Pacific Rim Uprising official trailer
|
It looks fun but what the hell is up with that music :eyebrow
I was seriously thinking about muting the video or closing the tab entirely, and that's the last thing you want to achieve with a trailer. |
This sequel shouldn't even exist.
|
Okay that looked friggin awesome.
|
Looks like the aliens are using mechs of their own.

*sees John Boyega's partner in trailer*
Oh snap, Clint Eastwood's son is in this. |
I saw the trailer when I saw Blade Runner 2049 and people behind me was like "This movie looks worst than the first one" and "The first one was crap and this one looks worst".

Good:
-CGI and effects still look great (especially the kaiju) -The Kaiju look different from the first one but still recognizable as "in-series" -Evil Jaeger -More lighter feel (could be good/bad depends) -World Building seems to expand the lore My concerns: -Jaegers feel weightless, less mechanical (transformer-like) -Red Jaeger with the sword, cool design, unnecessary swords IMO -John Boyega's accent -So sense of height, I feel the original put more low angle shots to get a sense of presence for the Jaeger's mass -City feels too futuristic that it is not relatable as a "city feel" anymore -Has the "Independence Day 2" feel, (alright movie, just felt too disconnected from the first film) |

First movie was wonderful, a true love letter to Kaiju/Giant Robot fans. Anyone who doesn’t at least get some fun out of these movies is a joyless asswhipe who never had a childhood. |

These new Jaegers are definitely way more agile than the slow stompy ones from the first movie. I dunno, it looks like it'll be fun.

I don't know, just didn't excite me as much as I was hoping. Just seems tonally different from the first movie and not sure I like it.
|
Yeah, STILL pissed that they changed the title to something so fucking generic and uninspired.
While I don't think it will have the same spark that the first had (losing GDT was a huge blow to this), it still looks like it'll be a fun flick. Not a fan of Boyega, but ah well. |
After this trailer I think I'm in. While I understand everyone's concerns with Del Toro not being at the direction, I think the movie has potential.
I love the new designs and how they seem a big technological leap in agility and speed compared to the Jaegers of the first movie and how they're hinting at mecha-kaijus. The first movie already seemed to wink toward Getter Robo's Dino Empire with its "the kaijus are evolved dinosaurs" thing...if the invaders really started to develope their own hybrids of machine and beast, my dream of seeing live action Mechasaurus will come true! Also, hello, new guy here! ^^ |
