I hear the melting wax look is all the rage this year. :rolleyes

I find myself unsurprised at another awful design from this film. Regardless of whether it's Goldar or not, it just seems lazy and uninspired.

I wonder what goes inside Goldar's chest. Maybe Rita?

When the re-imagining of a character takes their name waaaaaay too literally...

It's literally just a melt-y gold monster...which is fine. If it wasn't supposed to be Goldar.

Conceptually I don't hate this. I mean the toy looks terrible but then so does the Megazord so I'll hold out judging that too harshly for now.

But yeah, this is about far from Goldar as you can get. And it just seems like a huge waste to take a big character like Goldar and essentially turn him into a MoTW :/

Kinda looks like a gold Megazord. I wish he still had a feline face to add some life to it.

It looks like a failed attempt at trying to make a replica of the 2017 movie Megazord with peanut butter ice cream.

Yeah they're really trying to push the idea that Rita was a former Ranger gone rouge.

Which I think has won me over somewhat recently despite some of the disappointments this film has shown.
Those kind of changes I can accept for sure.
And I still strongly believe they want to pimp out some ice cream franchise with Goldar.
Gonna patiently wait for that limited edition ice cream. :lolol
But in all seriousness I do like that bit about her past.

See, the Rita being a defected ranger thing can support Goldar's design here IF HE'S NOT DESTROYED. Cause like if the point of Goldar is supposed to be Rita's version of a Megazord, then in that case I'd say its an interesting change.

That said, having not seen the film and knowing how most of these movies tend to go, I'm not holding my breath over Goldar surviving into a sequel unless it's something they establish can be re-created. Granted, the problem there is that it essentially turns Goldar into a shell with no personality.

In the end, this is all speculation and theory-crafting, though.

So Rita made Goldar by pouring gold wax over the Megazord?

Well, that's certainly very... literal, I guess.

I didn't watch the video, but looking at the still image, it might not be that bad. Yeah, the toy looks like melted wax, but think how many toys use a really minimal amount of color. Looking as closely as I can, I see a lot of areas that, if painted a different color, might make the character look pretty decent. I'm hoping that's the case.

Goldar looking like a "melted" version of the Megazord is not coincidence.

...Huh. I wish his face had some elements of his original look. I could get behind the melted gold thing if his face had more features to it beyond "I took a picture of a melted candle."

Everything may look like ass, but hey, they almost have something going there with the head crest!

I don't know who came up with this idea, but they're taking this in a completely different direction then I expected.

So yeah, I'd say "KILL IT WITH FIRE!" but it looks like someone tried using the microwave already.

My thinking is that it's Goldar's "Zord" and not Goldar himself. Goldar had piloted a "Zord" before. Cyclopsis or whatever it's called comes to mind.

Even if it's just a zord, or if Goldar himself is Rita's zord, or whatever, it still looks horrible as a toy.

And people are putting way to much praise on this 'Rita was a former ranger' concept. We've had tons of bad rangers with their own Megazords. This is not bold new ground they're breaking. If anything it's less impressive, since she doesn't actually resemble the rangers, nor does Goldar resemble the Megazord. (there's hints in their design but it's not overt) It's a weird melding of Rita and the Green ranger arc, and it's not particulary creative or exciting.

On the bight side of things we're getting a Megazord sized villain figure? I Guess that a plus?

I wonder if this isn't Goldar's final form. Maybe they want to keep that a secret. It starts out the fight like this, but as the fight goes on, it starts forming into a more solid shape. Or maybe this is incomplete Goldar, before Rita finds all of his particles.

The reason I think this is because it's kind of weird to show the final monster before the Putties.

I guess the rumors of Goldar being made out of gold are true after all.

I don't care what this thing is supposed to be, it's the most assualtingly awful design I've seen come out of this movie so far. And that's saying something after Rita was revealed.

I'd say Rita's design at least knows what it's doing, and 'Evil is Sexy' is a trope every movie maker loves.

As someone who has no nostalgia...Goldar looks fucking stupid. Keep in mind I think the Zord looks neat

People have been making "Rita was an ex-Ranger" fan fiction for years.

So yeah it's not new.

What the hell is that melting butterscotch toffee supposed to b-oh fuck you. That... no. No.

ROTF Devastator captured the spirit of the original more than this thing. And it had giant dangling testicles for the sake of a rude joke only stupid 12 year old boys would laugh at.

If that's what Goldar is, then I have no faith in this film succeeding.

Then again, I've had no faith in this movie since it was first announced.

I really don't care what Goldar looks like as long as the reason why he looks like this is explained. Which I'm sure will happen, if only visually. I'm also sure he'll look far better on screen because gold colored plastic is always awful.

This literally cost them less than $1 to make and I'm sure that it is going to cost $40 - $50.

Even if you love the design for whatever crazy reason, you have to at least acknowledge that this toy is going to be the absolute worst of inflated price gouging Bandai could have possibly ever done.
