New Kamen Rider Post-Ex-Aid Rumor thread.
From Jefusion:
A Samurai Sushi themed Rider? http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img921/4493/TsXR3x.jpg Karen Rider Magura |

EDIT: Also, Gaim had a Samurai theme, so I doubt they'd use that again in a rather short time |
Sushi theme? Sounds.....fishy to me.

I usually think paying Jefusion too much attention is unwise too but there's nothing here they really did wrong. In any case, the safe assumption is that it's a fake, which is a shame. Sushi Rider would be great. |
Yeah, got to go with a very well-made hoax/something else entirely.
I mean, Gaim already did the samurai/food thing, doubt they'd repeat that particular combo, certainly not this soon after. |

The Sushi Rider's design has some elements from Gaim Rider especially for basic suits and sushi armor very similar to Fruit Armors....
The belt remind me to Ganma's eye belt.... I am really want Kamen Rider theme based on various lessons in school like Math Rider, Chemistry Rider, Biology Rider, Music Rider, History Rider, and other Lesson Riders..... And the protagonist Rider's headquarter in secret room in his university. Hmmm...similar to Fourze.... |
I saw this on a another board a little bit ago and somebody mentioned that this picture seems a bit to on the nose for modern Kamen Rider. Gaim has fruit samurai, Ex-Aid has video game doctors. While Drive's car/police motif and Ghost's Ghost/Eye motif aren't as weird and random as the other two, I doubt most people would naturally put those themes together.
|
I'm assuming this fake and want it to be fake. However, I'd be open to another food themed season as long as it doesn't use any fruit.
I was kinda hoping for a more medieval theme though. Kamen Rider King would be so cool. |

--- Looks more like an Ultraman than a Kamen Rider lol. |

Pretty much what everybody else said. The last samurai (heh) Rider we had wasn't that long ago so I don't see why they'd leap back onto the same theme.
|
It's hard for me to think about the next Rider because I love Ex-Aid so much. Though a Sushi themed Rider or maybe a Sushi/Chef Rider combination with Samurai themed outfits might be something cool.
|
I love the idea of characters collecting elements to create different rolls then jamming them into a Bento Driver! I mean, that's funny!

But what really makes me doubt this one is that the design is just overwhelmingly generic, honestly. Like I expect after Ex Aid's craziness, the next rider will be a more traditional looking one, but this guy is just boring. |
I want it like a Kung fu or martial arts theme
|
It's possible, however remotely, that this is some kind of product tie-in or a parody. It could also just be a failed proposal.
I expect the next Rider to be gritty looking to contrast from Ex-Aid and possibly inspired in some oblique way by One Piece / Dragonball and whatever is big in Japanese pop culture ATM. |

So... I found about this today.
[Bueno] Hello everyone. Bueno speaking. Since everyone has been sending messages about the recent buy out of Strega via Toei Company Ltd., I thought I would take the time to answer some of your questions and clear some of the confusion. - Film making is a very taxing process. It requires a lot of patience, manpower, and funding. For the past 7 years, I've had to manage hundreds of people and projects using money out of my own pocket. I'm afraid that I am no longer able to do that. And pass on the responsibility to professionals who would be able to package my creations and spread them to the public better than I ever could. Nobody is watching our work, nobody is sharing our work, nobody is telling anyone about us. Hence, it just makes sense to pass it on to people who have the skills and resources for promotion that I could probably never have. - Selling Strega was not easy for me. But in order to make a few steps forward, sometimes you have to take a step back. I met with Shirakura and after a few talks, he proposed a buisiness model which made sense. Strega will no longer be an R-rated Tokusatsu, but be re-produced as a kids show for TV-Asahi's Super Hero Time block on Sunday mornings. The more viewers the show has, the more sponsors it will attract. Its just business. Something that I am weak in. Thus, selling Strega will help us learn more about the business of Tokusatsu and how we could function in that aspect. Strega will be brought to the public as the next "Kamen Rider" series starting next fall. Most likely as "Kamen Rider Strega" but still tentative. - As I am getting old and unfit, the role of Strega will be passed onto a different actor who has a far broader fan base and potential to bring in new fans to the franchise. I will be at the auditions, but only as a supervisor and not as a judge. There's a plethora of reasons that I could go on about all day, but the fact of the matter is that Strega now belongs to Toei and is no longer mine. I've decided to take a break from film making and will resume once I feel inspired. To all those who have supported us until now, we at Garage Hero thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please don't let your creativity die out and continue on from where we couldn't. It all on you now. Sincerely, Bueno Garage Hero Director/Producer. Source https://www.facebook.com/garagetoku/ This is an... interesting development. I'm not quite sure how to feel about this yet but I can certainly say I didn't expect this. |
I'm...not certain I buy that. The Strega guy seems like the real deal, so I could see this happening, and he could probably say that Toei bought him out, but I'm pretty sure there'd be all kinds of non-disclosure agreements that would prevent him from just coming out and saying it's gonna be the next Rider series. Unless I'm missing something here?

And from how I interpreted the post at least, it sounds to me like he's saying Strega being converted into the next rider show is a sure thing, just keeping the name Strega is what's tentative. I'd be down for it (knowing very little about Strega), but something about this seems odd. Regardless, whatever the next rider is, I'm pretty sure the core ideas must be pretty locked in by now. EDIT: and just to be clear, I'm not accusing the guy of anything shady, I'm just a little skeptical here. I know he's part of the community and seems to be a decent, well-liked guy, please don't misunderstand! |

If there is any truth to this, which I am afraid I must doubt, I would think Toei would be a little peeved about the beans being spilled this way. They generally put together a pretty good bit of media pageantry for new projects and I don't really see them signing off on letting the cat out of the bag like this.
|
I don't even know what Strega is so I can't comment
|
I'm not familiar with their work, but I'm still going to have to say that I doubt this. If for no other reason that I just can't see what possible benefit Toei could get from buying out an indie production that by their own admission doesn't have much of a following. What exactly would be their incentive? It seems like it would be an extra incurred cost for something they'd have to rework from the ground up to be marketable anyway.
And just spilling the beans on facebook, is, as mentioned, strange. It just doesn't make any sense. |
Oh, for the love of...I think I figured out what's going on here.
It's April Fool's this weekend. |

The guy seems like too much of a professional to lie for publicity or break an NDA, so yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a prank. |

FUCK THAT'S GOOD |

Yeah, I had forgotten what the date was somehow...
|
It is?... Damn it. I suppose it wouldn't fool anyone if he posting something like this right on April 1st.
|
Well we'll see if it's true or not, but damn that would suck if this was just an elaborate April Fool's Joke. I really like the Strega look and it would make an amazing Kamen Rider. Also, it probably would give him backlash with all the sites reporting it.
|
Well, have we heard anything about Strega being bought out being an April Fools joke?
