Be careful with your SHF Build Rabbit-Tank
 

I saw a review last night where the reviewer was saying the right hand peg snapped off his SHF Build Rabbit-Tank and he had to glue the fist on it so now he can't change hands.

Today my SHF Build R/T came and I popped off the left hand and noticed...

needless to say I very carefully put the hand back on and put it in the box and I guess I'll never play with it again, which really kind of sucks.

$50. and the hand peg is ready to break off right out of the box.

Anyway idk if this is a problem with all the Build R/T's, or if I just had the bad luck to apparently have the same issue that the reviewer I saw last night had. But the peg of the hand-post is notched as if it were sawn through, and it's cleanly through at least half of the post, it's really just a little sliver of plastic that's holding the ball on. It's deeper even then this pic but I was having a hard time getting a good pic. There's no way I can see it holding up to repeated use of switching hands before it shears through.

It's pretty hard to notice unless you're looking for it, and I only looked because while I was switching hands I remembered the review last night and decided to take a closer look, and I'm sure glad I did.

So I thought as a (sort of?) PSA,...I'd mention it here where other people most likely are also picking up SHF Build R/T as well.

I tried to show exactly how deep the notch really is...some of the black in the first pic is the inside of the notch so it looks like it's only 1/3rd of the post that's cut through when it's really more like 1/2 to 2/3'rd cut through.

be careful I guess, if I hadn't noticed it I'm pretty sure I would'be broken it switching hands a few times.

That's how all SHF wrist joints are designed though. Unless there are visible signs of stress or breakage I think you'll be fine.

That’s literally how all figure joints look. Same with figma, revo, whatever.

seriously? That's insane, why would they be like that? I have 25 of the older SHF figures and I never noticed them being like that. (though one does have a broken hand exactly in that spot.)

Why would they be half a post? It's a tiny sliver of plastic holding on that ball. Why wouldn't they make it a solid and much less likely to break piece of plastic? From an engineering standpoint that just makes no sense to me.

Great, now I'm scared to mess with any of them.

I bought a Kamen Rider V2 off of Den-O and he said right as he finished taking pics of it when changing hands the left hand ripped off in that exact spot. That's my one broken figure.

I don't understand why they'd be like that. Intentionally weaken an area that will be under stress from pulling and pushing the hands on/off that brittle post? That's crazy.

the joints are two half balls, theres literally no way to make the peg anything other than half the size because thats all the surface available available. broken wirsts on figuarts aren't a widespread issue, these aren't neca figures.

just seems like a crazy design choice to me. A solid barbell shaped piece, or even hands that ended in a post and ball that you plugged into a socket in the wrist seem like they'd be stronger.

Oh well no harm no foul, I thought it was weird so I posted about it.

it depends who sold the item to you and who makes it some companies will take it back as a defect like amiami - good smile -who make figma and nenodroids will send you a replacement if its form a recent figure they still have stock of-though if you have one you bought recently with the same joint part they can't tell the difference the only thing you need is a photo of it so if say a figure with a blue knee joint broke and you have another one you just bought -switch them and ask them to send a replacement -this way you can get a knew one and if you think about it, its their product failure -figures should be able to take some mild handling but some parts are made so brittle or are defective you just have to work round it. One thing im doing is a review to give people ideas of how figures are. like out of print ones they may buy on ebay where there is no chance or replacement.

I looked at a few other SHF figures in my collection last night and none of them look like the wrist has been cut halfway through with a tiny saw.

I bought the R/T figure on ebay new in a sealed box from a private seller, it seems to be sold out everywhere and it's the only place i could find it.

Honestly, I probably have at least close to if not a hundred SHFs by now, and not once have I had a wrist peg break on me.


The worst issue I've had is the wrist joint on my Amazon Neo and Amazon Sigma wanting to split apart at the seam connecting the two halves of the joint, but all I have to do then is plug the pieces back together.


I think you'll be fine, just be careful when swapping the hands. Don't use too much force, if you kinda just try to wiggle it off slowly, you shouldn't have any problems.

I just worried about it because of that review with the broken wrist and because one of the figures Den-O sold me has a sheared off wrist joint, (which I knew about before I bought it.)..and I figure he has a ton of experience with these figures and still it broke on him.

So I worried it might be a problem.

You can also hit them with a hairdryer or warm water for a few seconds to soften the plastic of the hands a bit.

I had the dratted wrist joint pop out of the arm the very first time I tried swapping hands. Same side, too. At least it wasn't a break.
