EDIT: And what's more, this looks to have more paint on the T-rex toy we've seen, so I bet the final version will look even worse.

My god that looks horrific.

I can only hope it'll look better in-movie, but even then I'm not holding my breath. And I'd been generally upbeat about the movie until now :(

Well, that pretty much confirms it. Although the cat's thoroughly out of the bag now as it's all over Facebook.

It is but we could face legal action for having that photo posted here. The images were leaked by someone who's already in hot water over this. So please, no one post photos here or Saban/Lionsgates/whoever will be on us. We need to respect the fact that none of the companies involved planned to release these images yet.

Saban is 100% cool with fans discussing these images now that they're out there, but given the nature of how these images were leaked they would respectfully like fans not to spread them. And I agree with that sentiment totally.

I was actually trying to be optimistic that it's not as bad as everyone said, and then I got to see.
...Well then...

That's really too bad. Because it looks like the BoA team got a design they just couldn't figure out and pulled out the Staples "easy" button...and then tried to make it extremely large to entice fans to get the "biggest Megazord ever".

Yup. Once again, I can't blame Bandai too much. The cretaively bankrupt designs of Hollywood are inherently impractical and implausible.

Edit: In regard to the Megazord, both the toy images leaked, not the takedown notice. That's totally understandable.

I kinda like the new movie megazord. It has the Bandai America paint issue, but the design is neat. I like that it took chances with the combination. Will probably look better in the film. I wish Lionsgate had the chance to show it off first because now the world is losing its mind over two different toys displaying two different levels of quality.

Both probably much less so than the movie render. A poster on another forum showed pics of a movie Optimus render and the toys side by side. Guess which one wasn't good. I really want to see what the other four zords look like on their own though. Ultimately, the aesthetic is in line with the suits and everything else we have seen. I'm going to hope the movie renders do my optimism justice.

Two different toys. One is apparently the actual combined Zords and the other seems to be one of those giant action figures they make a lot of. For younger kids I suppose.

So the Megazord just looks like a giant dude now? Like they didn't even bother designing it to look like a combined robot, just a metal person?

It is hard to put into words just how fumbled this is.

How did that design get through? Seriously. I've come around on the suits a bit, but that Megazord design is a travesty. Give us that metal shrapnel look that I'm sure most of us expected, I honestly think it would be a colossal improvement.

It's really depressing how good transforming robot designs just... don't exist anymore in Hollywood.

Like when making this, did they even care about making it look like a combining robot? They just made this independant of the zords and said "good enough." They didn't have to actually think whilst doing it.

There's nothing clever or creative or thoughtful about this whatsoever. I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

EDIT: Oh shit, I just got it. The Megazord is meant to look like a giant Power Ranger. The "bodysuit" design, the daimond shape on the chest, the visor face. It's menat to directly reflect their outfits.

God damn, that's utterly stupid. Especially since the Rangers don't wear spandex/bodysuits, so it looks more like a typical Ranger than they do.

At least it's more unique than copying the entire transforming scheme of the original. But still, what we got...

Need a better look to really judge it, and definitely need to see the film version to make a final call on it, but I am intrigued by what I see at the very least. Far from the worst Megazord we've ever had at the very least. And so glad to see they are releasing a full set of them instead of having to buy them all individually.

I actually kind of dig it. Kinda reminds me of shin getter in a weird way. I don't think it looks GREAT but not BAD either.

I still want the toys (pending review) but even my least favorite megazord design... got butchered. When will they learn?

I'm not exactly sure what people were expecting. I get the sentiment as far as wanting it to look less..cohesive? Like more an amalgamation with very distinctly different parts. It does fall in line with the aesthetic though, and I am glad it isn't just a 1:1 copy of the original but with..busier designs.

Found it, and... I'm not really sure what I think. Definitely gives me the impression that Bandai gave it their best shot. Though it does kinda make me worried about how the Megazord will look on the big screen... I will say, I like the diamond shaped window/light on it's chest. Draws a nice conection to the Ranger suits. I'm more than ok with this chaning things up, but the proportions just look... bad...

I think I'll be passing on getting the big combining Megazord. Which is sad, because I still rather like how the t-rex zord looks on it's own. I'll probably stick to just getting the morpher and the Legacy figures.

Anyways, just saw the pic of the other one, which while not being made of combining components, is likely a somewhat more accurate representation of the on-screen design.

I don't mind it quite so much, and I honestly think that the final design we'll see in the film may end up a bit more of a hybrid of the two with a bit more of the individual zords being visible, at least as far as the feet/legs are concerned. As there is a drastic difference between the two toys.

So basically what we need is a halfway between the reinventiveness of Transformers and the new Voltron for what it should have been?

A new take but still recognizable and all the parts roughly correspond

It's definitely not what I'd have expected from a megazord, I agree. And as I said, I totally get wanting there to be a bit more..distinction between the parts from the other zords (which I do hope the actual cgi model will have). But just taken as a giant robot dude? It's pretty cool looking.

Well, it isn't exactly the cgi render, but it'll do.

So yeah, looks like, unless this is just more accurate to the toy than the movie model, there really isn't much to be seen of the other zords in the megazord, which I get the disappointment over.

But again, as I said, just taken as a giant robot, it's not an awful design, I think it looks pretty cool.

Edit: I just realized that is an official reveal of the non-combiner toy, so yeah still a chance the actual version we see in the film has more going on.

Yeah. Something that's new, but not unrecognizable, with actual thought and engineering planned into it's design and not just a lazy robot thing.

There's not a single aspect of this that's all that distinctive or creative. It's just a generic giant robot. The wings and weapons don't help, feeling like something a child would slap on.
