You could save up and buy it. I think the prices for the Sentai box sets are not bad. $30-40 for a compete Super Sentai show is a great deal compare to the Japanese box sets. I mean, the entire episodes of Kakuranger for $40 is pretty awesome.

I remember anime on VHS tapes as a kid in Elementary School would give you two or sometime three episodes for $25-30 episodes and later they would release thin packs of shows for $30-50 on single DVD volumes during the early-mid 2000's. I'm glad that fans in the US can buy Super Sentai for a good price and watch it legit. I know not everyone has a job, but it's always good to save up money. After you work hard to save up, you earn it.

Neat. Though I still haven't bought Dai, Kaku or Oh because I got distracted with Ultra DVDs. Once I pick up Ultraseven I'll go back to them.

I know several people on this site still live with their parents or whoever takes care of them. So they mostly have some type of allowance for money. I still say, support the official DVD releases then just downloading fan subs. I'm surprise that we went beyond Kakuranger on DVD. I thought after Kakuranger, that would be it.

Well I don't live with my parents, and I don't currently have a job (And in my attempts to get a job this month, I ended up getting snowed in. Because fuck my life)

I would love to support the DVDs, and I plan on picking up the Kakuranger set because Kakuranger is awesome and I love it.
But I don't want to drop $40 while going in blind.

I hope these things keep selling so we can make it to Hurricanger. :D

I still need to get around to watching that. It's difficult downloading a whole series now that I can't use the dedicated T1 lines at work and the only internet I have at home is my phone. Granted I chose not to have internet, or a computer currently, at the house but sometimes it's darn inconvenient.

I know I'm going to have people ganging up on me, but I'm going to be real here for a second - I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about these releases as I used to be. I was counting down the days until the Zyuranger and Dairanger releases, but I've yet to pick either of them up. Why? I'll most likely never re-watch them (with a new sentai AND rider coming out every year, plus a huge backlog to go through i'll never run out) and I find very little value in collecting dvds anymore - I only want stuff I know i'll want to re-watch. I'd be more than happy to watch them on Netflix, Hulu, or another streaming service - I get a more enjoyable experience from it and the companies get money for it.

I'm glad to see that Sentai has a bigger foothold in the US now, and that these releases are doing well enough to justify more. I'm happy for all of the people that see value in buying these sets as well. But for me personally, all it's doing is limiting my options for what I can watch online. I have limited funds and simply can't justify the cost in any way. Yes, I know, I'm a terrible fan.

Also, this is $60, not $40.

I still buy physical copies because I always go back to it. Netflix, Hulu and other streaming websites won't have everything since their rights to expire over time. Also if the Internet goes down, at least I have something to watch. I also hate digital downloading sometimes when you can't re-download something again seeing that you will get a "Your computer is not authorize to play or watch this song, movies or TV show" message on sites like Itunes.

Oh that's totally understandable, I'm just speaking for me personally.

If they can make through Timeranger, I'll be happy. If they manage to get us Aba, Geki, and Gokai after that though (whether it's skipping to those three or just continuing on), I'll be ecstatic.

THe problem with the current fansubs of Geki is that they use horrid TV rips.

Here's the difference though:

DVD/BD: You own it. You can do whatever you want with it. You can let friends borrow it. You can sell it if you decide you don't want it. You can put it on your shelf. The video and audio quality are the best currently available, if not forever.

Streaming: You can only watch it as long as that streaming service allows you to. The video and audio will only be as good as your connection, your playback device, and as good as the servers will allow (which will never match up to a physical release). You have to constantly get that streaming service to watch it.

Netflix has proven to me why streaming is idiocracy. You know what movie they took off when October 1st hit? The Exorcist. WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE A TOP TIER HORROR MOVIE BEFORE HALLOWEEN??!! They also rarely carry the movies I want to watch. Out of the 50 Film Noirs I own, Netflix only actually streams 2 of them, and one of them is no longer available. They can't even be bothered to stream The Simpsons, Batman TAS, X-Men, X-Men Evolution, Spider-Man TAS, they only have the third season of Ultimate Spider-Man, etc.

You do know the difference between SRP and actual price, right? ALL of the Sentai series have a $60 SRP, but actually sell somewhere between $37-40.

I guess we will get Megaranger later if things go well. We should be done with the 90's Super Sentai (Post-Zyuranger) by next year.

I'm glad they've started using the characters in suit since Ohranger's release. Just makes the covers pop so much more~

Oh I know dvd and blu-ray is superior to streaming. I'm well aware of the limitations. However, due to the nature of how I consume toku, it's extremely impractical for me. I have limited time to watch stuff, so any time spent watching toku will most likely be spent watching a new series. I usually just watch fansubs, and in fact, I usually delete episodes after I finish them I also have limited space to keep physical things, so I don't need to ADD clutter. However, if they were to be put on Netflix, I would watch it there instead of downloading fansubs.

That being said, I loved Zyuranger to the point where it would be worth it, so I plan to own it for the reasons you listed above. Other than that though, when a series is announced for DVD release, all that goes through my head now is "well, I guess I can't watch fansubs of that one anymore..." I'm not arguing against these DVDs, just stating that it's very impractical for me and I'm not so much excited when they're announced anymore. In fact, I even passed up the first season of Dragon Ball (one of my favorite anime of all time) on DVD for $10 recently. It's hard being a geek and being frugal at the same time. Maybe some day...

Netflix definitely does make some questionable decisions. However, lots of other shows and movies are on there for what seems like eternity. I can't remember a time when How I Met Your Mother wasn't on Netflix.


Amazon used to have a listing for both MSPR and how much they charge, but they switched the system. Now there's only one price, and it's saying that this will be sold for $60 per set. Until stated otherwise, that's what I'm going to go by.

Kakuranger had them in the suits too. I wish they would speed up to 3 releases a year, but that's probably impossible unless they are able to hire more people. It would be awesome to have through Timeranger by the end of next year so that the only 90s series I need would be Jetman.

THey still have both. Carranger won't drop for probably a few days though since that is how every Sentai show has worked. The closer to the street date, the less the price gets. That's how every preorder of mine has worked for the last five years.

Amazon only displays on price right now, and it's $59.97. I trust your judgement on the price though.

I really hope this gets a digital release, because I like everything on one machine. I don't really have a lot of DVDs (blame Netflix) and I don't plan on changing that, but this is the first Sentai that Shout is releasing that I want to check out.

So far, the page is still as always (torrents seem to work too). No reaction to the DVD news as of now.

After this my favorite Sentai Megaranger will be release I will be ordering that for sure. Glad the Sentai DVD release are still happening.

No, what I mean is I think they finished the show and then disbanded, leaving everything to fend for itself. The "server room" is currently up and running with no supervision or maintenance, so the Carranger episodes are going to be up for torrenting until the "server room" is shut down by a third party.

Oh, I see. But wouldn't "getting shut down" get the former group members in trouble or anything?

Maybe. What's more likely is that it'll get taken down and that'll be the end of it.
