Kmaen Rider Ex-Aid Episode 37- "The White Knight's Resolve!" Discussion
Hiro has been given an ultimatum: defeat Hyper Muteki, or lose Saki forever. Can he unlock the true power of the Taddle Legacy Gashat???
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
I haven't heard of this "Kmaen Rider" series. Anyone recommend it?
rip taiga |
Emu leading the Yellow Riders to battle.
And their fighting a green rider. It's like old Green Lantern comics, in reverse. |
Taiga is just injured. He still has chance to survive....
|
So, If Hero revives his girlfriend, Taiga may die -> Hero will blame hiself because let Taiga die.
If Hero helps Taiga, his problem with his girlfriend still be there.. hard choices Hero.. |
1 level still makes a huge difference in power between 99 and 100. Also, The preview of the movie keeps repeating hurricane ninja, which reminds me of hurricanger.
|
Im guessing not because of Level Different, but because of Parad losing M's Gaming Side

How far does Hiiro ranks in the most suffering Kamen rider so far?
|
I'm wondering why Cronus don't kill Paradox by himself but have to order Hiiro kill Paradox ..

Just like with Drive, Ex-Aid is stumbling at the finish line it seems. Shame too. I was enjoying the series. |

He also has other strange decision...why he decide to not kill Emu and other Riders when he was able to stop time? If Cronus kill Emu and other Riders, his plan will be successfully. In episode 36, Masamune use freeze time again and steal Hyper Muteki Gashat from Kuroto. He just steal Hyper Muteki Gashat without kill other Riders. Or, if Masamune didn't want to kill other Riders, he just need to steal other Gashats when he use freeze time ability. |

However, I do justify this case to several extents. Call my words to be a paradox, but it's not that Hiiro's betrayal is good or bad written. First of all, Cronus has the Proto Gashats. He might have moved the deceased people data from the Gashats to somewhere else as what shown in this episode too. This kinda makes Hiiro's betrayal much more sense. Masamune could easily delete Saki's data pretty much anytime. Another point is Hiiro's own character. I have analysis Hiiro's character for several times and I assumes that Hiiro is your basically typical self-loathing characters. He puts a strong front in front of the others but he doesn't open up his own feelings too much to them either. This reminds me the fact that they introduces Hiiro as a tsundere which fits his whole characterization. He always acts to blame the others but he actually blames himself much more than he blames Taiga or Graphite. The whole reason of Hiiro's betrayal is because he can't be honest with his own feelings and because of that, he enacts a rather selfish action. Just go watch ep 34, it's particularly written Hiiro's whole character there. After watching that, I couldn't blame for Hiiro to make a betrayal, as what Taiga said too. |
I have to say, this is probably the first time the MOTWs are more or less regarded as a curiosity by most people rather than you know, monsters. I mean, just look at how people just pictures and selfies of Kaiden! I mean it makes sense because Masamune goes out of his way to defang them to increase sales, but it's rather funny nonetheless.
Also, Hiiro joined up with Cronus simply because the whole 'Saki in Proto Drago Knight Hunter Z' is and has always been a hostage situation. Hell, this has been the case for everyone in the Proto Gashats after all. It's literally the only reason why Genm Corp is still running in the first place. It also makes Proto Drago Knight Hunter Z ever more important to Masamune since that's the only leverage he has left. If he loses it, there isn't much he really can do against the Ministry of Health freezing all of Genm Corp's assets and ruining him. |
Cronus needs to stop with these ultimatums. I can't wait for them to finally defeat the guy. I really hope tet can save Taiga next week. This episode was too sad.

As a side note, it's possible that someone inside the Ministry is corrupt and allowing all of this to happen. I guess time will tell. |
This show just keeps piling in the goodness...! Next Episode is gonna be the grand tie-in for Hiiro's character development. Will he choose to stick to the past & save his girlfriend, or will he move on to the future & save Taiga, the very person who failed to save Saki in the first place? This is gonna speak VOLUMES for his character to be able to show full forgiveness to Taiga, after all this time of resenting him.

On a side note, do you guys remember about Mighty Brothers? The form hardly appears lately. However, what I want to talk is, do anyone know the meaning about the Level 'XX'. I think it holds more significant compared to the other Level X Riders. I remembered that Kuroto says that it only refers to the divide of Emu into two forms. But, I don't think it's just that. I really hope this Level XX will prove something bigger. It's odd actually to see them keep the Mighty Brothers in the OP if they could easily erase them to show Poppy, Cronus, or even Lazer Turbo. |

But I'd love to see Emu & Parad duke it out Snake vs Liquid style. But with Parad becoming both Genm (without the zombie) & Para-DX. |

Parad will probably be spared or permanently merged with Emu so Emu can still transform. Unless, future movies involving Ex-Aid revives Parad or something lol.
Besides that, ep was awesome. Kuroto's only scene was a funny one as usual. Why do villains love to spill their grand plan? xD Looks like Hiiro is going to rejoin Emu's side soon. I seriously hope Taiga gets a last minute upgrade unless Hiiro is the one to finish off Graphite. As for the final boss...it could be Parad? Masamune? Maybe even Kuroto because he may take control of KRC once his dad is out since he says its his game after all. The other possibility is Hinata since Kuroto mentioned his name way back in episode 11. |
This really reminds of late-game Gaim where you weren't necessarily sure who would be the end boss.
Micchy? Redyue? Ryoma? DJ Sagara (well, it depends on your point of view)? Nope, it turns out to be Kaito all along. Likewise, I'm not sure who it's going to be here. Could very well still be Masamune. Or it could be Kuroto, who still hasn't totally tossed aside his villainy. It could be Gemdeus, or Pallad. Or, as everybody has been suggesting, Hinata. Or it could be someone totally new. Of course, no good Ex-Aid theory is complete without the obligatory "Well, it could also be Hiiro's dad". |

Emu vs Parad - Ex-Aid vs Genm - Mighty Bros. XX - Ex-Aid vs Para-DX Going level by level. |
I liked how Niko was eating Niconicorn in that once scene where she was talking to Taiga, haha. I see some people are complaining about the writing for Hiiro but I've just been so thrilled to have a character like Ren who isn't completely terrible imo, and I think his characterization is consistent, although certainly desperate. I feel like Hiiro is PROBABLY not going to kill Taiga (and some of you have probably seen episode descriptions and will tell me), but man he has all these death flags! I swear though, Emu is too good for all these people, poor guy. As a final note, I'll throw in my hat for the final villain of Ex-Aid being the Ministry of Health guy.

Furthermore, going by the True Ending, I wouldn't be surprised if it were Gemdeus, with Kagenari being set up in the closing Episodes as well. |
Hiiro's heel turn is for the best. Because it sets up the next episode. I don't know about you all, but it feels like since Hyper Muteki got introduced now, defeating Cronus should have just led right into Gamedeus and we would have been done by episode 40. Now we're just dragging it out by having Hiiro's story arc be something more.
Then again this is one of those times when I don't mind trying to put a bow on an underdeveloped plot line. Taiga and Hiiro have always been at each others throats and we know why. Being able to explore that isn't terrible, just syrupy. Morality pet Nico, I feel like she goes from being awesome one moment as a strong character to just being background material the next. The best scene I feel was the one with the dad talking about Hiiro letting it go. That's good writing. Plus, we got more Tokimeki Crisis Poppy fighting action. |
Cant wait for next episodes to see what will Hiiro chose ? I like Taiga hopefully he doesn't die.
|
If Taiga does die then his theme song will forever be Angel with a Shotgun.
HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT THE NAME OF THIS THREAD!! This is apparently the Kmaen Rider Discussion. |
This episode revealed that besides Dan, the other people killed and having their data stored can't just be easily accessed and rescued by the hero riders. Cronus knew to keep that ace for himself, since he is at least forcing Hiro to assist him.
So how exactly is Hiro, who had a private chat with Cronus, a "bad character" for not wanting to risk his girlfriend's existence on an attack plan on Cronus? Even if they took him down, without his control console they couldn't do shit, and he'd likely have someone back at the company destroy it if they learnt of it and tried to go and swipe it off of him. Hiro choice to go salaryman is annoying, but what was the alternative? Take down Cronus and hold him until he gets bored and gives in? No one but Kuroto would try to kill him. And without the motivation to surpass him how likely would it be that Kuroto would make Muteki, which so far is Emu's best bet of defeating Parad solo, as last time he got his ass-kicked? That's just ignoring the upgrade Hiro got this episode, which makes him the only other person that's not a bugster capable of taking on the Lvl. 99 squad. Hiro's always had a not so stellar personality. He's the quickest to de-transform, which while smart does end up looking cowardly in the earlier episodes, he was part of the petty duo, and we've seen the Saki flashback enough to know all about what he's like in a relationship. Having said that, he has grown from that previous shit, even if that growth includes prioritizing NPC girlfriend over his career and alliances. And what has Kiriya done besides his usual shtick: lie about being horrible, when he actually wants to do good? The worst thing about him being back is his ugly big head without his Lvl. 3 look. |

Shin-chan has graduated from chewing the scenery to straight up attempting to eat the camera. Be scared. Be very scared. :p I remember when I was worried the whole Saki thing was just going to be brushed under the rug. Ex-Aid is a nice show~: - No opening narration? Man, they really can't make up their minds when it comes to the intro. At this point I fully expect to tune in one of these weeks and just see Ghost's opening or something. :lol - So, um, I guess this is up for debate apparently, but I still think everything Hiiro has done lately has made perfect sense and speaks to the character's depth, rather than taking it away. But even if working for Chronus WAS just overly convenient writing (which it isn't!), I think the solid drama we're getting out of it would go a long way towards making up for that. - Hiiro's dad got the tiniest bit of focus! That was really awesome! We could use more of that! The downside to hyper-serialization like Ex-Aid has is that you can't really do "the episode about Hiiro's dad". He's had some nice moments throughout the show but I can't help but feel he should have a little more presence than he does, especially when the plot is currently revolving around his son. - Kiriya's so chipper now! Although I guess if I cheated death I'd be pretty happy too. - Also Shin-chan seems to be completely incapable of moving without making a wacky cartoon sound effect anymore. I wasn't kidding about that medication guys! You're doctors! Do doctor things! - I like how the camera pans up when Ex-Aid launches out of the armor and then when it pans down it's just gone. The magic of cinema, people! This is kind of a tangent but it reminds me of how anytime Drive was indoors Tires just magically showed up out of nowhere. I remember being so disappointed they never showed one shooting off the Tridoron and just like, smashing violently through several walls or something. :lol - Chronus calls Ex-Aid Hyper Muteki but he also calls him Ex-Aid. I know this is a super pedantic complaint but is Kamen Rider Chronicle confusing his shtick with Bang Bang Simulations' shtick? - On which note Taiga really shined this week. Both in the big ways and little things like just stopping to observe a fight before jumping in, showing once again that he's secretly the smartest character in the show... when he isn't trying to get himself killed. Quote:
Maybe I'm biased because he's basically my favorite character in Ex-Aid, but I've always gotten the impression that he (and by extension the show) deliberately downplays his importance to get everyone's guard down. He basically let Genm be the main bad guy because it was convenient for him, and he's already plotting to take down Chronus. EDIT: Oh, and also he's the only bad guy in the entire show with a coherent motivation beyond "crazy/is a jerk", which I feel also helps his odds. |
Is it just me or the opening part of the theme that played during Legacy Brave's debut sounds like part of Star Dream's first theme from Kirby: Planet Robobot?

I'm still ambivalent as to whether or not revived people as Bugster data is really "saving" them. I mean - they're imitations of life, not truly living. I could ramble about the problems with Bugster resurrections but, I'm sure if you take a moment, a flood will come to you. This leads me to hoping that Kiriya or Saki will point out the inherent problems of being Bugsters, not alive and force our heroes / society to accept tis loss. I doubt this will happen - which is fine because it's totally weird. |
Hmm..Cronus can kill Bugster permanently, maybe Ex-Aid Hyper Muteki has ability to kill Bugster permanently too.

i just realized the reason why Masamune cant erase Palad using Master gashat, because in the list there are 2 bugsters , Perfect Puzzle and Knockout Fighter, while parad combined both of them to be Perfect Knockout ,
we dont see him using lv 50 forms anymore right? another one is Emu have reprogrammed Palad, attaching his DNA to him, makes he able to use Game Driver, there is possibility Palad status is Player, rather than Bugster. the second one, this is also the reason why Dan able to use Dangerous Zombie, revived as bugster player, remember when Emu reprogramming him ? first one to erase DZ ability to regenerate, second one he reprogrammed him to not able to use Gashat anymore before Palad killed him. |
