Title for new Movie War revealed- Heisei Generations Final
 

Build will most likely be the last Heisei Rider with Emperor Akihito abdicating and Japan getting a new Emperor .

Which is fitting, considering that Build's successor will debut a few months before the Emperor abdicates - thereby making Build's successor simultaneously the Twentieth Heisei Rider and the first New-Era Rider.

So the rumour of the winter movie having all the Neo-Heisei riders in it was true after all.

So is Akihito actually stepping down? I only heard a while back that he wanted to retire, not that it was officially going to happen.

I do find it funny because Tsuburaya said Geed would be the last Heisei Ultraman series and people are freaking out thinking the franchise is ending. :lol

I mean if it is a big finale for the Heisei series it would make sense for the other Riders to appear

Seems like they are still discussing stuff and not everything is set in stone from the looks of it. Understandable since there must be a lot of factors to consider and stuff like this is a very rare occasion.
As for Tsuburaya's statement I can see how some might freak out if they are not informed of the abdication.

If that ends up being the case, I hope they can (at the very least) get all 10 lead Neo-Heisei actors (both Masaki Suda and Renn Kiriyama in the case of W) in the flesh, rather than just have archive audio or fake voices while suited up.

I think its safe to say that's impossible. Masaki Suda, Sota Fukushi(Gentaro's actor), and Gaku Sano( Kouta's actor) alone are far too big to return to Tokusatsu whether they want to or not.

Oh yeah, ansolutely; but Masaki Suda (Phillip) hates coming back, and Sota Fukushi (Gentaro) and Gaku Sano (Kouta) are too busy to come back most of the time.

I could easily see them pulling what they did with Gaim with last year's Heisei Generations, though.

It would be great to have the second phase Heisei riders appear. Plus we can see a Double and Build team up.

I hope the main villain in Heisei Generation Final and upcoming Super Hero Taisen are Foundation X.

Why does Masaki Suda hate to come back?

I think he disliked how girly Phillip's outfit was, and how he didn't want to get typecast that way.
The strategy clearly worked as he is insanely big right now.

So he is just as much of a dick as the dude who played Kuuga, huh? Both of those idiots should take pride in Kamen Rider being the series that kickstarted their career.

Kuuga has more of a reason as he didn't like how things were changed during Hibiki with the production staff I think it was.

Joe Odagiri doesn't hate Kuuga, that's an old rumor. He dislikes Tokusatsu in general and only took the role since it's a good kick-start for Japanese actors but he still thinks Kuuga was, and I quote him here, a "great show".

And that's all you can expect of an actor. He does his job and what he needs to promote his work, afterward he's free to say what he thinks. I really don't understand why some people can't accept the fact that actors don't love every genre they take part in, sometimes it's just an experience that doesn't work out for them, even if it was a financial success.

Also, it's always great to see someone calling complete strangers "dicks" and "idiots". Especially when that description fits said person perfectly.

A crazy popular actor doesn't want to go back to a franchise known for kickstarting other careers which is stressful on other actors as is, but also notorious for tiny budgets. Suda was 16 when he played one of the main leads of a popular show, that's fucking mindnumbing considering his performance. Sure, it got him where it got him today, but he's a high demand actor, and Japanese agencies are REALLY rough. You can't even date anyone when in an agency sometimes, which is why Tendou's actor quit his agency and made his own
Also just because he played another crossdressing character doesn't mean he enjoyed the roll. Look at the guy who plays Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies, he's fucking famous and popular but he hated it ever since he read the books to prepare for his shoots

Sorry, but gonna echo everyone else. Yeah, taking the role of a rider makes you essentially a role model for a younger generation for the span of a year or so, but that doesn't mean the actor or actress has to love the role. There are plenty of actors who portrayed wildly popular characters who hated their role (Harrison Ford as Han Solo is a perfect example), tokusatsu is no different.

We already have numerous instances where actors either grew up with toku and love their role or didn't but still grew attached to it. It's okay for some to not like whatever role they ended up playing, too. Labeling those who refuse to return as dicks is simply childish.

I didn't say they have to love the role, but they should be grateful for it.

He should be proud to return for it in a special.

BTW, Harrison Ford is a bad example because the man IS an asshole.

He should go out of his way to do something that was incredibly stressful for him and will pay significantly less than his other highly praised role from Gintama films, Assassination Classroom films and other dramas? You must really hate whoever played Jason in MMPR for not wanting to get on Super Megaforce, an anniversary season then! What about Mark Hamil saying he doesn't really want to do Joker anymore? Or Mark Hamil being VERY pissed at what happened with The Force Awakens with him? And they are grateful for it, as it was a stepping stone for them, and now their name is out there. But even then, if the actor doesn't wanna return, it's their choice.

Well tough shit for him. Other than Han, Jones, and Dekkard, what other role has he done that is memorable? None. Most of the movies he is in suck. Cowboy vs Aliens, garbage. What Lies Beneath, mediocre. Firewall, dogshit. The Devil's Own, boring as all fucking hell. Ender's Game was average, but he was a complete douche bag in it, so he wasn't even a likable character.

Han Solo is what made him the star he is today. He should worry more about learning how to fly a plane properly rather than what fans want him to autograph.

To support your statement regarding Kuuga, Odagiri did say one of the reasons he took the gig was because Takadera and the staff convinced him to stay and help them break the mold of tokusatsu at the time. It was that motivation that helped him stay and made filming Kuuga enjoyable for him.

His sweet and short role in Anchorman 2 was funny, Air Force 1 was awesome, Fugitive was fine.

Pretty much, Japanese agencies have a stranglehold on the entertainment industry and unlike the West where the agent works for the talent here in Japan the talent work for the agencies.* They take anywhere from 50-90% of the money the studios pay, if they pay you at all.*

Geez its that bad? I'm no stranger to the stranglehold talent agencies have on their actors in Japan but didn't know they took that much of their money too. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though, given what I've also heard about the idol industry.

Well, I would not go that far but more like him walking his own divine path and rule over all like a certain-tofu and fish-loving beetle cosplayer from 2006 who packs a mean punch or two and can do bullet time stuff. I think it has more to do with him giving himself time to balance work and family time the way he wants instead of being dragged here and there by his agency.

Because in this case he's not being an asshole. Maybe he's too busy, maybe the agency refuses to allow this, maybe Toei doesn't want him. Hell, Toei got a different voice actor in the video games for Phillip AND Gentarou a year or two ago
