Here we are at last- the end of Power Rangers Dino Charge.

And with that, another season of Power Rangers comes to a close.

But as one chapter ends, another begins...

They finally stuck the landing with what is arguably the best and most controversial season finale in PR history!!!

Sledge's plan with the Greenzilla eggs is so far removed from Kyoryuger, any sane comparison would lead to an insane contrast!!!

A bounty hunter selling a planet for "scrap"!!! Not sure if this really makes sense, but "bad monster trying to destroy Earth" plots don't always make sense.

Seeing a montage of bit characters with virtually no speaking roles and having them use mirrors with a buttload of extras defies belief and logic. Not much else you can say there.

And with a black hole, Sledge is presumed dead!!! It's not said outright, but the theoretical science of black holes would imply: "Yep! They dead!" Not only that, the Earth is sucked in, and PR achieves a new level of darkness by virtually "killing" every human ever!!! This was halfway implied in RPM, but Supercharge took it to a whole new level. Of course, this timeline is presumably erased so none of it matters, but still...

The scenes in the distant past rewrite a plethora of PR history and prompt a hundred new questions. Both Keeper and Sledge are familiar with the phrase "Power Rangers". Mighty Morphin' were the team we identify as first until the Alien Rangers implied they existed long before. One could arguably suggest that the Super Megaforce "New Powers" existed during this time, but another argument for another forum thread.

The epic battle that follows mimics the first episode with the bomb joke, only to make it truly fatal and have it kill Fury. Ivan seems almost happy about his "captor" meeting his "end", which is far removed from Utchy's warrior respect for Dogold's death in Kyoryuger.

Sledge grew!!! WTF?!?! Sledge grew and I really thought this was getting good!!! Sadly, no original Zord battle, but he still grew!!! Why Snide didn't grow and face down recycled Kyoryuger footage is beyond me now!!!

By killing Sledge and Co. with the sun, they inadvertently kill "distant past" Heckyl/Snide. A note to continuity, Curio is absent. Since he wasn't created until after Sledge returned to Earth, this is appropriate.

Keeper sends the team back and Heckyl assumes a similar role. The idea to stop Lord Arcanon implies that he will be defeated before he can destroy Sentai 6, but couldn't this also affect Sledge's solar fate if Arcanon isn't around to tell what to do or where to go?

With history changed, dinosaurs live and PR can't help but flinch. Mighty Morphin' and Dino Thunder were at a time when the dinosaurs were extinct. The Zordon Era could be justified, but Dino Thunder was about the death of dinosaurs and a reptilian mutant's egotistical plan to "return to the age of the dinosaurs", which doesn't jive well with this in-universe retcon!!! Seems odd that Saban would approve of a finale which potentially harms his market-saturating MMPR bandwagon!!!

In the final analysis, I loved this episode even if I have reservations about the plot and resolution itself. I'm left conflicted and wonder where anyone goes from here in terms of the greater franchise "storyline". If the timeline changes, its as if none of this ever happened. A shame for this installment to end like this, because it did happen and the stain of the Neo-Saban Era looks less pronounced even if PR had to seemingly hurt itself as a whole to do it!!! Will Ninja Steel follow this change and show dinosaurs? Did the release of Jurassic World inspire this ending? Will Saban experiment on himself and accidentally transmutate into Mesogog? I can only answer one of these: Saban will never be a Disney villain!!!

P.S.: Saban returns to Kamen Rider!!! Not really, but despite everything, he still works a nod in.

Is Dino Charge even canon (in terms of MMPR - Jungle Fury and Samurai - SMF) anymore?

I think Dino Charge is its own continuity at this point.

That applies to every season post LG except for the potentially un-canon team-ups.

What an absolute disappointment to what was once a strong season/series.

I have so many issues with this finale. I have so many issues with Dino Supercharge in general. Everything that I was hoping they would NOT do, they did, and they did it with so much self-hype within the episode.

For starters - they've once again decided "THESE POWER RANGERS LIVE IN THEIR OWN UNIVERSE". Lame. Way to, once again, continually, spit all over your "rich history" and "rich universe". If every single series is a universe reboot, then what's the point in caring anymore?

The season finale/series finale wrapped up all the story lines ... most of which were introduced 4 to 6 episodes ago in a 40-42 episode series meaning none of us really give a damn about Heckyl's past (because it wasn't mentioned until 4 to 6 episodes ago) nor the character. Sledge? Too expensive to keep using original footage for him so out you go for 3/4 of the season until you can return to be an idiot. Final fight of the season? Let's only have 6 of the 10 Power Rangers take part ... too expensive to get those other suit actors in here for cool stunts.

The characters themselves ... Ivan claims he is triumphant over his "former captor, finally"? FINALLY? You did not give a damn after, what, Episode 12 of Dino Charge? You went 28 episodes before you decided to give a damn again? And Prince Phillip ... way to have him in there to say like, 3 lines. No mention of Ivan's returning to the past or some emotional "I look forward to reading about your conquests when I get home" or something. Literally - NOTHING. Just pulls his sleeves down and WHOOP through the portal.

I get it - Power Rangers is a kids show. "How can you expect so much from a kids show".

Because for the last 6 years, Saban Brands has been telling us every single year "THIS IS THE YEAR YOU GUYS GET EXCITED!" and then we do only to end up disappointed. Chip Lynn promised us "the best episodes of the franchise!" and in all honesty some of the writing and story direction makes me want to give Operation Overdrive a freakin' Emmy. WE ARE GETTING A MOVIE BUT THE SHOW CAN'T SEEM TO WRITE ITSELF OUT OF THE 3RD GRADE.

This finale gets a 1/5 from me.

The only thing "Super" in "Power Rangers Dino Supercharge" was apparently the title.

I'd say bring on Ninja Steel but honestly, I'm no longer looking forward to it. I'll watch it out of curiosity, but this is continuing to be an abusive relationship and it's time I break the chain.

NOTE: I'm not asking for a "dark" or "gritty" series. I'm not asking for blood/gore/violence. What I'm asking for is to make me CARE about things. Heckyl's past should have been hinted at the START of Dino Supercharge, with tidbits thrown in. Instead, he's this super evil villain and then WHOOP he's actually a victim, it'll be resolved in 4 episodes BECAUSE THAT'S ALL WE HAVE LEFT. Prince Phillip is the descendant of a King that Ivan served? Totally could have had a much better back and forth plot with that. BUT NOPE, SENTAI FOOTAGE LOLZ.

I feel like a Sentai snob but the finale of Kyoryuger actually got me misty eyed. I cared about the villains. I cared about the heroes.

Power Rangers Dino Supercharge couldn't even fit it's own theme song in the show.

Sorry I'm ranting. It's just disappointing on a level that I had hoped we had gotten past.

Yeah, that was a pretty terrible finale all round. Little development, weird resolutions and just generally anticlimatic all round.

Dino Charge was fantastic. Supercharge was a fizzle by comparison.

Not by a long shot. At least this dared to do something different even if it was a massive misfire.

Two words: What happened.
Dino Charge was actually pretty decent and a genuine step up from Samurai & Megaforce. But then Supercharge came and, like Sledge's ship in DC finale, it just came crashing down. The abundance of filler episodes, where the story portions are relegated to the B-plot when it should be the main focus. Everything felt rushed and disjointed during this part. Something must have happened BTS on how the quality declined. I'm actually gonna say this, looking back as a whole, I think Samurai actually had the best ending in this Neo-Saban era. It actually had something that the other finales lacked, Build up. Things with Serrator and Deker and the last battle with Master Xandread all wrapped up nicely and all the plots came together towards the end. Sure it was ripped off from Shinkenger and the characters were bland, but A plot is better than no plot. This one just felt like a reverse Turbo, were Turbo's first half was bad, and the second half redeemed itself, especially with the great Chase into Space two-parter. While DC had a good first half and a bad second half with a bad two-part finale.
Anyway, it's done so what's more to say.

Nope.

I hate this. I even kinda hated it in RPM, but that had an excuse because reasonably, you can't just destroy the entire world like it did and not have it be an alternate universe or timeline. Maybe if PR had ended with RPM, with SPD/Time Force being post-post-apocalypse with like aliens from PR past helping to rebuild the Earth or something. It needed to continue in present day, and I'd rather RPM be left out than all of Neo Saban.

But really I don't see why they'd ever want to do that. PR has no shortage of continuity headaches between series, just leave them all in the same universe. I'd rather that than a reboot, which is yet another reason I'm not looking forward to the new movie. Power Rangers is a weird franchise in that it's been going for so long without reboot, and it's not a comic or cartoon. It's a live-action show, where the actors age and yet still play the same character. There's never recastings of the same characters (well, rangers at least) Jason is always Austin St. John. That's just who the character is, and the idea that this legacy exists and these newer, younger rangers could just naturally encounter the older rangers and have it feel real becasue it is real... it's something not a lot of shows can do.

That's always a shame, too. If you're going for a straight-up final fight, it's always best to have the whole team.

Because kids shows are fucking great, is what I always say. I honestly think we're at a point now where there exists, at least in prominence, more good kids shows than bad ones.

Thing is... I've been re-watching MMPR lately in an attempt to watch ALL of Power Rangers (Neo-Saban included... ugh) and while I'm skimming through it, I find even MMPR had better writing and plotting than Neo-Saban. Adjusting for plot inflation, MMPR is a way better kids show for 1993 than Dino Superchareg is for a 2016 kids show. The actors feel invested and their performances genuine, if not that amazing. The writing feels like it has direction and a goal, despite being hokey and juvinile. It looks stupid but it feels competent.

Oh Ninja Steel is gonna suck for sure.

I haven't had faith in PR since I first saw Samurai. It was more than just a bad season, it showed a clear and deliberate shift towards intentional badness. And that's not something you just go back on. It's clear Saban thinks Power Rangers is just MMPR cheesiness, and forgets the better seasons both in original Saban and Disney. It's taken me until now to realise this, but until I see otherwise, it's what I honestly believe.

My only hope is if the movie succeeds, and corperate synergistic mentality takes over like it always does, an attempt to appeal to the more high-school focused demographic may inadvertently yeild more competent writing.

There's nothign to apologize for when you're this right.

I haven't seen much of Supercharge or even Dino Charge. I honestly tried, but it felt... kinda sad.

Pardon my super cynical approach, but that's where I feel with PR as a whole, and Supercharge has kinda been like the last warning to me. But hey, the Super Drive suits were wicked so there's that at least.

For the record:

Chip Lynn is credited as the ONLY writer for Dino Charge eps 1-11, and then still first writer for 12-20.

In Dino Supercharge, Chip Lynn is listed as first writer a handful of times, usually only during big important episodes (ie: new villains, new suit upgrade, new Ranger, etc.) while his assistant, Becca Barnes, is listed as first writer for the rest of the season (including the finale). Chip is still listed, but last.

Thank god, no more cavemen ranger.

So was able to watch all of Dino Charge now and yeah the ending just no words. Which is strange because I was never confused on how to feel about a power ranger ending before. I have not felt this confused about an ending since Mirai Nikki. I liked Dino Charge even if it was perfect but this ending just yeah I can't say anything else about it.
