Subs are out now. So after Misora learned what Faust was really doing with the Full Bottles Soichi pretty much realised that he needed to get her to believe she was purifying the bottles for good.
This fits in very well with the theory that Sento is Katsuragi. So the whole motivation has been to purify all the full bottles, and once Faust realised that they couldn't get Misora to do any more Soichi obviously hatches a plan to get it back by wiping Katsuragi's memory and changing his face. Whether Katsuragi agreed to this or whether Soichi was manipulating Katsuragi remains to be seen but it seems quite likely that Faust had identified potential candidates for their Kamen Rider system and the whole "Katsuragi death" was just a means to get candidates for Faust to be test subjects for the Rider system. Hence, Sato Taro was lured into a trap and killed by Blood Stalk/Soichi, who then swaps his face with Katsurgi's using the suit's in built ability. Katsuragi is then exposed to nebula gas to wipe his memories and therefore create an ideal candidate for being a Kamen Rider, since he has no memories he can be whatever Soichi wants him to be. The unconcious body of Katsuragi with the new face is then carried to an alleyway and after he comes to, Soicihi pretends to have "found" the man who he calls "Sento Kiryu". Wouldn't be surprised if this is what is revealed over the next episode, the question is whether they will fit this in to Episode 16 as well since that is supposed to be the "Christmas" epsiode. I suppose Ex-Aid put their Christmas part of the episode to the bare minimum so I would expect Build do so too., especially if the new driver is supposed to debut after Christmas which either means Kamen Rider Grease will make his debut in Episode 17 or Banjo's upgrade will happen. Sento and Banjo are also supposed to start falling out with each other soon, so the reasons why they come into conflict are going to be interesting. EDIT: Oh yeah, and Soichi can fly. That is a bit weird, leading to further evidence that he may be from Mars. |
So Souichi was playing the Truman Show with everyone.

It seems that BloodStalk managed to steal Venosnaker from Kamen Rider Ouja....
Another great episode for Build. I'm loving this season. Everything from the story, to the characters, to the suit design to the humor is really working for me. If Sento really is Katsuragi, then I'm wondering if Kamen Rider Grease is Taro Satou. |

Wow, Blood Stalk is a real chessmaster. I didn't expect his plan to go THIS far.
I like RabbitTank Sparkling a lot more than I expected, there is something extremely funny about watching Blood Stalk get owned by a soda power-up. |
I find it amazing that this show can do both comedy and series drama so well and in the same episode. The testing and "discussion" scenes in the lab were some of the funniest stuff ever, followed by some of the more series stuff in the whole show. And it somehow still felt natural.
There's still more going on with Blood Stalk than we know about. He once again, basically help them get more powerful and straight up gave them the box and told them to get stronger. He's up to something other than what he's saying. Plus he straight up told them who Night Rogue is, although that can be more of the same rivalry we've seen so far. No one's mentioned it so far, but it was revealed what collecting all the bottles does. It opened the box, which supposedly contains a massive power source such as you might make a WMD out of, but I'm not convinced that part is true. Stalk is almost certainly not telling the trust about whatever is really inside that thing. |
that was a good episode. And you're right the humor in this show is always really good and sort of comes up unexpectedly but it flows well. The testing scene when Banjo gets blown across the room and you realize Sento was hiding behind the shield just calmly taking notes was pretty funny. And bribing him with a protein drink to take Misora out was pretty funny.
The fight scene was good, and I was prepared for the most epic Rider kick ever dropping out of the sky from a great height, but for some (disappointing) reason they hit Stalk with soda bubbles instead of finishing up the Rider Kick. Which ...eh...that's not nearly as cool as it could've been. I mean Sento was like 6 or 8 stories up in the air, that would've been an amazing Rider Kick dropping out of the sky like the fist of an angry god. But oh well. Looking forward to the next episode. |
Gyaaa ha ha... that DANG HENSHIN MAN! Really that whole scene of them standing in the rain expositing, and when they're about to transform the sound effects just fade and create probably one of the most chilling scenes I've ever seen. Has any other Rider show done that, just cut out the transformation sounds for a dramatic scene? I haven't seen all of them yet so I wouldn't know.
Other than that, I love the comedy in this series and this episode took the cake. I actually ended up almost choking on my food when Sento suggested Misora and Ryuga go on another "date". And the dramatic stuff was delightful, not even taking away from the funny bits. Just the right mix of jokes and drama, or should I say BEST MATCH HAHAHahahahaa...... eh... sorry. |
Oh I forgot to mention, I liked the running Henshin that Banjo did, instead of standing there in a pose he transformed while running forward and they showed the (machine?) moving along with him as he ran while the two pieces smashed together. I thought that was really cool. I can't recall seeing a running Henshin on this show before this latest episode.
|
That henshin cinematography in the rain. Oh boy, some hollywood cinematographers will outright envy that to the bone. Who's the cinematographer on this show and from what part of hollywood did they steal him?
|
F*** Build is good. This episode was so on point they didn't even do that obnoxious thing form debuts have been doing for a couple years now where there's an awkward commercial break right after the transformation that completely kills the flow. If it had just had some bike action in there too I'd call it absolute perfection. :p
Also the music that accompanied the climax was the most Kenji Kawai Kenji Kawai's soundtrack for this show has gotten so far. It got buried under all the noise pretty quickly (the curse of having talking belt toys to shill), but I loved it. |
Build is probably the funniest Rider show to date that I've seen. At the very least the funniest since OOO for me (haven't seen Fourze).
I'm talking legit "laugh out loud" humor. The scene with Sento and Banjo bickering through body language was hilarious. I think a lot of it comes from the actors who all seem to have excellent delivery and timing. The complete absence of a clear cut comedy relief character also helps, since the humor feels natural. At this point I'm questioning whether or not Bloodstark is 'Still' Human or if something else came back from Mars. I loved the slow drawn out reveal here as it really ramped up the tension.

what I liked in the episode : the comedy parts
what I disliked : the fake full bottle deus ex machina. It clearly smells writer being : "We need Souichi taking the full bottles and pandora's box, but no idea how Sentou will get the bottles again. How do we do ?" |
I am just now thinking:
So Misora is actual Souichi's daughter and not some "daughter" he borrows from FAUST. Or is she? She could be personification of the Pandora's box emerged from the box in form of a female child, planted in everyone's memory by the box as Stalk's daughter, and used to purify smash essence. Hey, the box changes personality, it might as well change memories. The Nebula gas change memories too. Speaking of memories, when shall we see Katsu...I meant Sentou's original memories? Nabeshima has his back. |
Yeah the question of relation between Souichi and Misora is made veeeeeeeeeeeery blurry during that ep.
Never mentioning "hey it's my real daughter" or made it clear she isn't. |

Is it wrong that I didn't give one care about the episode the moment the intro came up with the movie scenes? EXCITED!!!!!
|
This episode officially ranks as one of my favorites of this season. The visual direction for the fights, the contrast of funny with dramatic, all of it. Just so good. No motorcycling on this one, but the introduction of Sparkling didn't feel like a thrown on suit addition. I love how they keep adding a little more each episode to the overall drama.

Build is probably the only show aside from Gaim that I actually want to rewatch as soon as it's over. It's just... so f-ing good. |
Damn this episode.
I only like a handful of the Build suits and Sparkling is down the right down the bottom of the list (though it does look better in motion I will admit) but damn who cares when the writing is this good. Crazy to think we're only 14 episodes in and so much has happened. Stark was a great villain to begin with, but now we know it's Souichi and can see him out of suit it's like he's taken on some extra layer of greatness. |
I find it kind of amusing that as soon as Build turns out to be good people say they don't like the suit designs anymore...
Fair enough on the alternate forms, but imo the base forms for the riders and Transteam users so far look great. In terms of overall series I feel Gaim may have competition with Build. Shogo Muto is proving an inspired choice of main writer so far and I've enjoyed every episode so far. My only concern is that toy sales may change the direction of the plot and lead to a situation like in Ex-Aid where Dan Kuroto and Kiriya both got revived (apparently there was a heavy rewrite around the latter half due to this). Just hope we don't have any characters who feel unnecessary in the long run and that the standard of writing can continue right the way through an entire 48 episode season or however long Build turns out to be, because we've had so much good so far that I fear the plot may end up having to be stretched to meet the full season length and we may be forced to get guest writers in to write filler episodes like in Gaim where three of the episodes were promotion material not written by Urubochi. Excited to see how it unfolds but I suspect one thing is for sure, war is inevitable. It seems like the natural way to esculate the conflict and who knows, maybe Soichi's training of Sento is meant to lead up to the acquisition of his final form. |
Hazard level is the key to everything, I suppose.
I am thinking Souichi is acting like an evil Elon Musk and trying to elevate Rider tech to make astronauts that can live in Mars and terraform it. |
Gotta bring some balance to the lovefest here I suppose.
The first half was amazing in how it balanced ther seriousness with an shot in the arm of Humor but still kept the gears of plot turning. And then we get to second half where Shouichi comes back for the bottles, and man it crashed hard for me. I expected all the compliments to come from the first half and yep that's what it is. We got a load of tropey crap that dragged on for far too long in the end. I like the idea that Sento was thinking if he needed to use his power-up because he did'nt want to go all-out on Master but other than that it was trope after trope like the last second save and Cross-Z being useless anyway. It was all Kamen Rider Tropes too to boot. It was like they had this amazing set-up at the start and good resolution but a filler sandwich was what they had to resort to |

I've said from the beginning I like Rabbit-Tank and Gatling-Hawk and find the rest (especially vacuum arm) to be completely ridiculous looking.
The big diamond on his shoulder, or the train track across his eye, the panda one, ninja-comic,..they all look ridiculous to me. Stalk and Rogue look cool but the unicorn horns in the middle of their foreheads look goofy too. But I've said that the whole time. Good show, good characters, ridiculously goofy looking costumes. Especially vacuum arm. I really hate that one and find it almost demeaning a Kamen Rider is wearing something so stupid looking. We've gone from something awesome like Agito Burning or Kuuga Ultimate Rising, or many other cool looking forms,...to a vacuum for an arm. Jeezus. |
Eh, it might just be me being completely immune to the ridiculousness of certain Toku-elements at this point but I think Build's suits are fine. Some are really awesome too, I think Cross-Z is the best one in this show so far.
I like Sparkling quite a bit too, what I really love is how the tank- and rabbit-eyes roided out. They look much more menacing now. |
Great episode, and personally I really like Sparkling. Those jagged edges are absolutely my aesthetic, then again I’ve liked pretty much all the build suits so far.
But seriously absolutely great episode |

This isn’t just something I object to in Build though. It’s a similar reason to why I don’t have much love for the lvl 3 suits in Ex-Aid. I’m just not a big fan of the ones that just happen. And with Build it’s been too much too soon for me to really feel anything about them. |

That said, I have no problem with the suits. I really like the basic design of the Build suit's overlapping halves and I think most of the forms, even the sillier ones, look damn good. This show has easily my favorite suits since Drive (not that Ghost and Ex-Aid set high bars, but I still really like these). |

I like the Build forms for the most part; Pirate-Densha is the only one that might be pushing it so far. What I'm bothered by are how toyish the weapons look, especially NinjaComic's sword: couldn't they have made it look like a real katana while still retaining the blade-shaped-like-a-fountain-pen design? I also wish the bottles had more of a lab vial look. |

This does raise things a bit. I think what we have is a xanatos gambit being run by soichi. Consider that every time it looks like he loses he win. I think this guy has the board rigged.
Also from what we have seen what ever he is after is none of the goals that have been states. Opening pandora's box probably isn't his objective either its something else we don't know. So far creating a weaponized mass production kamen rider system was what night rogue wanted and Nanba wants the power to build a super weapon so its not that either probably means that whats in the box is something else. I do have an idea though its called pandora's box so its like in doctor who a small object thats bigger on the inside and something really bad is sealed inside and its able to influence people outside, just a possibility. Also it looks like a show down with night rogue is coming and im wondering if this guy has out lived his usefulness. i get the feeling that he is just a pawn thats not even aware he is just a pawn and is about to die, or be sent off to heal for 20 episodes and show up later powered up into super night rogue |

no way to be sure of that and we don't know for certain it could be someone else and considering whats coming in the next episode, also i get the sense form him that he isn't that good an evil mastermind i have this feeling that he is just some whiny entitled jerk who doesn't know what he is doing. Look at what he has actually done, other than constantly send out smash he has conspired to steal the box, that about it. He really hasn't done much.
