I mean it's an episode discussion thread, so you can't really spoil this episode, and you are only speculation about the next episode, so that isn't really as spoiler either. . .

Anyhow, I do like how they defied the old trope of the emotionless inhuman enemy turning good once he gains human emotions. All it does here is make Stalk stronger and genuinely mean. Oops.

While that best match explanation was kinda...off.
I do love Yin/Yang of Love and Destruction..I hope they explain why Rabbit/Tank is so special before the series ends and not just say it's his most compatible teehee.

So we get an explanation on what makes things a Best Match, Evolt's getting character development, a nice added detail about the Smash is shown and they found a way to pad out the show for another 8 weeks which can build enough suspense? This was a good episode

There doesn't need to be any fancy explanation for Dad Build, I find it hard to believe Shinobu would have any trouble making/completing a Build Driver when he was able to replicate the Evol Driver. It's not like it's unique technology.

The initially emotionless logical Katsuragi Takumi gaining emotions via Sento best matches with pure muscle and passion (plus former? alien hybrid) Banjou.

The initially emotionless alien Evolt that just gained emotions best matches with passionate scientist Takumi's dad.

I has feeling Takumi's father will become final villain.....

Pretty sure the main reason why RabbitTank resonates with Sento so much is just due to those being the first FullBottles he used, and them being the ones he's used the most. The more he uses them, the more they sync with him.

As this is a really bad habit of Kamen Rider, I honestly hope not....but I can totally see it happening unfortunately....

This Episode was definitely better than last week....but I have to say, I feel like Build's writing has gotten a bit weaker as of the debut of Genius Form.

First, Sento's attack apparently gave Evolt...Human emotions? Or did he give him a more flesh human body...? It's very confusing what he did, and if it was even on purpose. If it WAS on purpose, why?

Then there's, of course, FRICKIN GENTOKU...Seriously, just WHAT HAPPENED to this guy??? And apparently whatever is going on with him is now affecting the others? Regardless of it being a possible plot point, it's just very jarring, and just feels inappropriate for a character whose father just died recently & had to struggle with accepting his past mistakes and moving forward. (And you're NOT gonna convince me that THIS is what he was like before the Pandora Box influence)

We finally got an explanation on the Best Matches, and it's done in a pretty interesting way. It being tied to his memories of teaching Misora is pretty interesting. And I LOVE how this show revealed how every person made into a Smash was indeed people close to or involved with Sento & Ryuga in order to, of course, raise their Hazard Levels. It all makes perfect sense now, and goes to show how clever the writing for this show was. (Love the way they display this through an imagined "Movie" too, LOL)

I probably shouldn't find everything with Gentoku so funny, but the terrible outfits are great. I was pretty surprised to find myself appreciating the recap, the show is complicated enough that a refresher was nice, and the fact that the very first Smash they fought was connected to Katsuragi's father all along was a nice touch.

Perhaps it's Gentoku's way to fight depression....

No, Evolt has slowly been gaining human emotions over time on Earth, mainly because he was linked with a human for over 10 years, by the time when we first see him as Blood Stalk he had already gained humaan emotions, but they have beeen getting stronger due to the Riders and due to possessing them.

The Genius bottle is negating the nebula gas in his body though, but he did not seem specifically worried about it.

Evolt says pretty clearly what happened. He's been simply mimicking human emotions all along, and has been pretty fascinated with them. Genius gave him real ones, which makes him all the more vindictive.

Build probably has the best recap episodes I have seen in rider and sentai ever, quick, actually add a few more things to the story or helps clarify certain things, and the actors put effort into it.

Instead of blatant shitty clipshows and nothing else that recaps usually are.

Yeah, I went back and watched it again, I must have missheard it when I watched the raw vs the sub, I am not in any way shape or form capable at translating things correctly in my head at this point in time.

Though I would still say he already had emotions, just not human emotions which cannot be compared with whatever Evolt actually is. Unless the theory that is floating around about Evolt being a creature created to exterminate life.

Really liked the explanation for the sillier, stranger bottles -- they're literally just Soichi making stupid stuff up to throw off Evolt, lol. Still leaves Santa as the slightest little enigma, mind.

Sento's dad being the final villain would, I think, bring a lot of the series' themes and his character arc full circle -- a lot of it has been about not only moving on from destructive, toxic elements of your past but also using them to build a better future. Sento's last two powerups have been great examples of this -- the Hazard Trigger was used for Rabbitrabbit/Tanktank, while his past self was used for Genius.
With how much Sento's dad has been prevalent throughout the series and his being an ally of Evolt, I can easily see the next few episodes portraying him as a shadowy third party (or, well; sixth or seventh by this point giving Build's power plays) who's been manipulating things from behind the scenes. We'll see.

I've had to pause the episode about five minutes in because I couldn't stop laughing. FASHION Gentoku is the goddamn best.

(the bedazzled little crystals running alongside his nose were weird as hell. Very funny looking though.)

Have you seen pt 2 of the Rogue Mini-Series yet? I'm thinking he took one too many cracks to the skull. hahahaha



also when Misora loses her sh*t and starts yelling, she's oddly adorable.

Okay, properly finished the episode now. I really like how the show does its character interactions. Most shows would feel like they were completely wasting time with that flashback sequence, but the commentary the characters were providing made it really fun.

The Genius vs. Evolt fights were nice, too. I like that Sento actively prevented him from using the power-up in the first fight, even though it looks like the whole "defeat Evolt with human emotions" plan is backfiring pretty badly. I'm not entirely sure where the show is going in these last episodes, but I can tell I'm going to enjoy the ride.

I get they want to show off the black hole henshin while keeping shouichi's actor around, but what's the point of using base Evolt if he already reach his true/perfect form.

Guys, Gentoku 'cracked' so this manic episodes are perfectly in-character.

And THIS is the problem...He states he was MIMICKING them. I took this to mean he didn't really get to own up to & actually feel his own self feel emotions, because it would be through a human body host. Now that he has his own body, he finally can stop mimicking it feel the real thing. And Genius "giving" him real ones is exactly my point: HOW exactly???

I like Gentoku during the episode recap going "Wait........what the hell is going on with my character right now?"

I assume it was an unintentional side effect of Genius trying to neutralize his transformation. I mean, there's still lot of mumbo jumbo science going on here, but I still think it's a lot more coherent than say Emu "reprograming" ability.

So I just watched episodes 40 and 41, and damn Gentoku is just . . . why do this to him?

This could be very well possible and I hope this is why.

Also am I the only one who is feeling a bit fatigued/tired of Build?

Don't worry. Next week it seems he finally figured out his fashion preference (black leather jacket etc).

The episode title was misleading. They really should have gone into more detail over how the rider system actually works.

Deconstruct the damn thing and explain to us what makes the belt do what it does, how many prototypes were made, stuff like that.

More shows should get into the geeky details of what makes the rider belt work, technobabble is always fun.

Also, using a tank to destroy a rabbit seems......impractical.

I am a D&D gamemaster, I have seen it and I hated it. Referencing it at my table is the fastest way to get into deep trouble.

I play D&D as well. And I love nonsensical things like that. If you stay too rigid with the game, it gets boring. Every GM I've played under has had a wild and vivid imagination. And trust me, there was never a dull moment.
