SDCC 2012 - Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Display
40 Attachment(s)
It is probably safe to say that most people are here on this site because at some point in their childhood they watched Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Well that phenomenon celebrates it's 20th anniversary this year, and you can feel the jubilation at Bandai America's display at San Diego Comic-Con.
It looks as though a lot of product is coming our way to celebrate the occasion including the release some popular Megazords, Mighty Morphin Mask sets (similar to the Super Sentai Mask sets from Japan), a Collector Edition Power Morpher belt, and a Mighty Morphin Red Ranger figure were all on display. Also included are images of the SDCC Exclusive 6 figure Super Samurai set! All items have a 2013 date attached to them (except for the SDCC set which is of course, available for purchase at SDCC right now). |

Are we getting a new Megazord, and Shinken-O?! o-o
|
Still waiting for the Dragonzord to go along with my 2010 Megazord, Bandai.
|
Diecast DX (2010 version) Megazord? HOLY HELL YES.
|
OMFG were gonna get the real deal Shinkenoh? AND a new Power Morpher?
I just made a mess of myself. |
Thank you, THANK YOU! Bandai, name your price for the Shinkenoh. Awesome.
|
power morpher and shinken-oh, O.O.... general! yes sir! hand me new pants
|
YES! Finally, we're getting the Power Morpher again after so long! :cry
|
O. M. G. So cannot wait for all this to come out.
It really looks like this anniversary thing is gonna be awesome for PR fans. |
I don't hate what I'm seeing, but I'm not immediately wowed in the same exaggerated way a certain Code was. :p
The morpher is easily the neatest part of the display, took Bandai long enough to recognize its importance. If there's something inaccurate or otherwise "terrible" about the thing, I don't immediately see it. The 2010 Dino Megazord, now in diecast! The 2010 release wasn't exactly a favorite, but I did like some of the things it did with the MMPR Megazord design. Not being dependent on stickers and plain gray plastic should help. Part of it will depend on how that mold holds up when at least part of it is metal, because it won't matter one bit how pretty it looks if the thing's ratcheted joints can't take the weight - just look at the Toynami Voltron. I'm far more skeptical on the quality of the Armored Might figure at retail. It would be much easier for Bandai to fall into its usual habits with the final product on a line like that. His proportions aren't nearly as bad as they could have been and I like the new points of articulation on the limbs, but the torso under the armor looks like it's no step up compared to Super Legends. I'm only believing those weapons remain fully painted when I see it too! The Red Ranger masks are just Sentai Mask Collection used for effect so it's not worth discussing further. Having a set of MMPR helmets in the same style is neat for those of you who'd want such a thing. Of course, all we see is a Tyrannoranger helmet to show off the concept and a sketch of the final product. And then there's what I guess is going to be a US release of Shinkenoh. I have trouble believing that there isn't some shortcut that will be taken for an American release, but as long as any changes are minor, that should be a great opportunity for anyone who missed out on the Japanese and Asian releases... or it could be an opportunity for Bandai America to "prove" why they have to make their own dumbed-down Megazords from the sentai robo designs if it has to be butchered for US release or to fit a certain price point. |
Sweet morphers! I hope the coins are metal.
|
Power Morpher All The Way!
|
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!! BOA? Are you messing with me? have all our bitching over the years finally took? Come give me a hug man, hug it out :D
|
Wow...Boa is really stepping up their game here, a lot of the stuff on display are pretty surprising, not just the the detailed weapons on that red ranger figure, but the fact that they gave those Sentai shout outs too.
2013 is going to be a great year for PR collectors it looks like. |
The fact that it's called "Sentai Series Shinken-O MegaZord" leads me to believe that we'll get more of these authentic quality mecha releases... Probably dead wrong on that. :P
|
Shinken-Oh Megazord?!
If the zords fold into origami form, consider it bought! |
I'll just wait until there is an eventual Figuart of TyrannoRanger. I am sick of muscled out Rangers.

*steps in between arms out* AWESOME that now I no longer need to hunt down DX Shinken Oh, interesting to see BOA use a Thundercats body as for Jason, I can dig that, way better than the weird Super Legends bodies! Diecast Megazord FTW but man that only makes me want a SOC release moar.... BOA, today you earn Shin Densetsu's respect....BUT..there is always tomorrow.... |
Gonna have to grab a Power Morpher, and both the Megazords. Very impressive showing for BoA at SDCC. They have impressed...
|
I am so glad I passed on the current BOA Samurai Megazord, the BOAing one hahahhha
|
I'll defiantly have to hunt down that gorgeous Dino Megazord and the morpher.
I'd also really like to support that Shinken-Oh release, but the only way I could find myself buying another one would be if it comes packaged in that squeaky white Styrofoam from the days of old. |
That diecast collector's edition Dino Megazord looks AWESOME!......
Which probably means it'll be rather expensive and/or hard to get. I wonder if it'll be able to separate into the individual dino's. Definitely looks like it could. If we get enough info about it from SDCC (price, release info, features...), I might start saving up for it. |
sweet shinken-oh i really hope the final products look like that boa dont screw this up hopefully wont be like a tru exclusive then might stll be cheaper to import it i really want the dino megazord if they dont change it
|
my thoughts:
the morpher looks good, will pick it up OMG FRICKIN DX SHINKEN-OH! never thought i would get the chance to own one die-cast 2010 megazord? sign me up! while i wished this MMPR red ranger was a figuart, i will pick it up, i love the way they handled the thundercats figures and this one looks to be as good as those! really excited now for what BoA has in store for us |
Isn't that the red ranger figure that's the "exclusive" dvd set freebie?
Definitely want the power morpher and Shinken-Oh. Possibly the dino megazord if I actually see it anywhere too. Well played Bandai, well played. |
Really, really sweet display! Best Power Rangers display in quite a while for BoA.
Definitely will get that DX Shinken-oh if it's affordable, I never got the Japanese version. The Power Morpher is also a must get. I have high hopes for Bandai! |
That's pretty cool of bandai, but I personally have no interest in any of it =]
I can't see them releasing all of the other Shinkenger Mecha to make Haoh, so I'll stick with the BoA stuff to make the gigazord as its easier to get (slightly) and cheaper. The morpher is cool and all, I just have no desire to own it. If they had somehow struck a deal with BoJ, sort of how Hasbro and Takara work together on stuff, and managed to get them to produce MMPR figuarts, then I would have been very excited. |
I was planning to buy 6 power morphers for each coin until I saw that they don't use the original coins. Still though, I think that every Power Rangers fan is obligated to buy this stuff to support BoA doing things for the collectors.
|
I already have a Shinken-Oh, but I would totally buy another one to support.
Power Morpher and Might Morphin' Mask collection is a must though. That Power Morpher looks more screen accurate than the 1993 one! I've always wanted to get into those mask collection things. They look so cool. :P |
There is part of me that wants to go and be happy and ya awesome....but then realistic me comes in to stop me from being happy, so all be that guy. First what stores want this stuff, I don't think any retail shop will want to stock in a "new" version of the samurai megazord (to retailers/average Joe that is what shinken-oh is) a die-cast version of a megazord which I think didn't sell to well in its day, a 6in version of a character that is Iconic but he is not in his iconic version, but rather is coll fan version, and a morpher from 1992 that should have been there in 2010. I'm thinking TRU will be exclusively selling these guys in a Limited quality, and online shops like BBTS will carry these guys a well. Second the cost. Going into a BOA mindset I think the red ranger6in will go for $15-20 like the Thundercats 6in, the morpher probably will go for $10-30. The toy that concerns me the most is the shinken-oh will go for I think realistically $60-100, and I think that price will be shared on to the collectors MMPR megazord to make shelf space easy for retail, which I don't know about you I'm not willing to pay $60 for a megazord, and I KNOW I'm not willing to pay $100 for one. Now I'm just guessing stuff and you can ignore me and my price guess, and yes I'm still excited for Everything here....except for the mask because mask confuse me...a lot.

Wonder if these gorgeous Shinken-oh and MMPR megazord will see the light of day over here in the uk?

The morpher is the only thing I care about here, but I think it's amazing they're doing it. I hope I can find someone in the US who can buy one for me. |
Morpher is Amazing.....what would be more amazing is a Dragon Ranger One to compliment it.
|
That Morpher is mine. And wow Shinken-Oh is out of left field, I wonder how much it will go for.
|
Quote:
I have a feeling the morpher and the megazords will be scalped all to hell, I hope it doesnt happen cause I will stop at nothing to ge the morpher and shinkenoh |
Quote:
I am worried about the scalping on the morphers too though, especially since I'm not in the US and will have to rely on eBay for getting them in the first place. |
