Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah... Nope. One step forward and two steps back with this flick.

I wonder how the critics will react to this movie.

Screw the critics. Fans are what''s important. (Then again I'm of the mind to completely ignore a critics words on ANYTHING.)

Y'know, when Iron Man wanted to show RDJ's face, they just cut to his face inside the suit.
I still can't get behind the decision to open the masks up while in the zords. It looks so bad.

It's not THAT odd a direction to go for this franchise.

You say that as if it's not horribly ugly there, either.
It's a bad look, regardless of whichever series uses it. The only time it didn't look fuck ugly was Lightspeed Rescue, and only then because half of their face was still covered up by their mouth guards or whatever.

Eh, I'd argue that's really stupid, the movie's done a lot of things that fans aren't happy with and a reboot's meant to introduce an old classic to new audiences, so if the critics slam it, most people will not bother anymore. If it gets lots of positive attention by critics, people would be more inclined to watch

Considering the rescue theme, those are probably respirators.

Then I'm stupid. Because everytime I see a movie that the critics give a bad rating to, I've thoroughly enjoyed. So please, insult me some more for expressing my opinion and sharing my own experiences.

I don't even think the Megazord dancing is a stupid idea. If it was like a bout of reflexive excitement or like it mimmicked the ranger's own impulses, but the stupid crotch gyration feels immature. If they'd done something classier it'd be fine, but every part of this movie I've seen makes the ranegrs look like unlikable idiots.

Then this movie still fails, because I'm a fan and I hate damn near everything I've seen.

Or just take the helmets off. That always looks fine. I agree that especially with this design of the suits it's just... unappealing.

Why they would have their helmets open in battle is stupid anyway, and it also confirms my personal pet peve of the rangers not being in a single cockpit in Megazord mode. This movie is like every bad decision of PR mixed into one.

It's not an odd direction, but sort of like the Megazord dancing, it's how they've done it that's stupid, as I described above.

Having an opinion does not absolve you of criticism, or mean someone else is wrong or invalidated for not agreeing with you.

But the thing is, "critics" are also people with opinions. They are exactly as qualified as you if not moreso as they're job is usually to apply more critical thinking to movies. You don't have to agree with them of course, but tehre's a reason "critical reception" is respected above others.

I mean, it is an arguement. As in, it is a point you are arguing against another, not like arguement as a mere disagreement.

Let me put this as best I can. I go to a movie to entertain myself. Not to hear others peoples crticisms. I could give two shits or less about what anyone else thinks about a movie because a good majority of the time I'm in the minority when it comes to liking something. So there is where I stand. Take or leave it. Like or hate. *drops mic and walks away*

Which is why I'll often consult a wide pool of reviews (and other factors) to make sure I'm not wasting my time doing so if, say, I'm on the fence. I disagree with critics plenty, like I hate both of the Lego movies for example and honestly cannot see the appeal of them. That doesn't mean I think all critics are wrong.

Though I suppose that's one thing we can agree on: critics are worthless in this instance, because I can tell this is a turd without any help.

I disagree. I like what I have seen like adding more depth to the Power Rangers characters to making Rita an actual threat and the Zords having the ability to battle individually.

I remember the MMPR movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie getting destroyed by movie critics but b/c of nostalgia, these movies are supposed to be the best movies ever according to some PR fans. I'm not blinded by nostalgia and can see this movie topping the last two PR movies just by the trailers.

But it's certainly not making all fans happy.

I have to ask how? Because from I've seen from these trailers the old movies for their faults at least took the concept seriously and maturely and are far more pleasing to look at visually.

Also, once again I must bring up context. Even for their time, the previous two PR movies were low budget and not especially the cream of crop of Hollywood by design. They were, especially Turbo, glorified TV show episodes meant to appeal to the existing PR children fans. This is a big budget reboot meant to appeal to a broad audience. It should not be merely barely surpassing the twenty year old originals.

Then you don't understand what the criticisms are, the Zords fighting individually amd Rita being a threat were praised iirc. But the first trailer for example showed it being overly edgy, Alpha 5 looks nothing like the original, the Megazord has been blasted left or right as it's not just a new design, but it doesn't even look like a Megazord but a general mech, etc. These aren't my opinions but they're things I remember seeing get a lot of criticism
I can certainly see your viewpoint but I'd have to disagree, in my case, I don't usually get to go to the cinema often, so if I'm paying my own ticket, I want to at least know what people in general think. There's a reason Rotten Tomatos has a 'Audience score' segment too after all

This movie is a reboot. Reboots have big changes to the characters and designs. Look at the Batman reboot for example: the suits, characters and batmobile was a huge change from its source material. Later trailers have shown it to be fun yet edgy but I like the combination of it, to see the Ranger's problems and flaws instead of everything being fine.

That's not what I meant. Megazords traditionally look like a mishmash, whereas this one doesn't, I remember LOTS of hate for it. And should that really count? There was only 1 Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, yet COUNTLESS different Batman stories and continuities

What don't you understand where I say reboots mean reimagining? This is my third time repeating myself. I said my example of a similar reboot is the Christopher Nolan adaption which has massive changes compared to the Batman source material, like the batmobile having the ability of flight, the batman suit, the villians suit. It is original and its own and not seen in the various stories and continuities.

You're being overly defensive and fallign back on hyperbolic statements because you know your arguement is baseless. You know exactly what the complaints are about and what people want instead, which is simply a better looking Megazord. It just goes to show how insecure you and anyone who meets all criticisms with nonsensical hyperbole like "you just want it to be just like the originals" are.

No you can't. I can see the Pteradactyl's wings, that's it. Nothing else look like it's made from the other zords.

Except the Nolan movies aren't really that different. Batman's still Batman, he still wears a bat-themed suit with a bat on the chest, the Batmobile doesn't fly (yet ironically a lot of other continuities have a flying Batmobile) Joker and Two-Face still look like Joker and Two-face, etc. I'm not seeing where the Nolan films are such a radical departure as, say, the rangers not even having animal-themed helmets.

Not to mention the Nolan films are actually good, which this movie most certainly won't be. Your comprarrison falls flat the moment you actually consider it.
