Gokaiger Episode 47 - "The Results of Treason" - Episode Discussion
We're nearing the end of Gokaiger!
Our favorite space priates have 30 ultimate Sentai powers (29 plus their own). Basco has 5. The end of the last episode had Captain Marvelous call out Basco by name... It's time for Gokaiger and Basco to battle it out for all the Ultimate Powers. Did Basco abandon Sally? Or is Sally a double-agent for Basco? Either way, we get a Dairanger group scene, so get excited! Discuss! |
OMG.
Did Sally really have to die right when I was starting to like her? :c And next week can't come sooner. Also, I freaking hate Basco. There'll be like no sympathy when he dies. Oh, and seeing them use multiple attacks from Dairanger was cool. |
This weeks episode was fantastic, gosh, only two more guys, I look forward to the end, but at the same time, I don't want the fun to end, I love gokaiger!
We definately need a figuart of Basco's monster form now |
Good episode. I got a feeling though the series might end on a cliffhanger just like decade and proceed on to a movie.

Basco is officially the most despicable villain in Super Sentai history. |
For the record, there's FOUR more episodes. Should be plenty of time to wrap things up....

That was a fantastic episode, everything from the story to the music and action was perfect. One of my favourites so far for sure. |

As far as 47 goes...I kinda figured Sally would be used as bait. But Basco killing her? Damn, that's cold. Now I really hope he kicks the bucket in 48 (which I'm sure he will). |

Damn, what an episode. It was worth the extra wait, but I would have loved to have seen it sooner.

Dear god, that was Amazing.

No matter how the series plays out, I'm going to consider Basco the true villain of this series.
The Zangyack were unable to do anything of importance to the Gokaigers. Basco captured the Gokaigers. Twice. And consistently beat the snot out of them without an army of Gromins, usually just Sally. Plus he turned on Damarus, turned on AkaRed and Marv, and eventually, his own companion Sally. Dude is what evil is supposed to be about! |
Really, anything the Zangyack leader does isn't going to feel as powerful as what Basco just did.
And if he does pull something with as much weight as what Basco has done, it just won't feel as powerful, and more like it came out of left field... There may be 4 episodes left, but after this Basco affair, I don't think the Zangyack can really hold my interest (I'll be sticking for resolution though). |
Monkey bits everywhere!
In a show that blows up non-humans daily, that death seemed rather harsh. Basco gets extra "We're all gonna die!" points for this. |
Keep re-watching it.
This is probably the best episode of the entire series. It really defines what this entire series has been about - the Gokaigers going from "treasure hunters" to "the 35th Sentai hero team" ... less about finding the ultimate treasure and more about defeating Basco and the Zangyack Empire. Marvelous went from asshole captain (not caring about anyone or anything but the treasure, ie: Basco) to taking in the enemy's partner, knowing it was a trap, but doing it because it was the RIGHT thing ... and then trying to save her before the necklace detonated, and instead injuring himself greatly in the process. Just wow. And the music ... that score was absolutely amazing. It captured the emotion of what was happening in each scene beautifully, and it sets up what I feel is the TRUE finale of the series with the next episode ... because after Basco, nothing the Zangyack Empire does can really compare to what we've just seen. |
Thing are getting real now!
But poor Sally :( I'm interested to see how the last leg of Gokaiger Plays out. |
I was not expecting Basco to blow up Sally in an attempt to kill Marvelous. That was pretty damn cold-blooded. Easily the second biggest surprise in toku last week (the first being the "Holy fuck!" moment from Garo).
|
My prediction?
Sally isn't really dead. She'll save Marvellous at the last minute, sacrificing herself to kill Basco. But I agree, Bosco is the only person who seemed like he could be a legitiment threat. I know the Zangyaku nearly defeated the Super Sentai and all, and they're trying to hype them up to be this super powerful threat, but I'm not getting that at all. |
I don't want to be callous, but you did see all the bits and pieces of Sally around where the explosion went off, right?

My thoughts and summery of this amazing episode. Also, Made this especially for you guys, again :D |
Nice review Gokai Red! I liked your observations at the end, about how the Gokaigers became more caring. That's definitely something I agree with.
There's a difference I think in the story details, though. I don't think Basco warned Sally ahead of time that he would shoot her. That makes Basco all the more evil. |
Basco told Sally the plan and reward, but didn't tell her the details.
That's what caused Sally's turmoil. Basco was willing to shoot her and hope Marvelous would help. |

Ep 48 was cool.
