Oh god, the style gives me bad Berserk-vibes :eek:

Okay, the animation isn't that terrible, but still - I'm not a fan of this CG look.

The studio that is working on the film did the animation for Transformers Prime which looked fine. They also did Ajin and Knights of Sidonia which are both really good in my opinion.

Eeeh I'm just not a fan of that art style. Ah well, I'll get over it I'm sure. I managed to get through the new Cyborg 009 anime, after all.

They also just did Blame!

It'll be different, for sure, but definitely nowhere near as bad as Berserk.

Yeah, I mean what is it with animes these days going for that kind of look?

Or even worse: If they mix the two. I hate it how some modern shows look traditional 2D but swap the aesthetic for CG in fight scenes and stuff.

I feel like Japanese animated CG TV shows look better than American animated CG TV shows in my opinion. Heck even the Captain Harlock CG animated movie look really good.

thing is berserk done by studio thast did not know how to do cgi anime. while this anime is done by studio that has done really good cgi anime under it belt.

Meh. Still not particularly impressed with this at all.

Take away Godzilla and the plot sounded like "generic futuristic space anime". Now the show has the "generic futuristic space anime" CGI aesthetic as well.

The Harlock movie had a pretty ridiculous budget though. It's one of the most expensive things Toei's ever done.

Yeah the Netflix anime do get a home video release later on like with Ajin and Seven Deadly Sins.

I've completely lost interest in this after seeing the animation style.

Meh on the animation buuuut I reserve judgement until we get a better idea of the story. It's Urabuchi, he's earned it.

It's not the animation style. It's the constant plunking of the piano G key to convey drama. DAMN YOU G KEY!

I think it looks alright. It could be a decent movie.

Welp, Polygon sure does have a (single) style they like now, huh?

It just looks exactly like Blame to me.

But I was kind of excited by finally seeing their take on Godzilla on the new poster. Feels like a cross between Legendary and Shin.

I don't think the CG looks that bad. Outside of Pixar and Dreamworks, most American CG is not very good neither.
