Kamen Rider Build Episode 9- "The Trap Of Project Build" Discussion
The enigmatic Katsuragi has been revealed as the creator of the Build Driver. If the secrets of this invention were to leak outside to the other corners of the Sky Wall, war could break out between the sectors.
Sento must figure out his role in the Build plan... SuperHeroTime HAS MOVED TIMESLOTS! You can still view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block now start at 8PM EST on Saturdays! |

two words : mind blown
Amazing ending. And now is the time for episodes to take a break. Damn. - SmaphoWolf actually already exists somewhere - Outside scene with Misora and Banjo was very nice - the 2 "random" scientists from 2 weeks ago are not so random after all. They're part of Faust. - WTF ! Sawa is the "ally turning evil" Misora actress talked about. I kinda prefer it like that instead of Banjo or Souichi to be honest. But I don't know how it can play an active part now. - Katsuragi not really dead, and next week's preview kinda points at him being BloodStark. Theories kinda becoming true little by little. |
I have decided to drop Build now for one reason. Katsuragi says "MUGEN NO KANOSEI"
|
I knew Sawa was working for Faust. Whenever she got a lead on something and tells the gang, Faust were right behind them.

The new cast member introduced in this episode, Nanba Juusaburou, is played by Hamada Akira, who portrayed Mister Titan in Kamen Rider Stronger. It's always cool to see actors come back to the franchise, and man is this one a throwback. Apparently he also had a minor role in OOO, but I haven't seen that. But yeah. He's Titan. Also re: this episode: kinda sad that Sento already knew LionCleaner was a Best Match because I was expecting some good comedy out of the scene where he figured that out. And Sawa is evil, I guess. Honestly, I've been saying things to that effect in a joking matter pretty much since the show started, and the fact that she did actually turn out to be working for the bad guys just amuses me immensely. While I think she was pretty much the only real choice for what Misora's actress leaked about an ally turning out to be a enemy, it still caught me slightly off-guard. |
probably late to the party but I just realized that Banjo disguise is literally Kisaragi Gentaro

That outside scene with Ryuuga and Misora was nice. It was cooler to see them as delinquents.
And oh my god does Faust have everything covered. Gentoku doesn't leave a lot to chance, does he? And now I'm confused. Is BloodStalk Katsuragi the Scientist or is he Isurugi the Cafe-owner? The preview suggests the former yet the theories here support the latter. I'm guessing that BloodStalk really is the Scientist if only because I don't want the cafe owner to be the villain. That would still leave a few things unexplained such as Satou Taro gaining intelligence after Katsuragi's death (where did that boost come from if not Katsuragi?), BloodStalk always being one step ahead of Build (he probably is the owner that's why he knows Sento's every move) and Katsuragi's various back-up plans (If he was BloodStalk, he would know where he hid the USB in episode 8). It is possible for Katsuragi to be BloodStalk after all but they would have to show a lot more for it to make sense. |

At most he should know that the key was fake. But Stark wasn't anywhere near Gentoku/Utsumi when the mother gave the key. Quote:

That ending! I swear, this show just gets better and better. I'm starting to suspect that Sawa might be the spider themed villain now, it just seems appropriate to me. I almost wish I wasn't watching this show live, I would love to binge it. I also love how most of Ryuuga and Sento's interactions can be summed up as:
Ryuuga: *is angry at Sento for REASONS* Sento: *extremely altruistic behavior* Ryuuga: Wow, I am kind of a terrible person. |
that was such a perfect episode! Perfect pacing and not moving too fast like earlier episodes, perfect amount of action, perfect amount of character development and exposition,..a little bit of back story on Misora plus the fun 'going outside' scene. A twist at the end revealing the journalist woman is a traitor.
So much good in one episode. If I had to complain about something it would be that dang Vacuum Cleaner arm. I hate it. ..I really hate it. I like Rabbit-Tank and Gatling-Hawk,...some of them are 'ok' like Ninja-Comic or Panda..whatever. But that Vacuum Cleaner arm is just too ridiculous. If he had some kind of 'suction/vortex' power it would be fine,..but his arm actually looking like a 1950's vacuum cleaner just annoys the crap out of me in an irrational way. It's too silly. But other then that, it was a perfect episode and the first one I rated 'Excellent' in the weekly Tokunation 'rate this episode' poll. |
Even if the Soichi/Stalk theory doesn't work out, Katsuragi as Stalk still makes a lot of sense. Measuring his Hazard levels, giving him fullbottles, defending him from Rogue are all his way of experimenting with the Rider system to perfect it.

or Katsuragi overwrote himself onto Sento?
How does a guy go from filthy dumb musician to brilliant physicist with no memory of his past? I'm wondering if Stalk is the owner of the diner. |

Okay, now I know this one's a little abstract, but if you look at that stack of photos closely one of them is totally Build on his bike, which definitely does count and definitely is not cheating my own rules. Also, two episodes in between bike action is pretty forgivable compared to the dozens of episodes in between for most Rider shows at this point. I'm gonna cut Build as much slack as I can here. The episode was just a little above the already high average this show has set. Lots to talk about with this one: - Did you know I actually didn't like Misora at all for the first few episodes? You shouldn't since I haven't mentioned it yet. I figured an episode would come along soon enough to flesh her out into a real character and guess what? It only took Build about five minutes to turn my opinion on her completely around! - It was nice enough to have a big evil organization again, but I wasn't expecting one that knows how get things *done* the way Faust does. What a way to end an episode! - So, I'm terrible at speculation, but I'm definitely onboard the "Sento is Katsuragi" train now. Between the "If it were me" line when Sento figured out that anagram (which would be extremely slick foreshadowing given how innocuous it sounds at face value), how strangely personally he seemed to take everything that happened with Katsuragi's mother (not even just that omelette), Ryuuga's beef with Sento for defending him here (the revelation that they're one and the same would make great drama), and the talk about Sento "trying to be the person he'd want to be" (again, having that guilt thrust upon him = drama), it just seems extremely obvious. They could even do the big turn around later on in the show, where once Sento finds out who he is he gets all mopey and suddenly Ryuuga has to be the one to point out all the good he's done as Build (further playing into the general theme the show seems to have of what makes someone a hero). The narrative potential here is just too juicy. I could go on like this for a while. I'll actually be kind of angry if this ISN'T the case. - As for Blood Stalk? His voice doesn't match anyone's like Night Rogue's really obviously did right away, so I got nothing. Either they're cheating or it's nobody we know yet. |

ryuuga as Gentaro was fucking gold, since he was trying to ....be friends with Misora. Fanboys recognizing her voice as militants was hilarious
SmaphoWolf....I need it Saw a heel turn/reveal, well done NANBA CEO gonna be the big bad? |

Well the show become more interesting..
Night Rogue really want to steal Pandora Box, Sawa is Faust's spy, and Katsuragi is still alive..... I also really like when Misora finally gets some of her development...... Build LionCleaner Form is really cool too... Hopely Build SumahoWolf Form can be used in series too Next episode, maybe Sento will know about Night Rougue' identity is his own boss, Gentoku.. |

When katsuragi said "see you" I was almost sure Build already said that at some point but I was too lazy to check in what episode (and honestly I don't know if I would have thought to check his Ex-Aid appearance). |
Well, that explains why Sawa isn’t in the opening credits. I hope she’s not a short term character, though; I like having a weekly Yukari Taki fix.
|
So... does anyone know what Build is being pushed back TWO WEEKS for?

Sawa being a spy finally gels with her hairstyle. That's not an honest journalist hairstyle, more like a spy or ambitious corporate secretary hairstyle.
Just like Kayoko Anne Patterson's. (God, she is delicious) But I'm still not sure that Sawa is completely evil. She maybe just trying to get deeeper scoop into the whole Faust-Build-Three Countries matter. And Sento maybe has Katsuragi in him, Ex-Aid or W style. His smart maybe planted there by Katsuragi and Katsuragi maybe still inside him, silent passenger style, waiting for good time to emerge. Owner may know this. Heck, He maybe is Blood Stalk, protecting Misora, his demeanor is also someone who is playful. |
So at this point I'm thinking this: BS and NR aren't prototypes but instead are attempts at copying the build driver system and perhaps meant to be used by normal humans not exposed to nebula gas since I can't see the main bad guys taking the risk that they'd either die or end up a SMASH.

You are probably correct though, but unlike those who have become riders due to the gas, they likely have a limit to their strenght level, while the nebula gas riders are able to go past that level, knowing Kamen Rider in general though, that might have some very bad potential effects in the long run. |
