Bandai of America helped to creat Kyuranger
According to denofgeek.com BoA had a hand with the creation of the up coming sentai series Uchu Sentai Kyuranger.
You can read the full story here http://www.denofgeek.com/us/tv/power...american-input |
That inclines towards an immediate Kyuranger adaptation following Power Rangers Ninja Steel.
|
Well at least Bandai America are trying something new with Super Sentai
|
hopefully a better translation of the mecha
|
According to Greg Mitchell, They become involved with Kyuranger due of their competition from Marvel and Star Wars.
This is from his quote "Think about Captain America. He used to wear red white and blue spandex. His costume became more cool and tactical looking. He aged up the look of a classic hero. We were constantly bringing up examples like that never to undermine what makes Power Rangers Power Rangers but to say, let us help to form the shape of Power Rangers as respectively as possible to make it competitive as possible in the US." I think what he trying to say Super Sentai or even Power Rangers have to take a risk in order to complete with Marvel or Star Wars That could explain why most of Kyuranger suit are very different and doesn't look like a foot soldiers group |
Interesting read. Hope they explain further later in magazines and etc.

Intriguing...
|
So it was an active interest in staunching the waning relevancy of Sentai that spurred this change in direction. This keeps sounding more and more promising.
|
So if BoA was involved, what will the Power Rangers versions of these toys be like? Will it turn out that we will end up getting the Japanese molds but with American plastic, paint and sounds?
|
Hmmm...maybe this would be a Sentai more in the image of The Avengers/Justice League if their vision is to rival the likes of Marvel?
|
Man people took that comparrison to Captain America way, way too fucking literally.
All I'm gleaning from this is that BOA wanted PR suits that weren't just super plain, undetailed spandex like what Sentai has been doing for the last few years. They wanted something more conducive to what they've been doing with the super modes for Samurai and Dino Charge. More armoured, less simplistic. |
Interesting... I'm not counting on it, but it would be great if they also had a hand in developing the toys with BoJ, and that in-turn would mean we would se a return of BoA using the same sculpts, rather than creating their own versions. I don't hate what they've been doing with them, but I like what I'm seeing for the Kyuranger toys, and would like to see BoA use the same sculpts... A fan can dream... right?
That said, their influence on the suit and zord designs seems to have done some good. Especially since I'm actually considering trying to watch this sentai series as it airs, rather than just waiting for the inevitable PR version. |

As long as it does not stray too far from familiar elements of things I would not mind a few new things done. |
I really hope this helps revitalize this franchise as the show hasn't been truly fantastic in a decade.

If BOA work on this show, it won't surprise me if Kyuranger ends up being adapted for PR in 2019.

But I do hope they don't skip Zyuohger. I like it and won't mind a PR adaptation. |
Just listened to the full No Pink Spandex podcast interview, and I think a lot of our reactions are overblown. It sounds like BoA was brought in at the start of the brainstorming process, BoJ and Toei went off and designed everything, and then BoA was presented the finished product for minor tweaks.
My interpretation is that BoA was involved with a lot of the conceptual stuff, but the nuts and bolts of the design work was handled by BoJ and Toei, as usual. Quote:
My guess is that BoA's contributions were more meaningful when it comes to the mecha designs -- which shows, as they look markedly different from any Sentai mechs I've seen before. I welcome BoA's contributions to mech design because their record with American-exclusive zords is infinitely better. |

I still can't believe that Americans got involved with Japanese Project! It's so rare Toei do that! |

That and you go back far enough and find that Sentai can be said to be a Captain America spinoff.
Just do some research into Battle Fever's creation. |

I mean why Toei starting to become worried about people favored Marvel Studios more than Super Sentai? I wonder why? |
Quote:
They just used him as a popular example of why this series doesn't have full spandex suits and instead more semi-armoured costumes like the ones BOA created for Samurai and SDC. |

Super Sentai doesn't compete with Marvel in Japan Power Rangers on the other hand... |
Since BOA America were involved with the concept stage of Kyuranger. I going to bet that they were the one of setting Kyuranger into a distant future where Jark MATTER pretty much take over the whole universe and even earth!
I mean why would you have Jark Matter to be the first Sentai villain to actually succeed of taking over the whole universe and earth I remember Roidmudes were the first Kamen Rider Villains to actually succeed their evil plan which basically cause chaos in first ever episode of Drive. It pretty interesting if they did that concept too |

BoA weren't involved in developing the concept of Kyuranger. The concept was pitched to them, and BoA brainstormed ideas for the toyline with BoJ. That's all. |
So why should i give a damn about this, i guarantee that the zord will have the shitty Zord builder system.
