DX Kyutama Gattai KyurenOh
40 Attachment(s)
Easily the most anticipated DX Mecha in years from Super Sentai, the DX KyurenOh is finally here! The official name of the figure is DX Kyutama Gattai KyurenOh, but for the sake of simplicity, we'll just call it DX KyurenOh. We received our shipment right on launch and have spent the last couple of weeks working on our gallery. And now we are pleased to share with you our high resolution gallery of DX KyurenOh!
Let's break it down mecha by mecha until we get to the final form of KyurenOh! Here we go! Oushi Voyager The Bull Zord! This thing is pretty impressive to look at - a lot of little details in what essentially a bull-tank. There isn't a ton of articulation, but the articulation that is here feels right. The horns can move and the mouth of the bull can open. Otherwise, that's it - the movement in the treads is reserved strictly for the formation of being an arm or a leg, not actually anything else. The gray on the tank parts look surprisingly silver. Overall, I get a real nostalgic feeling towards the original Mastadon from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and knowing Bandai America's influence with this series, I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional. The Oushi Voyager, obviously, has the Oushi Kyutama. Ookami Voyager The Wolf Zord! Can't help but think back to the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie when Billy got the Wolf Zord. This thing has some incredible sculpting for the fur on the body and legs. There's a bit of yellow which really pops. All in all, this is probably the best-looking mech of the bunch with the detailed sculpting. Articulation wise - same idea as Oushi Voyager. The mouth can open and close, and most of the leg articulation is used for the formation of an arm or a leg for KyurenOh, nothing more. The Ookami Voyager comes with the Ookami Kyutama. Mine was very loose, but that may be just a quality issue on mine. Kajiki Voyager The Swordfish Zord! I'm going to be honest - in my opinion, this is the weakest of the bunch. There's no articulation to this guy at all - he folds up to be a leg, or just sits there to be an arm. The yellow is a soft yellow, and I feel like there should be more to his "sword" part but alas, that is not the case. Sculpting wise there's nothing to me that stands out, and the yellow makes the toy itself feel very bland. Easily the weakest of the group. Kajiki Voyager comes with the Kajiki Kyutama. Chameleon Voyager This thing is LITTLE. How it manages to form an arm or a leg compared to the others is mystifying to me. The green is a nice soft green. There is no articulation on this voyager aside from the fact that the mouth can open and close, revealing a cool surprise - the tongue can extend out! That was an unexpected and pretty awesome little feature that helps Chameleon Voyager standout compared to the weaker of the voyagers, like Kajiki Voyager. Chameleon Voyager comes with the Chameleon Kyutama. Shishi Voyager The main body portion of KyurenOh, the Shishi Voyager works as the main "battle ship" of the fleet. This thing is massive and it's heavy - exactly what you'd expect for the portion that makes up the main body. There's little articulation here - there's little gun/wing flaps that you can move up and down, and the "shoulders" can rotate (but that feature is reserved for transformation of KyurenOh). Shishi Voyager has the lights and sounds, but they are mostly forgettable. You get some sounds of engines firing up and some laser blasts. Shishi Voyager comes with the Shishi Kyutama, which again, suffers from being loose and easily flipping over on its own. But that just might be mine. But when they all come together they form.... DX KyurenOh The five voyagers come together and form KyurenOh, and the big guy doesn't disappoint. The colors here are amazing in the fact that they come together so seamlessly. This thing looks and feels like your classic DX Mecha from Super Sentai of the past (prior to your Ninninger and Zyuohger DX Mechas). The Kyutamas connect to Shishi Voyager to form the arms and legs, and with a couple parts flipping here and there, you have an awesome looking Mecha. But the biggest (and coolest) feature here are the lights and sounds. The Kyutama will light up when KyurenOh is formed, and with little lighting, you will see that there are little images of the Kyurangers piloting the Voyagers via the Kyutama. I can't stress how cool that is (check out the images we took of them). The other great feature here is that each voyager can be an arm or a leg and you can swap them at will and very easily. That makes endless combinations for you to come up with to find your favorite. Released at the same time are the remaining four voyagers and we will have galleries for them very soon with all the fun possible combinations you can come up with. Pro's and Con's Pros -
Cons -
Overall The days of complex DX Mecha are over and have been over for a few years now. But this DX Mecha is probably the closest thing you'll get to your traditional feeling and looking Megazords of the past. I won't rate this as a "MUST BUY", but I will rate it as a "MUST BUY" at retail price and even slight mark-ups. The playability of this thing is through the roof and I admit to not being able to put it down the first few days I had it. Check out all of our images in the gallery and let us know what you think! |

KyurenOh, Kyutamas, and the light up features!

I do wish the electronics did a little more, like being able to identify which kyutama is in which port, or have different names for different KyurenOh configurations. As it is now, it really feels a little lacking.
It looks pretty nice, though I am a little disappointed that each limb is so uninteresting. |
What are your thoughts on the asymmetrical color detailing?
I don't think every mecha needs to be super complex or over the top, but this feels like it was phoned in and they're just making money based off of the fact it's Sentai anything.
It doesn't feel like they put much effort into this one, even Ninninger had more oomph to it. This giant... block of plastic doesn't do it for me. Saddens me, I was really looking forward to Power Rangers anything to buy in the foreseeable future outside of the movie Zords (which I still enjoy) and I'm seeing that both sides of the pond hold nothing for me this year. :( |

Eh, I like the toy, I like the pics, I like it in the show. Is it the most inspiring robo they've ever had? Nope. But it's neat and it catches my interest, despite my initial disdain of its stumpy limbs. I wish it did a little more, but it's not a deal killer for me. As soon as I recover from February's spend-a-palooza, I'll be ordering one.
It's better than baby blocks at least.

I'm okay with the suits as well, they're weird enough to just be neat. The cubes are still a mixed bag with me but their transformations at least provide more effort than this mess of a...machine. It almost feels like they started with the lights and sounds gimmick first, then worked backwards and built the mecha around it. |
If I get this guy I'm buying Tenbin and Hebitsukai Voyagers with it and Sasori and Washi Voyagers cause IMO Tenbin and Hebtsukai make MUCH Better limbs than these and Washi and Sasori make better Legs IMO I don't really like Camelion and Kajiki but at least my issues with those can be fixed by using different limbs I don't like Shishi either but that can't be helped plus considering what they were doing I can forgive it

I do like that they printed the Kyrangers in their cockpit in the KYutama that's a neat touch IMO
Stealth Voltron! That's what Kyurenoh reminds me of. God that's been bugging me for ages.
Kyurenoh looks a lot better than Stealth Voltron though. |
OMFG. I actually had that toy. XD
So, watched EmGo's reviews of the next two Voyagers.
The snake head design is at least trying to do something. That's said, they're both an absolute mess. I'm at a loss for words. -_- |
Great review and these look great. Although I guess the ones truly worth buying are Tenbin and Hebitsukai

This is soo much better looking than Zyougers glorified brick

Kyuren-Oh! What can I say about this mecha?
That I absolutely love it!!! The way it all connects via the Kyutamas and also how each zord has its kyutama forming the rest of their body! I love everything about it! Also love the mix and match aspect that it has kind of what you'd have with the Zord Builder System. I cannot wait to see what BoA does with this, I hope they do it right! |
Funny enough I wanted to buy this until I saw how pricey Sentai mechs get.
This was one of my favourite "first" mechs in quite a while but I gave up after Q2; the Q3 and Q4 mechs seemed to have a high price to fun ratio.
I'm never really into sentai mechs but god do I hate the look of this one
This guy's grown on my, especially through watching the show (even though I'm miles behind with that.) Not enough to make me want to buy it, but he does have a great design, a tonne of playability, and I'm a sucker for mix-and-match gimicks.
I did buy this earlier this year. It's an okay figure. The best part is being able to see the drivers when combined with the electronics.
Overall, though...it just really makes me yearn for pure vehicle mecha again. Maybe with Liveman getting an anniversary look, we might see some visual cues in the mecha this season. |
I wasn't huge on the KyurenOh's initial reveal, but its design has grown on me in the past few months. The toy looks really interesting, just gotta get my hands on one.
I really love the globe aesthetic of the cockpits. I would love to pick this one up, but at the same time I don't want to fall down the Kyutama collecting hole.
I’m really interested in seeing how Bandai adapts this toy into Power Rangers. Hopefully they’ll keep the separating orbs.
Kyuren-Oh is so cool in the show, shame the toy version isn't more articulated. Bet the BoA version will be worse too.
I would love to get KyurenOh when the price is right.
I do like how colorful this mecha is, but the simple transformation does bother me.
the one problem is that its going to be really expensive if you try and collect them all
Not a big fan of the recent mecha's but I do like this one.
Honestly this and Ryucomanders mech are the only ones I liked this year
my favourite mecha since Kyuren-oh
Not a fan of the combined mecha forms. All separate they look pretty cool though.
I love the gallery! Thanks for the entry!
I like them all individually and I love the kyutama designs but I'm not really all that impressed with the overall design. Love the head of the complete Mecha though.
Just got him about 2 weeks ago my first main mecha
