Oh man this looks good. We didn't really get much of Zack and Trini in this trailer. Billy looks like a fun character though. I was disappointed we didn't get to see Zordon in the trailer.

Really don't know what to make of this.

I like it. But i'm sad no zords or zordon or alpha 5. But it is the first trailer so.
But i like what i have seen so far.

This movie managed to surpass my expectations, I am legit surprised that this actually looks like it'll be a good time.

Never thought I'd say this, but I am on board for this movie 100%.

Well, so far I'm digging it, looks like it could end up being good.

But where is Bryan Cranston's giant floating head!?!

Seriously though, this trailer got me excited to see our breakfast club turned superheroes on the big screen.

Didn't show a whole lot, but still a really good teaser trailer. Billy definitely looks like he'll be a fun character. Since they find the power coins much like one would discover a board game you should never play, I wonder how they'll be introduced to Zordon and Alpha.

I don't how to react to this honestly.

Man, I really, really like the redo of the old theme song that we're hearing in this.

The rest of it looks pretty decent. Feels kinda like a generic YA action movie in a lot of places, though.

I like what I'm seeing! It looks like a great blend of new envisioning with nostalgia. I'm in 100%!

Ehhhhh, I'm still not convinced yet.

It looks like work's been put into it, but I've been burned by reboots before.

It looks good to me. They have put a lot of effort to maintain the Power Rangers vibe and keeping it fresh at the same time. Looking forward to see it on Day 1.

The fact that Rita says "I've killed Power Rangers before" just makes me giddy with joy!!!!

Hm. Its got my attention. Going to echo that it has some very generic YA elements to it, but I'm liking the breakfast club aspect. Don't know how I feel about them getting super powers from the coins. I know that's been a thing at least since Dino Thunder, but meh.

Blew my expectations away. Instead of a trailer of "ZING POW BAM! POWER RANGERS!" we got a look at what the movie is really about.

5 Teenagers overcoming their own personal issues and end up becoming a team of superheroes to save the world.

Cannot wait for the next trailer.

I liked it. Some of the Hollywood cliches made my eyes roll (the drab colours, the swelling cover of some classic song for the trailer) but it was a genuinely solid teaser trailer. Told you enough of what it was about without completely giving the game away.

Very excited to see more.

This looks really generic to me, hopefully the next one will show us more!

I think the biggest compliment I can make the trailer is that the worst thing about it wasnt anything from the movie itself but instead that god awful cover of I Walk The Line.

I hope with no zords in the trailer we still get to see the zord toys at NY Comic Con? I think i saw news some were saying we are going to see them. But with no zords in the trailer now i don't know?

As far as trailer tropes go covers like that are right up there with the ones that have soundtracks that go "BAAAAAOOMMM" every 5 seconds.

I'm getting serious Earth to Echo vibes from the trailer overall, but that's fine because it was a fun movie if not amazing.

OTOH, quite severe Pacific Rim vibes from the small "Go Go Power Rangers" refrain at the end. That I can easily live with.

I can't wait for the next trailers to see Goldar.

So this movie is going to be a darker take on Power Rangers because this trailer show the PERSONAL issue of 5 Rangers.

The acting of 5 Power Rangers doesn't remind me of Saturday Morning Cartoon Characters which is a good thing?

I wonder if they going to included Tommy/Green Ranger for the Sequel since he is HUGE Fan-Favorite.

I think it looks cool. I was worry that the movie would try to copy off of the Transformers movie style and vibe. This movie looks like a early-mid 2000s Hollywood superhero origin type of movie which does worry me.

Movie Billy reminds me way to much of Dino Thunder Ethan.

Black guy who's the Blue Ranger and the Triceratops user, that can take a hit (granted, I'm sure all the Rangers can tank a hit, but Ethan's power in Dino Thunder was an energy scale forcefield, so yea). Also he's the smart guy, obviously.

I mean we've had Black guys and Blue Rangers before, no reason not to, but way to much syncs up with the Dino Thunder ranger more so than Mighty Morphin.

Pity that Zach is the only one with barely in screentime in this trailer. We basically see him on the roof and vaguely as one of the five during groups shots, and that's it.

I can't be worst than the show. Without nostalgia, MMPR is pretty awful. I hope the movie does well that it can make PR into a bigger brand name and more popular too. Power Rangers is still down by many people while other kids stuff like Transformers, Pokemon and Ninja Turtles are consider to be acceptable by most adults for some reason.

With Transformers and Ninja Turtles, there's been enough different versions of them that everyone can pick a version that they like and say united that they "like the Ninja Turtles", though some are talking original Mirage comics (violent, black and white), others the 2003 show (keeps colors and jokes, but follows comic stories more), and so on so forth.

Pokemon doesn't really have that (though with the Pokemon Special manga and the game's lacking Ash, there's a bit of that), and even with the Pokemon Go craze, the immediate push back by others show that they think Pokemon was a childish thing, and shouldn't be brought back (like it ever left :rolleyes ).

I would like to see some different interpretations of Power Rangers, but unfortunately the first people up to bat to write such things usually think that means 'fuck this franchise, it's too kiddy. I'm going to -improve' it with tits and gore, and swearing. Lots of swearing. Also no one is really a friend, they just punch the same bad guys. Dim the colors too'. Then an apologist comes by and ramps up the camp to 11, making it more corny than the original.

Honestly, while I have no hatred for the original season, what I hate with franchises like these is that we the fans all know later seasons we either like more or know are written and acted better, but everyone is stuck on season 1 stuff.

Look at Pokemon Go. Literally only has Kanto Pokemon, but it's treated as this celebration of Pokemon's years-spanning franchise. Please, get me some Cyndaquils and Gachomps on there, then maybe I'll play.

(Sorry to dump all this in my response to you, this movie just brings up a lot of observations I have about American-side anniversary projects).

I think the whole "getting the coins from blowing up a shiny rock" is a bit odd, but everything else was all smiles for me.

Wow, that was excellent.

I can finally say that I'm really looking forward to this movie now.

Please don't be a generic reboot. I hope Power Rangers is before High School.

This looks really generic, honestly. The look of it all is pretty cool and kinda unique, but the angstiness comes across really forced and dumb.

I think this works. Obviously they're going for "The Breakfast Club with superpowers" instead of "Saved By the Bell with Superpowers", which works, even though I admit that one of the things I enjoy about the original team is that they were all close friends from before becoming rangers.

The Zack Snyder Grey tint was slightly present, and I hope this is about all we get of it. Thankfully, because of the nature of Power Rangers literally being color themed superheroes, it can't get BvS level greyed out.

"I've killed Rangers before". I liked that. The slight maturity bump needed for this movie, plus, like the original MMPR movie, establishing that there have been ranger teams before (though not necessarily implying that Zordon was involved with them, unlike the one that trapped Ivan Ooze).

What this trailer did that worked:

- Showed bullying on 3 of the 5 Rangers
- - That works because let's face it - EVERYONE has been bullied at one point. Immediately, we all pick one that we relate to (for me it was Billy)
- Focused on teenagers being teenagers of today
- - The villain was saved till the end
- - We now have an interest in the 5 characters (well, at least 3 or 4, poor Zack)
- - Detention, car accidents, bullying, romance, angst, etc. ... all things relevant to today
- They didn't blow their load (sorry for the use of that phrase) in one teaser trailer
- - Half shot of one Ranger half morphed
- - No Zords
- - No Megazord
- - No Zordon
- - No Alpha 5
- - No Goldar
- - No Putties
- - No theme song

And yet here we are, making it the #1 and #2 trends worldwide on Twitter.

I call that a success. Those of you hoping for Day of the Dumpster made in to an hour and a half long movie will be sorely disappointed. This movie is going to focus on the teenagers first, the Power Rangers second, just like the first Transformers focused on Sam and not the Transformers. And that formula worked.

If that's the formula they're going for in this first movie, it'll work.

And let's face it - EVERYONE loved the first Transformers movie. It only became popular to hate about 3 years ago.
