How's Jungle Fury?
RPM has been a fantastic show, and itm akes me want to get back into Power Rangers stuff. I like Gekiranger's designs and still might check out that show, but how is its PR adaption, Jungle Fury? Pros and cons!
|
i never watched enought to give you an informed opion so take my opion as you will but wat i did see makes me want to punch ponies in the face! if i where you i would watch gekiranger and not touch fury with a ten foot pole.
|
Doesn't hold a candle to Geki at all. ADR voices are VERY forced and sound horrible IMO. Only decent part is RJ, but I honestly would go for Geki first. As for PR, I dunno what to suggest.
But of course, this is my own biased feelings on the matter. |
rj is creep - rj want them not used masting their zords
|
Jungle Fury was one of the better adaptations. The actors they found are excellent, especailly RJK/Wolf Ranger. The storyline is pretty decent, especailly once they introduce the Phantom Beast Generals. The only real con is that annoying fly Camille spits out during every Zord fight that commentates. Ignore that minor annoyance, and the rest of the show is excellent.

And yeesh there's alot of hate on these forums o_o Be happy people! Don't Hate, Appreciate!

It's....not great.
The actors are pretty bland save for RJ (who is by far and large the highlight of the series) and the story has its ups and downs but only REALLY picks up well toward the end. It wins points for having some US only rangers though. But like ArmorhideMB2 and MomoPink said, its nowhere near as good as Gekiranger so if you're not against checking out the sentai equivalent instead give it some thought. |
I never saw Jungle Fury when it aired, so I have been watching it online and so far (about 8 eps in) I am digging it. I really like the martial arts angle, and RJ is a funny "master" character. The baddies are very nice as well.
The heroes are fairly bland as others have said. But that is a trait which the majority of PR shows have had since Time Force ended. Overall though I am enjoying the show. One word of warning, the theme song is terrible. |
Far from perfect but I watched it all without wanting to smash my head in, which is more than can be said for a few other seasons.

Funnily enough, what prompted me to watch Jungle Fury was the theme song! I liked it for some reason.
In my view, Jungle Fury is one of those underrated seasons. It's usually listed on many people's most hated list, and I really don't see why! Sure enough, it feels bland at times, but it's still definitely competent. Most of the characters, even Casey who grated on my nerves in the first few episodes, get interesting and relatable later on. Besides that, you've got the amazing RJ, who is one of the better Rangers in the entire Power Rangers saga, some decent fights, decent chemistry between the characters and more. There are a few problem, namely a lack of "bling", occasional overuse of the slow-motion explosion effect, and inconsistent and occasionally draggy pacing. In the end, it's not an excellent season, but I enjoyed it greatly. I definitely found it more fun than Samurai, for instance. Finally, I'm going to say something blasphemous: I finished Jungle Fury, but gave up on Gekiranger 4 episodes in. Probably irrelevant, but I thought it might be interesting. :D |
Jungle Fury is okay. Honestly, of all the PR seasons I've watched it's the one that I always tend to forget exists. That's not to say it's bad (especially coming after Operation Overdrive), just that very little about it sticks in my memory.

I'm sure Gekiranger is it's own kind of good, but aside from Samurai I've yet to see a PR vs Sentai that the shows were similar enough to make a direct comparison with an outright winner. I'm betting Geki vs JF is more like Deka vs SPD. Both good in their own ways and everyone has their preference of the two. From what little I've seen of Geki, I prefer JF, but I'm not gonna object to watching it someday because one is "better." PS I agree, the fly is annoying as hell and ruins a lot of great zord battles...need to check if he's in Gekiranger too. |
I thought the Fly was an American thing, but sad to say he's a carryover from Gekiranger. I do believe though, that he gets interesting in both series towards their respective ends.
|
If the Gokaiger adaptation brings past rangers back RJ is near the top of characters I'd like to see return.
|
I thought it was another rough translation of the Sentai version. The Spirit/Phantom Beasts/Rangers were pretty neat, but the stories (in my opinion) were bland. RJ and Dominic made the show though, I think Dom is my favorite "almost 6th" Ranger ever.
|
I liked it more than Overdrive which isn't saying much but found the finale to be disappointing. But the zords were pretty cool
|
There were some really bad moments in the series, but it had it's good points which kept it enjoyable. Overall it was a decent show. I recently rewatched a couple eps on Nick and it made me want to rewatch the series again.

I'm through episode 20 (Dash For The Dagger) on Jungle Fury and overall I am enjoying the series. It's not my favorite but it has a high action quotient and none of the characters are overly irritating. Of the good guys, RJ is the real standout. Great character. I really like Jarrod/Dai Shi and Camille as well. Their story has captured my interest.
Is it weird that I really like the Jungle Pride Megazord but think the Wolf Pride Megazord is pretty lame? Jungle Master Megazord is pretty good as well but I really liked that first iteration. Simply replacing the Cheetah with the Wolf is not very creative to me. Plus it leaves Lily out of the equation entirely, when you think about it. But yeah. 2/3rds of the way though, and this series has been a lot more "hit" than "miss" for me. |
It's weird. It was a terrible show, but there was so much potential there. All the usual Disney things that made PR annoying were there...the horrible music, the screaming like you're on fire when having normal conversation in suit, the pewpewpew sound effects, the slow motion fights, the explosions, and I felt like it TRIED to have a great story, but there just wasn't enough put into the show resources wise at that point to elevate it to greatness.
Even though there were three Rangers initially, they still didn't give them good characterization...you felt moments of character peeking through and that's what made it so frustrating. Like that episode where AmericanGekiBlue and AmericanGekiChopper go and try to find his dagger thing...I felt like the characters almost had personalities. I thought RJ was absolutely fantastic though. Like the Mack story in Operation Overkill, RJ was totally out of place in how awesome he was in this show. Of course he became less awesome when he became AmericanGekiViolet because then he started doing all those goofy things that I talked about before during the fights, and he became less important too for some reason....but yeah. Summing it up...massive missed potential. |
I love the theme song, dunno why its hated. Very catchy and find myself humming/singing it frequently at work. I thoroughly enjoyed the series, and the theme of redemption and forgiveness at the end...themes well suited towards children and adults alike. Id definately say its worth watching

I'm at episode 26 (the Masters/Spirit Rangers just got saved from the Phantom Beast Generals) and I am still enjoying the show. I am really digging the court intrigue with Dai Shi and Camille at the Temple, totally digging on RJ as a Ranger, and enjoying the stuff with Dom and the Masters. And Flit continues to amuse me. There was a great scene a few episodes back where he popped out to talk with Camille during a Zord fight, but then Dai Shi walked up and he shouts "Ulp! Three's a crowd!" and gets the hell out of dodge! :lol
The Overlord story arc was really strong, I thought, and I liked how they shrugged off a lot of what the Rangers threw at them. Carnisoar, for instance, took a huge beating before he went down, and I liked seeing that. As for the theme, it's just so silly. The little call-and-respond of "Dai Shi!" "Go away!" just makes me shake my head every time I hear it. :lol |
And apparently RJ was that guy who lost his phone in Touch..that new Jack Bauer show.
(...or at least I wish it was a Jack Bauer show... :-( ) |
I'm seriously considering Zazzle'ing a Jungle Karma Pizza shirt.
|
I have also come to the conclusion that Casey has the greatest confused/shocked/disbelief response of any Ranger in history. Just watched the episode where three Phantom Beasts ambush Camille and Jarrod makes the save, with Casey catching the action. He nails his line of "What is going on here?!" and it's freaking hilarious. :lol
That's right up there with the Five Fingers of Poison episode where he gets poisoned and his response is insane. "Poison?!" :lol |
Alright, I just finished watching the series. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I grew to like the main heroes, and the villains were good throughout. RJ is a great character both as a mentor and a Ranger. I really liked all the intrigues with Dai Shi and Camille at the Temple. That was really well executed. The Masters and the Spirit Rangers were cool too. I still liked the Jungle Pride Megazord better than all the others which came after it, but that's alright.
Complaints? Well the ending was a little bit rushed. A 2 part finale would have been much appreciated. although the resurrection of all the past monsters was nice. Dominick doesn't get enough attention. The Solar Morphers were a little silly. Overall I enjoyed the show and am glad I watched it. |

Did it ever appear on its own? My memory of the series is hazy, but I thought it only appeared as part of the Jungle Pride charge.

Yeah, that is it's only appearance (I just saw the episode yesterday). Still pretty awesome though!

To me Jungle Fury brings back fond memories of my 3 year old son and I sitting on the couch watching it on TV. The story was OK. It's not the best and the worst either. But it's that theme song that gets stuck in your head.
Check this out. Got to 3:05 in the video. IMHO it's the best use of the theme song and it's being used in the best battle scene in the series. It also shows how badass RJ is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY5pjcrdXYA |
I'm just editing all i of this post out because, looking back on it, it may have been the most stupid thing I posted. I don't know what I was thinking when I posted it. I'm just glad the only one who responded was kind about correcting me. I'm sorry I posted that and I hope anyone who read it can forgive me.
