Ok here I go

Overall i'd an say this was a pretty strong start for the new garo.
Sword is like no golden knight we have ever seen before. Sophie seems like she might be a pretty interesting character and may actually be quite important to the plot. El Dorado seems like a interesting mystery for the plot of the show (what ever it is). And unfortunately Sword, it seems will be joining leon and raikou in not obtaining gouten, cause who needs gouten when you have a zaruba powered motorcycle😅. On that note I would never expected to get motorcycle action ala-rider style in garo, I would have never thought that it would actually be so incredibly natural to garo.

Overall besides the sudden leap to modern day in the anime (something that only the live-action entries have handled so far) this anime seems to show some promise

I'll have to find another way to watch this since Crunchyroll has decided to region lock it.

So any idea where this series will take place? My guess is New York or some American City but not entirely sure. So far I like Sword he seems awesome from just being a guy who enjoys life everytime he sees big tits and eats a big rare steak. I could easily see Sword being a decedent of Germán Luis from the first anime.

As someone who didn't like the first Garo cartoon and barely made it through one episode of the second, is there anything about this that might make it more worth watching?

Yes, Zaruba as a giant, ridiculous looking motorcycle.

Yes. It's actually well animated, the city-setting already feels far more populated than GARO usually manages and Sword is pretty different to the usual Golden Knight archetype.

Basically this premiere was really, really good. The kind of quality the franchise should have been getting from the start.

I still need to check out the Garo anime. I saw episode 1 of the first anime like two years ago and I enjoy. People have been telling me good things about Episode 1 of this anime series so far.

1. Based on the reveal announcement the place is called Russel city but based on the first episode it seems to be heavily inspired by new york
2. So hes leon's descendant which would make sense since he is the bearer of the golden armor

That is if they want to make them connected. Remember Crimson Moon was it's on thing so it is possible that each of the anime series is their own thing.

Are the Garo anime series link with each other? I only seen the first live action show and the first episode of the anime.

So is this series before Taejima donned the armor or after Raiga?

Until there's an official announcement/explanation, none of the anime series are connected. They're their own separate series.

I dont believe the anime series are connected to the live action series. Similar to what I said to Guyver Spawn, unless there is an official announcement/explanation, they aren't connected. If it were, there would be continuity issues (if it were set before Saejima, I'm guessing you mean Taiga Saejima since you put 'Taejima"). Technology-wise, Vanishing Line couldn't be before Taiga's time as Garo.

I am in utter shock of this episode, who knew a first episode of a GARO Anime could be good and exciting. The last two were basically very difficult to get through and didn't get good for a few episodes. I love Sword, he is fun and badass. Also, the action scene was more like the Live-Action shows which were exciting to watch. Zaruba's motorcycle form was pretty cool. I can't wait for more.

But i think the purpose of the garo anime is creating the franchise's full (or at least fuller) lore. I mean it makes a lot of sense when you look at seal of flames and crimson moon.

I agree with you there. I have no problem with expanding lore and if they wanted to make everything connected and canon, seal of flames and crimson moon would be easily placed in canon pre-Saejima (and either before SOF, between SOF and CM, or after CM, Gouki from Garo Ashura would be Garo). The main point I was saying was that Vanishing Line can't be set before Saejima as it would conflict canon non-Makai technology-wise. It would most likely be after Raiga or before/after Ryuga

Problem is didn't makai tales establish that ryuga and the saejima line were different universe's rather then different points in the same timeline?

Maybe... However, the last episode of Makai Retsuden/Tales had a cameo by Eyrith who has time manipulating powers which allowed her to take Rekka and Rian. This would suggest that either a) Rekka and Rian are from different points of the same timeline or b) one of them is from an alternate timeline that branched off the original timeline. I would think a) is more plausible as from the short amount of time that we saw Eyrith's powers in Makai no Hana, her powers manipulated the timeline she is in (given the fact that she was responsible for Kaoru and Kouga's disappearances in the past).

However, looking up season 3 on wikipedia, it says set in a alternate universe, so I'm not sure. I'll have to rewatch Makai Retsuden to see if I might have misinterpreted something.

Anyway, about Vanishing Line, saw it yesterday and definitely liked it. Unlike the previous two anime series, the first episode has me hooked and cant wait to see more. 10/10 for badass Zaruba bike.

Except one of them, I forget which, explicitly talks to the other about knowing the Garo of her universe. Now, I don't know Japanese, so I don't know how accurate that translation is, but it implies a multiverse situation.

I watched this, the animation seriously was insane. I am not sure if they will be able to keep it up for the whole runtime though, feel like it was a good idea to spend a lot of money on the premiere though. gets a lot of people hooked right in.

Exactly she asks if she knows the garo of that WORLD not of that time that can clearly be heard in what she was saying.

True but b seems to make more sense considering that ryuga's world seems to have some clearly differnt rules:
1. Notice how never even once in yamo o terasu mono and gold storm do they mention the time limit for makai armor nor do we see the timer that was present in almost every episode for seajima line.
2. The tower of heroic spirits doesn't seem to exist in ryuga's world (possibly destroyed in a alternate timeline)

You may be right. I might've missed that part while I was watching it.

the Tower of Heroic Spirits does exist in Ryuga's "world". It's where the tarnished/blackened Garo armor was placed prior to Yami o Terasu Mono and it was there that Ryuga became fascinated with it and promised to become Garo. Design-wise, it didnt resemble the "all-white, almost heavenly" appearance.

Was checking when Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond's simuldub begins and saw that Funimation just started the simuldub for Vanishing Line today. It had been a while since I've watched Garo, so I gave it a shot.

Gotta say, this is one of the best introduction episodes of Garo I've seen. Flashy action, simple explanation of what's happening, creepy rape-y Horror, boobs in the first scene, armor finisher, and for good measure Zaruba's here to be a ring...ON A MOTORCYCLE!. Yep, this is how you start a Garo series.

Is anyone else still watching? I kinda like this show. The characters are cool, the animation is solid and the plots are interesting to me.

Granted, there's not a whole lot of Garo in it which confuses me a bit, but maybe that's actually one of the show's strengths.

We don't need 5 minutes of Garo every episode for things to be cool. Although I wish they would explain the lack of it a bit, like have it as a plot point, Sword either can't control it very long or maybe he hasn't even acquired it yet. I mean he did, but with the series not showing it a whole lot they could've delayed its debut until a certain point.

Also, the very few times I watched the actual Garo the armor didn't appear for long in each episode either.

I watched one episode and didn’t hate it, but wasn’t interested enough to go back. My biggest issue is that the main character came off as a complete douchebag.

I'm still loving this show a lot, but yeah the lack of Garo armour is very odd. I mean the franchise in general has never been big on lengthy armour sequences, but we're six episodes in and I'm not even sure how different Sword's version of the armour is.

Still, the characters are enough to keep me loving it. Sword's a big departure from the usual Garo-archetype which I dig a lot (he's a big 80s style action hero with a heart of gold) and the support characters are all extremely strong as well. Sophie's one of the best non-Makai characters the franchise has had.

Given that Sword is a big, bulky man, maybe doesn't need to use the armor right away until he finishes the horror off.

Also does any other Garo series have more weird horrors than Vanishing Line? I am asking because this series has a black horror (would call it a negro horror but I feel like that would be worse) and a vagina horror with demon titties.

Yeah. Check out the original series, Makai Senki, or Makai no Hana. The Saejima shows tend to have the more awesome Horrors.

But is there a season with weirder ones? I want to see something bat shit insane that only Japan can think of.

I'd say those three probably have the weirdest ones, yeah. The clown from the original series probably takes the cake, though.

I hope Makai no Hana has weird ones then because I saw both the original and Makai Senki and they seemed normal considering the themes in the series.
