Hasbro Confirms Future Plans for Power Rangers movies
|
Sounds good! I do wish for a sequel for what we got, I would embrace a possible new film series as well!
|
As awful as the costumes and Megazord looked, I really enjoyed the cast from last year's film, and would love to see more with them.
|
They said nothing of the sort. They would like to explore future movies. That does not mean they will. Hasbro is trying to expand their movie slate and of course Power Rangers would be considered.
I too would like the cast back. The cast is solid. They can easily get them new suits(and by I mean they just get new suits, don't make a movie all about it) and the zords evolve. Wouldn't mind the Thunderzords getting adapted. |
The Lionsgate version floped. I doubt they make sequels off it. Hasbro version will most likely be a reboot. It will most likely join Hasbro shared universe plan in my opinion.
|
Just keep Michael Bay as far away from this as possible, please.

I tend to agree that power rangers is undervalued. A series of average or subpar toys. Do the ninja steel zords still use the zord builder system? Would it be retained under Hasbro? I wonder if they would work a deal to import the BOJ zord molds or will they make their own?

Looking forward to the next movie!
Suits should stay. Zords likely can be streamlined per the story and de-combining them. So they get slightly restructured as they 'reset' to this capability and further bond to the rangers and what each character feels a dominant life form/zord should look like. So it mixes elements of what they were to something a little more refined and human design influences while also keeping their alien nature some and better integrating a combining element from the current layout. Cast and story is perfect. Seems to be doing well on home media too. Toy sales were great too. So it's mostly finding a story that'll get people in theaters. And a lot of people(myself included) were waiting on the Dragon Ranger movie for theaters. So that'll likely do it. Quote:
They could find a way to keep zord builder, but they'd also want to push the new system, and get people to re-buy classic ones they already bought. No clue on Legacy though if it'd retain it. Again, it depends on retailers and the amount of shelf space they can get for various product to how much they streamline it or have room to expand. Likely make their own with then a licensed port over of the BoJ one for importers. But that really depends on finding a retailer for it. |
Just wait the new Power Rangers movies will be apart of the Hasbro cinematic Universe they are going to try to make.
|
I doubt the new film will be a direct sequel to the last one. It will most likely be an extension of the show, possibly an adaptation of Shattered Grid blended in with the tv seasons. Whatever they decide I do hope they find a way to incorporate the cast from the last film. Just please make better looking zords.

Good. No reboot this time. Have it in the power rangers universe.

While I loved the movie's cast, I wouldn't mind a reboot, especially if they are adapting MMPR again maybe they could make the suits more faitful to the original.
But so far it seems Hasbro does care about Power Rangers. The fact that they say that the franchise is undervalued makes me like them because that's what PR franchise is. |
If they actually continue from the first, I'd be all for that.
I wouldn't MIND a new series, but I actually dug the first and rather see it continue. |

They've yet to reboot Transformers. Yet to reboot GI Joe. Jem actually needs a full reboot and they haven't done that yet. Even back on GI Joe, there are claims that the 3rd film is going to be a reboot, but we actively honestly don't know yet since it hasn't even started casting. (Referring to film, TV audiences are a different matter. On films, they rarely reboot.) So I'd say odds are higher they'd do a sequel. A movie from a series wouldn't capture audiences well enough and it'd likely be either too PG-13 for its intended series audience demographic or too PG if they did the wider material like Shattered Grid. So that's unlikely unless it's a dirt cheap indie film style. They'd want to lean blockbuster film of the summer though. So it's better to potentially lean on the established film universe for that and build off of it. Another reboot this close to the other cinematic would feel too much like the rapid fire spider-man reboots. And HCU inclusion is possible as is(minus transformers), but the HCU needs to go back to the drawing board anyway to re-do the pacing and develop a full vision to better build it. At which point, then maybe reboots across the board, but until then, it'd be kind of a waste to reboot a reboot of a reboot. Power Rangers doesn't exactly lend itself easily to HCU inclusion anyway. To visionaries, Rom, and Micronauts it does. But GI Joe, M.A.S.K. and Transformers not so much. A fully original concept is possible, but at that point, would it matter if it was called Power Rangers? So they'd have to do something mildly referential or recognizable, which then goes back to "why waste the conceptual art already done" on the budget to cut costs, and already have a positive established presence. Plus as a gesture of good faith to fans, it shows a fan adoration and willingness to try and bring the franchise into good standing with better developments from what's there. That they care about the franchise as it is but think it needs better TLC. |

We got mentioned in an article pertaining to this!!

I'am kind of thorn between wanting a Sequel or a reboot.
The cast from the Lionsgate movie had a great dynamic and where a great choice especially Becky G and Rj Cyler. on the other hand the suits and zords where beyond horrible. i would prefer modernized suit and zords that still held some resemblance to the original. the tyrannosaurus and pteradactyl zords where the only one's i got on board with. the others designs where off putting. triceratops was acceptable but the whole extra legs things was strange. If they where to make a sequel i'd prefer if the suits and zords changed a bit to resemble the originals. Even just the helmets. if they where to go the reboot route i'd hope they get a similar cast dynamic. But if neither, i'd love a shattered grid movieverse, like a movie similar to the teaser they used for the comics. it would be so dark and actually be quite similar to other Hasbro Movie's. |

Hasbro has a deal with paramount. They aren't going to screw with that to work with Lionsgate. Espically when they are planing a shared universe. It's going to be a reboot. Also why would Hasbro want to continue a movie that barely made 144 million.
|
I rather if they do a sequel since the first movie only came out a year ago. They can easily upgrade the designs of the zords and suits in the next movie.

If anything I could see Power Rangers making the HCU more likely since, obviously, it's far more popular and iconic than something like ROM or GI Joe; no matter how much you like those franchises. It's finally another star player besides Transformers.

I hope don't be the 2017 sequel.
