Zyuohger Episode 32- "The Heart Has 2 Faces" Discussion
The latest Dethgalien has the ability to reveal a persons' "Inner thoughts" to bring out conflict. Things don't end well when Misao gets caught in the fights...
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Episode 32 was pretty cool. Let's hope Misao will not forget what he learnt today in his next episode. Not sure why Misao suddenly want to team-up with Yamato when he play Tusk's BFF since episode 21, but just like episode 21, it's one of the few times we get a duo episode for Misao where the other character is not just here to teach something to him (And both where Tusk/Misao focus :p)

I liked it. Misao's lesson was something he definitely needed. While I hope it's not applied all at once, I do hope his self esteem improves to at least get more angry when unintentionally insulted.
It was a pretty fun episode, over all. I loved Leo basically becoming a nicer guy while under the switch effect :lol I always enjoy episodes where they let everything out so hidden annoyances are finally spoken. It seems Leo had the right idea all along some 5 or 6 episodes back. I also kind of loved the final joke. Poor Tusk, even when part of the awkward combination, he can't get any love~ |
Old Sentai cliche that Zyuohger manages to make immensely entertaining again. Misao was hilarious and the joke at the end was also funny (poor Tusk...).

Well played, Zyuohger. I whine about the characters not being fleshed out enough and then BAM! here comes an amazing character-driven episode. You know it's good because even though it's ultimately about Misao everybody else gets great moments too. Random thoughts:
- I'm really happy to see another simple MotW plot. I felt like Bunglay kind of hijacked the whole show the past... 6 episodes? It felt really long is the point. Apparently the show even agreed with me. - The little red eyes on the helmets was adorable. - I love how Leo is completely unaffected by the monster. That is seriously genius on a level that instantly made me go "huh, maybe I'm not appreciating Leo enough", which is exactly what an episode like this should make me think. - Being the big Yamato fan I am it was actually really funny to see him get picked on for being obnoxiously polite about everything. - Similarly, the end bit with Misao was great. He knows where the real action's at. :p - Does anyone ever get the feeling there was some robot the Zyuohgers used to use that they don't anymore? I think it's name was, like, King-something or something-King. Eh... I'm probably just imagining things. |
The episode made me realize how good Leo is. Guy wears his emotions on his sleeves, so of course he doesn't have any hidden annoyances with the others. He always let it out :p
As for King, it's just one of those unavoidable problems. If they use ZyuohKing, the complaint would be along the lines of "Why are they using the obviously weaker mech?" |

Not every series can be Go-Busters, unfortunately. Even if, say, Misao was indisposed, they'd just go to Wild Zyuoh King rather than Wild or King individually.

Knowing Zyuohger, they might very well just go to Wild Tousai King even without Misao anyway. Empty Cockpit Syndrome is always a fun part of last-third Sentai, too. Yamato's seat was so lonely this episode... |
Don't worry! Once we get Wild Tousai Dodeka King, every cockpit will be filled!

Damn, Misao really is a gift that keeps on giving, this episode was hilarious.
And I'm also glad we're back to the Blood Game and thus a good MOTW episode with some nice character development, I especially love how they even made fun of it: "Feels like it's been a while since we've done something like this." :lol Oh Zyuohger, I wish you could run forever, I’d watch an episode like this every week for the rest of my life. |
This was a pretty funny episode, not gonna lie.
|
I really did love Leo being nice and the Tusk rejection, also with what Genis said at the end made me wonder if he already knows that the other wants to kill and thinks it will be entertaining

Been slowly catching up on Zyuohger, and just watched this episode last night.
It was a delight! I feel like there's been a string of super solid episodes after the Gokaiger two-parter, and this one continues that trend. There was some great character work, and Misao continues to be one of the most fascinating Sentai characters in a long time. I feel like I'm frustrated and elated by him in the exact same ways the other Zyuohgers are. He's an intentionally difficult-to-like guy, and it's interesting to see his arc play out. What actually surprised me the most about this episode was learning who wrote it: none other than Kento Shimoyama, the head writer of Ninninger. Say what you will about Ninninger (and I've said a lot, both good and bad), but this guy is freaking great at writing interesting characters. Before this ep, I dreaded the possibility of him helming another Sentai series. But now? I'm very curious to see what he'd do under a Sentai producer that isn't Naomi Takebe. Top marks all around. |

This one and the next, about sumo wrestling, were both written by Shimoyama. |
