Kamen Rider Wizard airing on NA channel
 

So I was browsing Crunchyroll and saw this little headline today

Not sure if its subtitled or but still interesting to say the least. Also I had never heard of this channel before so I have a feeling its not that wide spread of one.

This chanel and that new Toku chanel, I have neither. Which fucking sucks!!!

Why Wizard of all shows?

from a look at the FAQ it seems there's a good chance this isn't even subtitled. Which is a shame, still I wonder if they do sub it what the chances are of us starting to get Kamen Rider series on DVD here.

That's a good question. Maybe because of the premise? The suit designs? the unique fighting style? Even though the show leaves a lot to be desired, this is coming from somebody who likes Wizard, Wizard isn't the worst Kamen Rider show they could have possibly chosen to get new fans interested in the series.

I liked Wizard too, but usually you'd try to get a strong flagship series

What would you have chosen then? I probably would have chosen W. I don't like it as much as others do but I still think its a really good show for those who aren't familiar with Kamen Rider. It gives you a really good taste of why Kamen Rider is so awesome.

Exactly. W was just an excellent show that helped kick off the Neo-Heisei stuff (One could argue Decade did but nobody would choose Decade as a first airing)

None, apparently the channel is for Japanese people living in America so it's likely just the original Japanese version

That make the choice to air Kamen Rider even stranger, especially such an old one. Who's their audience supposed to be?

TV channels airing Japanese shows RAW are nothing new. We had TV channels in the 60's and 70's that air Japanese shows RAW before. Some of the first generation of Otakus like August Ragone saw Goranger in the 1970's long before MMPR was even a thing.

...Japanese people living in America who speak Japanese. Doesn't mean they - or more likely, their kids - were in Japan when this first aired.

And if they were already showing Fourze, why not go to Wizard next?

That i didn't know I hadn't even heard of this channel until today when I saw this on crunchyroll so I thought this was something that wasn't really done before with toku series.

True. I guess I'm just surprised that there's a big enough audience in america for Kamen Rider to warrant this sort of thing.

Oh one of those, yeah I think Comcast has one of those with a Korean channel. Though the Japanese one they have is in a more expensive package than the Korean so I never could see it. I think I saw Detective Conan on it
If I remember right I think this only happened in Hawaii.

Interesting. Too bad it's one of those obscure channels that you need a premium plan to have.

This made me think what MST3K's take on a random rider or sentai film would be.
