in Ex-aide I'm having with the secondary forms
Ok, not the concepts, but more the power distribution. Just for the personality and fighting styles they aren't working for me. Brave should have gotten the Samurai game power up, just progresses, he does not seem the type for a beat style game. That should have gone to Ex-Aide...and the robot fighter to Lazer. Heck the bike would actually transform to a robot. Snipe, well he was fine. I don't know why it bugs me, but it kind of kills the flow of the fights for me.
ok fanboy rant over |
That actually sounds like a pretty good idea. I think I would've preferred that over what we have now.

It makes sense to me as to why Brave got beat. Rhythm. It all came down to rhythm. CPR, knowing a pulse, etc., etc.. Plus dancing and sword fighting can go hand-in-hand pretty well. Well dancing and fighting in general. A fighter is ony as good as their foot work.

Ex-Aid is a crazy, crazy, kooky, nutty show - doing things "wrong" is half of the charm!
|
Goofy is one thing...chaotic? I'm not saying I'm dislike the show mind you. Just is one of those things that kind of grates me though.
|
Completely agree, something was bothering me when i saw them move and fight in secondary forms.
But then it clicked so well when Jet Combat was on. Thanks for helping me figure what sat wrong with me.. |
Yeah, I don't feel like having powers and upgrades that reflect the established character is too much to ask for. DJ powers being a associated with heartbeat rhythm and dancing and sword fighting are pretty weak connections.

I liked that Hiiro got DoReMiFa Beat, precisely because it doesn't fit his personality.

That and Taiga was specifically going after it. He's the only one who really chose his Level 3 rather than getting saddled with it, and clearly he knows how to pick winners.
...Although I can't really argue with the logic behind giving Lazer Gekitotsu robots. He'd basically be a transformer and it'd make more sense for that to be Robots thing rather than Chambara's. I mean, I like both of the forms we got, but it does make you question why they went down the less obvious route. |
Honestly I think they all make enough sense. They just make a slightly odd kind of sense, which is basically the show's whole deal.
We've covered how Snipe is obvious for one, but protagonist and all around heroic guy Ex-Aid getting an upgrade inspired by Super Robot shows seems straightforward enough to me. Brave's Level 3 form is clearly meant to be a deliberate 180, and the show even makes it a point that a Rhythm game doesn't really suit him. As for Lazer... okay, this one is admittedly kind of a cop out but his whole thing is being different and weird anyway, so going from a bike to a samurai is arguably the perfect kind of nonsense for him. |

TBH, a Samurai Knight is kind of redundant, but a Bike Samurai is absurdly awesome (shout-out to Gaim lol).

I mean, yes. You could argue that basing him off of a transforming robot seems like more of the given route. But let's be fair, most Japanese robots are based on Samurai in one fashion or another anyway. :lol |
Okay I get what you're saying and won't lie I think brave should have gotten a different form as well but as for the gekitotsu robots thing. I think it would really only fit with Ex-aid because both it and mighty action x are fighting games.
Also I think they wanted the contrast with both Brave and Lasers second forms but I could be wrong. |
Mighty Action X isn't a fighting game, it's a platformer.
