Uchu Sentai KyuRanger Episode 33- "Launch The Battle Orion Ship!"
The team is still stranded without transport, until a message from Commander Xiao tells the KyuRangers of a secret ancient battleship used by the legendary warrior Orion. Could this be the key to victory?
SuperHeroTime HAS MOVED TIMESLOTS! You can still view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block now start at 8PM EST on Saturdays! |
I haven't seen a mecha this overbalanced since Superpants Optimus Prime (Armada Optimus Prime for the uneducated). And it's a flying tank with a giant gun on top.
I really like it. And the fact that it's like Spaceballs Megamaid. When the ship turns, everyone gets shaken up. Looks like we get Champ 2.0 next. I like that they're using some of these episodes to tie loose ends on the characters. It doesn't feel like filler because of the pacing. Maybe that's just me. |
Man, Kyuranger really knows how to put a smile on my face. This whole episode was insanely fun.

Random thought: Do you think Lucky's tragic-childhood flashback with him sitting around burning ruins is ever going to be mentioned again?
I wondered why that didn't come up when we learned that Orian was his ancestor. Wouldn't that kinda tie in? Like his planet was attacked because of that? Also, time-travel isn't working like this in the show but it would be kinda neat if all those tragic events that happened in the earlier lives of the Kyurangers were caused because Don Armage saw them in the past and tried to kill them before they could become the "Ultimate Saviors". Anyways, that was the most interest thoughts I had while the episode just flew by. Other than Joe Longbow returning and the setup for Champ I was bored as usual with this show. The new mecha isn't very cool either, I just noted how the interior looks exactly the same... "because it's nostalgic" or whatever the commander said. Yeah sure, that's the reason :lol |
Hey, they also set us up to believe that thirty plus episodes were all going to be spent on Earth. That hasn't happened. I feel cheated. (sarcasm filter on high)

Anyone else notice that the pic of Xiao versus a giant monster doesn't have Pega this time? They really did try to ignore him after the prop damage!

The little subplot involving the twisted personalities probably could of been shortened. Kinda took away from what was suppose to be the main point of this episode, the discovery of the Battle Orion Ship. With that said, I still kinda liked the episode. The Battle Orion Ship is cool and it's nice to have Shou back.

I liked the monster a whole lot, his power was interesting. I was kind of annoyed by the twisted personality b-plot, though.

1. Did anyone feel confused when the opening song started without any sort of recap?
2. Am I the only one that didn't understand what the personalities of Hammy, Sparda, and Balance were changed to? It's like the episode was so busy shoving the toy commercial into our faces that it forgot its own plot. This would have been a perfect opportunity to have explored those characters a bit. Were they supposed to be lazy? Angry? Dopey? Sleepy? I don't get it. I felt the whole episode suffered by this D story that served no purpose whatsoever. |

Either way, that still doesn't fix how pointless that whole plot even was. Thanks nonetheless. |

I'll take your word for it. I watched OT's subs and was utterly lost in their changes. Again, actually putting the focus on them this episode instead of the new toy sale would have helped immensely.

https://i.imgur.com/tH4ZqqM.jpg Dr Kain, I like you and everything, but for crap's sake, do you watch Kyuranger to pass the time while doing dishes or something? It WASN'T random and it WAS explained. This isn't super complicated. The monster with the power to turn things around flipped their personalities around. The normally polite and reserved Spada... https://i.imgur.com/7QsR5Pm.jpg ...Acts like an unhinged jerk. Hammy, whose entire character revolves around being youthful and perky... https://i.imgur.com/fFZlCl1.jpg ...Becomes a tired old person. Balance, the energetic one who talks in slang constantly... https://i.imgur.com/mFhSxYF.jpg ...Starts constantly talking in an overly formal fashion instead. Quote:
Your critiques of Kyuranger aren't always without merit and I definitely agree with you that Spada, Hammy, and ESPECIALLY Garu could use some more development, but instead of focusing on easily justifiable gripes like this, you constantly spend time basically making up s*** to complain about with this show and it really frustrates me sometimes. |

I wish I was having it on while washing dishes, that might be more entertaining. :lol
No, we watch the episodes with our friends, but all of use were lost as to what the personalities were supposed to be. We know the villain said he could twist the personalities, but we thought he meant he switched their minds ala the normal mind switching episodes. We spent several minutes trying to figure out who was in who's body before realizing they weren't switched, they were just... whatever they were. I honestly don't remember ever seeing those subtitles in the episode though. I just remember for some reason Lucky was telling them the opposite of what he wanted them to do and they did it. |

Kind of sad Mr.Twisty got killed off. He looked like a villain with a LOT of potential with his power. Great episode and I love how very sly Naga has become (Balance's influence no doubt).
