Are You Guys Cool With Bandai America Using A Thundercats Body For Armored Jason?
Alright, so a few days ago we saw this:
SDCC 2012 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Display http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1342065228 Armored Mighty Morphin Power Rangers It's a reuse of a Thundercats buck with new parts such as forearms/gloves, torso, head, and possibly lower legs. I would hate to see this with single jointed knees instead of double. Anyways the larger Thundercats(6"/8") by Bandai have good bodies, very poseable and very sturdy. So I don't mind it. However, what do you guys think? |
Needs a 3rd option of "should've funded Figuarts instead" :p
|
"Disrike" :lol
Anyway, I'm fine with it. From what I've seen, the Thundercats had decent figures, so I can't complain. |
I honestly couldn't tell and don't think it's a bad thing at all.
Unless the back's full of unsightly screw holes. |
No. Because even now that you told me, I can't see it. Unless Jason has a tail, let it go. O_o
|
I don't care if they used the body from another toy line, but frankly I'm tired of these muscle bound Rangers, the actors don't look like that, why should the toys? Figuart all the way for me

Looks pretty cool, I don't see any reason to dislike it. With the Thundercats line most likely dead Bandai may as well use the body for something.
|
I guess as long as the mold's useable, Bandai will make use of it. But I'm curious if kids like seeing muscle-bound Rangers.
|
I'd be alright with it if, again, he wasn't jacked. No need for the abs.
|
Honestly I don't mind muscled rangers. It's not like I'm going to stand in the store, pass by a good looking figure, and say "... No. He has abs.". I'm not that anal about my toy buying. The figure looks great, it comes with enough accesseries to make me say yes.
And look how good that muscled litho looked we saw a few days ago. And them re-using the body of a thundercat figure, still doesn't bother me. He doesn't have a tail, and I never would've noticed anyway. I skipped the whole TC line of figures. I like it. |
I only wish they used the old gripping hands. I will say when I first saw the original PR figures they impressed the hell out of me and that was...gods...20 years ago now? lol...I do like that figure though.

I don't care, I just wish Bandai would have the balls to just tell us that Thundercats has been cancelled.
|
It looks like a knock-off. The muscular body just looks so out of place in this day and age. It was fine in the 80's during the Conan boom, but come on.
|
I think the muscle bound look came from the packaging art when MMPR exploded here back in the day. I remember seeing comic-style drawings and such on napkins and birthday plates with muscular rangers.
I too would prefer a Figuarts figure but if the double knee joints and other articulation is retained, I might pick this one up because I like the articulation style, and can shoot pics of Jason VS Lion O. |
I'm fine with the muscular look if it's like the 4-inch Samurai figures. But this? It's offensively garish.
