Not my cup of tea but if you want 'em more power to you!
|
Those quarter scale helmets look nice. If anything I wouldn't mind picking those up over the 1/1 versions.

My relation with the infamous "Flip Heads" has been dicey over the years. I had the Original Six save for Blue and Black and lost all of the weapons, Green's Dragon Shield was broken, and bid on overly priced Power Weapons and Blue and Black on Ebay to complete them! I might do Red because mine is not in the best of shape (though the body is intact), and Green is missing everything not factory-attached!
I'll go and say it: I like the Legacy Zords! Their quality of their appearance is hard to ignore! The Imaginext T-Rex was a good start and while simplistic, isn't a bad figure to speak of! The Legacy T-Rex has appearance and range of motion leading to greater possibilities, making it a worthwhile figure for display and play. If they sell, we might be able to get a show-accurate Legacy Red Dragon Thunderzord, fully capable of posing and transforming without the stranglehold of being diminished in size to accommodate Megazord combination(s). |
Surely those flip heads aren't the actual Legacy version right? They're just scans of the old 90's releases.
Wish they'd stop wasting time on cheap looking Legacy Zords and miniture helmets and give us the rest of the Power Weapons and a complete collection of life size helmets. Also a Yellow & Black Movie Morpher and Shogun Megazord wouldn't go unappreciated! |
I need The Auto-Morphin Rangers. Zords look great as figures, but zords that don’t combine is a tough sell.

Looking at the flip-head figures my first thought was "I need these so bad!" Then I looked at the price. I just can't pay $25 on nostalgia for a shitty toy. For the price, those have to be placeholder images, right?

Why hasn't the concept of flip head morphing been thrown in the trash yet? They literally always objectively look like dogshit.
|
Hmm, let me think about those zords...
My eyes say, "Yes!" My wallet says, "No!" My Soul of Chogokin: MEGAZORD says, "No!" Well it's Two against One, sorry Bandai. |
Reissues of the flip-heads sounds neat in theory, but you can still score the original six MOC for a pretty decent price.
Now, if they reissued Rocky, Adam, Aisha, Kat, and White Ranger Tommy (especially if they can make the chest shield without GPS), then we can talk. |
If the zords were like around $12 then I can see it working but for over $30 no.

Where are we seeing the prices? Those Zord figures look nice, but if I were to spend money on the original Megazord, I'd want it to transform.

No megazord, no business. Sorry BoA, if you want my business then produce a Legacy Shogun Megazord. I'm not paying $25 for a flip head figure, and I have plenty of MMPR Dino stuff. Get me excited for new stuff, not old stuff repackaged, or non-transforming zord figures. We should be on In Space megazords by now but you're dragging your heals with black and gold repaints.

2. The Legacy Megazords require a high budget by BoA. In order to A. recover the cost of engineering and producing molds like these and B. maintain a shelf presence of new product while doing (A), the black and gold megazords help BoA out A LOT! Plus, it acts as a "second chance get" for those who missed out on the first releases. It's how I got a Legacy Titanus. I personally don't get why we're getting non-transforming Zords of Daizyuzin, though. It'd be much more awesome if they put more effort into it and we ended up with an 18" Megazord if you got all five. |

Didn't know where else to put this so I put it here.
The 4 wave of Legacy figures are out and sadly gold ranger has no paint on his shield only plastic which make him look like crap. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bbh_96IAIdT/ |
I have a stupid question. If Bandai is so hard up for money, why is it bothering making these new molds for limited articulation Zords? Why not simply make some more of the Legacy Zords and sell them all separately, a la the Netflix Voltron series? Obviously, you can only do that with the main Megazords and not the 6th Ranger Zords like Dragonzord or Titanus, but I would imagine it would be cheaper.
Also, why are they using brand new molds for the Legacy line? Granted, they have less articulations, but why not use similar molds that were used for the Legendary Rangers in the Super Megaforce line? IIRC, most people were pretty happy with those molds. Just paint the weapons, which isn't too much trouble. |

Bandai reuses pieces and molds like it's nobody's business. During the "Armored Might" line of figures, they reused the Thundercats molds from the failed Thundercats toy line (the super beefy articulated pieces). With the Legacy 6.5" line, they've used the same shoulders, torsos, legs, and arms in almost every figure (with the exception of a few pieces). Now, Bandai is using the same engineering from the Legacy 6.5" Power Rangers line for their Dragon Ball Super figures. I don't own any, but I can imagine there's some similar pieces (because it's the same scale). So where they're hard pressed for money is beyond me. As for the Legacy Zords ... no one knows. No one asked for those. No one was asking for "SUPER ARTICULATED NON-TRANSFORMING ZORDS PLZ". Soul of Chogokin Daizyujin solved the need for most people. The obvious answer - Bandai is struggling to find reasons to keep Mighty Morphin on the shelves. It is a fact that Mighty Morphin sells the best, but it's also fact that they have barely released anything except Mighty Morphin. But all these new additions to the Legacy line is being done because retailers want Mighty Morphin because it sells, and Bandai is happy to oblige. |
