but from show to show things are usually very similar.

I wouldn't say LVL1 Ex-Aid is doing anything overtly slapstick-y in the footage, but I do agree that it is the element of the show I don't quite understand yet. I'm skeptical about the LVL1 form -- in fact, I'm really, really nervous about it -- but I'm going into the show with an open mind.

Kain, I don't want you to think that I'm saying your opinion is wrong, or that you absolutely have to like everything you're seeing. I'm not -- you can feel however you like. I just think you're leaping to a lot of conclusions that aren't necessarily supported (and in some cases are completely contradicted) by the information we've been presented.
