TokuNation - 6 Years Old Today
 

Hey everyone.

Today we celebrate being here with you for 6 years. That's a long time when it comes to "blogs", or "forums", etc. A lot of stuff has happened in the last 6 years, and in this thread I'll share some memories of starting this place up, our staff past present and future, as well as some of our future plans for this year.

Thank you all so much for being part of everything - then, now, and tomorrow - and we look forward to continuing to provide you UNBIASED news, galleries/reviews, and more in the future.

Thanks for keeping the site running all this time. I may be nowhere near as active as I could be, but this place is always good to come back to and read about whatever news I've missed, people's opinions on how good Build is, and whining about Web Exclusives. Here's to many, many more! :D

This is the only Toku forum that I really go on. Glad to see it still running today.

So some of our plans for this year include:

- A *TON* of YouTube content

Everyone likes those short, informative, or even "list" videos that the big name YouTube channels pump out about Power Rangers. Even if they don't like them, they still watch 'em. Sadly, the info is usually inaccurate or incomplete. Well, it's time to do them as professional as we can get them but CREATED by Power Rangers fans. We're also looking at doing Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, it's just harder to do with footage as Toei is quick to just shut down your video vs Saban Brands just copyright claiming it.

- Site relaunch

We're getting an overhaul! Possibly in the next couple of weeks. Nothing major to the way it works or the forums, just a new site logo. Don't worry - the T isn't going anywhere, but it's pretty slick and I think you all will enjoy it.

- Gallery explosion

574 galleries in 6 years. Can you say 700 total galleries by the end of 2018? :) That's an average of 2.5 a week-ish.

- Contests & Giveaways

We're working on some partnerships to get you guys more free stuff that doesn't (literally) drain our bank accounts. No promises, but we could have some cool stuff on the way.

Phases.

Phase one is just the logo - the entire "header" bar, so to speak. Ditching the current logo. Was fun for ... geez, 4 years? The new logo is VERY NICE, I think you guys will like it.

Second phase will result in a bigger overhaul, of which I can't speak to yet, except that it will go testing on another network site first, and if it works, then here.

I dig the site. I had to build a forum for work a couple weeks ago with php and I sort of have a whole new respect for forums now. There's a lot more to them than I previously realized. ...I also now dislike php very much, hahaha, I'd rather stick w/ html/css/javascript.

Looking forward to seeing the changes you have planned for Tokunation. Good luck and congrats on the upgrades.

Woohoo! I’m glad I picked this place as my toku forum, it has been a delight!

Hopefully a newer version of vBulletin is implemented on here though. It makes a world's of difference.

Looking forward to more power rangers content. The overwhelming amount of kamen rider stories on the front page are very discouraging. I get that power rangers is in kind of a lul but there's still a show going on and toys to go with it.

if you click on 'News' > 'Power Rangers', at the top of the page, there was a story posted on the 3rd, the 5th, and the 6th. That's 3 stories in the last week.

it sure seems like everything gets pretty equal coverage here.

But to address your point further - Power Rangers is indeed in a lull right now with no real news or information coming out. New toys have been spotted, and we've focused on those lately (specifically from the Legacy line, which has always been advertised as being collector oriented).

As we get closer to the premiere of Super Ninja Steel we will be ramping up our Power Rangers coverage.

You don't think we'd just let the 25th anniversary slide by without doing something, did you? :)

Wrong. Because before that, it was a God awful lot of kamen rider. Pretty much all toys and guess what, I almost never saw power ranger toy articles non-stop. It's why I quit coming around for several months.

Can't post news about Power Rangers when there is no news. Do you want them to make things up just to keep people like you around?

It will be Super Sentai here in about a month or so when Lupinranger vs Patoranger premieres and Q2 toy promotional info drops. Just be ready for it.

Power Rangers is hard to cover lately, especially when everything you're seeing we already saw two years ago in Ninninger. There's been plenty of Power Rangers toy news - it's just not GOOD news (ie: no females, Gold Ranger missing gold, first releases of new Legacy items missing females, etc.)

When the Kyuranger adaptation is officially announced, we'll get back in full swing. I am personally excited to see what they do. Is it official and confirmed they're doing Kyuranger? No - but they skipped trains and Bandai doesn't have a desire to work with blocks - so Kyuranger it is.

I may hardly ever post here anymore, but man I love this site. Modranger, watching all those KR shows for the first time and discussing it in the thread, all the collectible talk as my Toku collecting grew and grew, it just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. I love having a site like this, one that's so passionate about the franchise and encompasses so much.
