50th Anniversary
Okay, I know we have tons of speculation/opinion threads. But this thought occured to me earlier and it I just figured it would be more of a thread starter instead of a general question thread question.
So, on to the question. This year marks the 45th Anniversary. In five years we'll reach the big 5-0. Half a century. Two Quarters. SO I can't help but ask. In your opnion, both personal and by viewing the current way the series is going, what do you think will happen in 5 years? Which direction will they go for the 50th? Should they go even further down this road or maybe take a step back and do something similar to the memory of Ichigou/Nigou? Which way would you go if you were in charge of the 50th? Please keep this civil people. No need to hurt peoples feelings or argue your points to the point where an actual argument starts. KEEP. IT. CIVIL. PLEASE. :lol |
It would be nice to get a legit cyborg as a Rider again. I think they could pull it off well enough while still being creative about it.
I don't know what they could do exactly, but I do definitely think it should stand on it's own rather than Decade's constant references. I do want them to have about 2 riders, though. It's the magic number, after all :p (If they really want to kick it old school, they should have the second rider take over the show for the middle portion of the series :lol) Also, guest stars. Fuck AU, gimme the original actors. I don't need them in meaningful roles or even playing their original characters. Have Tendou's actor be a character of the week who needs our rider's help. Have Hibiki's actor camping or something. ...Unless they get Satoh back. Then have him be Den-O again. |

No but really, I'd love to see a next-generation Showa series. I think there's a lot of potential in making another show with a premise like that. It'd be super appropriate for the 50th anniversary and I'd love to see old-school story concepts meet new-school writing and special effects. That's such a good idea I'm going to be disappointed when the 50th anniversary show just turns out to be nothing special. |
Hard to say since we don't know what will happen with the series in a few years from now. Personally I would like to see a new cyborg rider and they can still do a gimmick out of the theme by having him transform with multiple forms.
|
If they can give Amazon a new show and make two protagonists, they can make cyborgs again. They've already shown a willingness to revisit old themes, now run with that.
|
I'm with everybody here in that I'd like to see an old school premise with new school production and pacing.
|
I would like to see something like that too.
Or like a small show of like 20 episodes or something with just a random collection of riders (depends on what actors they can get) having to team up together against some enemy. Either way I kind of want them to do something like amazons where it doesn't take over the main show. |

I'd like to see something like a modern ensemble show (i.e. several Riders introduced early on, with motivations and goals that aren't always in alignment), but with one Rider being of cybernetic origin, one Rider getting his powers from a mystical source, and one Rider being organic / mutated. Belts and powers would work differently for all three.
...Basically I want Kamen Rider Agito, but with more modern Rider storytelling and gimmicks. |

I want Hibiki to hit the reset button from episode 30 onward. I know they'd have to recast Asumu, but I think they'll be able to find a kid who has the chops to do it.
|
I'm on board with the cyborg idea all the way - but have him be a villain - a true, brain controlled Shocker Rider and the good guys are a gaggle of former friends and other Riders that he plows through, with other Shocker Riders / Monsters as his allies. The set up would be just like a regular show, but the sides reversed. Until, of course, he gets double crossed, left for dead, rescued and realizes that he's been manipulated for twenty five episodes. Then it's a Revenge Rider series.

Anyway, if we're talking shows that could use epilogues, how about Faiz? Kamen Rider Wars and Yongou were sort of the Faiz fanfics I never knew I wanted, but they deliberately dance around the details, so there's plenty of room still left to explore. |

Wanted to become an Oni because it would make him a greater person than his dad. (Not in the "My dad was a great guy, but I want to live up to/ be better than him." kinda way, the "I gotta surpass my father for glory!") Constantly competed with Asumu to become Hibiki's student even after Asumu decides not to become an Oni. When tasked with running a couple miles as part of his training. Decides to call a taxi, rides to the finishing line, and calls it a day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ultimately got to be an Oni. And not only did Asumu not get to be an Oni despite being way more worthy, but apparently the production team later confirmed that Asumu's Oni costume was scrapped to make Kiriya's suit look better. |
Yeah, Kiriya kind of sucks. They show him acting a bit more humble in the end but because you don't actually see the growth it comes off half-baked. I should probably clarify I mostly think that one particular element of the finale is dead-on. The rest is pretty much par for the course with the retool, so mediocre at best.

Why are people saying it needs to reset from Ep.30 onward...? Hibiki is the type of show that needs to reset IN GENERAL....Even though I do find the first half slightly better, I honestly don't see much of any redeeming qualities that the show had even before the writing change. The ONLY legitimately good characters the show had were Todoroki & Zanki. Their relationship was the only thing that was truly good in the show. Even though I did appreciate what they were doing with Asumu being the actual main protagonist & not Hibiki, I didn't ever really understand the point of Asumu constantly hanging around Hibiki & the gang and yet not contributing much of anything to the team until he decides to try & be Hibiki's disciple, and that's only triggered by Kiriya's introduction...
The show really didn't show much of any logical plot going on as far as I could tell......It seemed VEEEEEEERY MotW material, with the only huge gamechanger of that being the Finale, which by the way didn't really show much to hype itself up as a "final battle." Hibiki in all was a huge borefest honestly, and I honestly think it's one of the worst Heisei Kamen Rider Series, even worse than Decade. At least Decade, as nonsensical as its plot was, still had more potential leads that it gave for its story. |

People loved Hibiki for the mundaneness it carried for the first 29 eps. Takatera was all about breaking the mold when it came to his two Rider shows but his auteur side probably took a toll on Toei and Bandai during Hibiki cause stuff is pointless if you cannot make money no matter how good of a story with shows like Kamen Rider.
But to get back on track, for its 50th year I would like to see a man out of time ordeal going for it. |
Eh. I had an Idea but it seemed silly the more I typed.

How fun would it be for our new main character to walk into a cafe, and on the first table, we see Ichigou and Fourze having a conversation, the next table we have Shotaro, Philip, and Shin chilling out, and Kivala and Chalice (Blade) are behind the counter? :p |

Not necessarily frozen in ice but you know what I mean. From there we add a pinch of Goku so that have it he was supposed to be a killer machine only to be a goofball due to a malfunction of some sort but when it is time, HE KEEPS IT REAL. And to make it more anniversary appropriate we have the guy frozen in time on April 3rd, 1971, the day episode 1 of Kamen Rider was aired in Japan. |

Maybe pull an Ultraman Leo and have it be a de-powered Wizard? I'm kind of amazed how much potential there is here. Why were you embarrassed to suggest this? Quote:

So I just realized I never actually said what my idea for a 50th anniversary was and just did a mini-rant about Kiriya from Hibiki. So yeah, going back to the topic of this tread.
My idea for a 50th anniversary would be a multi-rider series. Where dimensional travel and scientific interaction with each dimension's rider's has caused this technological boom resulting a setting where anybody can use any of the rider systems. And the show would be about the MC and his/her friends going to Kamen Rider University and studying of the riders throughout history in order to figure out what kind of rider they all want to be like when they graduate. Oh and there's some high school-esque drama or something that results in various fights with other students armed with their own rider belts, so that toei can sell toys and stuff. |
Another Decade show. Only y'know
Actually good. Call it Kamen Rider Century or something |
