Kamen Rider Build Episode 46- "The Promised Be The One!" Discussion
Evolto's powers have reached an apex. The only hope may be a dangerous new device. Could this wind up as the Riders' final battle?!

Hopefully Grease battle doesn't end in the first 10 minutes of the next episode, otherwise that's a red flag that he isn't going to die.

Was hoping Kazumi getting a new form this episode meant he'd live, since it'd be strange to kill him the same episode he's promoting the new toy, but the fact the new suit was the cliffhanger, and that the battle's still going next episode makes me even more worried. Sure, the idol obsession jokes go on way too long, but he's still been an overall interesting enough character that I'd be sad to see him go
|
I think my favorite part of this episode was just seeing the cast barbecue and pop fireworks the night before the final battle.
It just felt like a really nice thing to do. Plus a good calm before the storm because we're not stopping anytime soon. |
they are seriously teasing Grease's death...maybe Vernage will save him?
if he really dies...it will be for the same reason why he died back in Kiva lol. Using a powerful henshin device which will kill him... |
Man Evolt's really sadistic casually destroying parts of the city and messing with them. Seeing the shots of people being sucked into the blackhole and screaming for their lives really show's that Evolt could destroy the planet at anytime and just wants to mess with the Riders.
|
Dang....Grease is going to die...
Evolt is truly a sadistic prick. Between bringing back the trio, showing Grease getting beaten by them and at the same time showing humans dying... Yeah, Evolt is a sadist. Evolt needs to be taken care of. |
Kazumi must've took some mad acid to see mini versions of himself just for wanting to sniff "Misora's" towel.
|
I do not want Build to end ! WHY MUST IT END !
"cries" |
I'm surprised no one mentioned that gentoku made matching shirts for everyone and no one wore them. He was so sad.
This was a pretty good build up episode. I really hope he doesn't get the kiva treatment. Evolt is a sadistic ass and I hope it's banjo who Lands the final blow. |
An all around perfect episode. Evolt finally revealing himself to the world, and then proceeding to start murdering it for fun, the whole explanation of parallel worlds (with Ryuga, of course, understanding none of it), the beautiful barbecus scene, and finally, Grease getting the spotlight before his inevitable death. Okay, maybe not inevitable, but pretty damned likely.

seriously im going to rage if misora tells kasumi that she has feelings for him in the next episode because he's dying. she says she doesnt want to marry him, he tries to kiss her and pushes him.
i mean of course im expecting her to get upset because she doesnt want him to die and close friend to her but just changing things up at the last minute is very bad writing, it's very kyoryuger like writing. |
Kazumin is going to dieeee. Saw it coming for a long time, but it will still be sad. Can't believe how much I came to like Grease considering how much I loathed Otoya! I assume the movie for Build uses the whole alternate universe concept, which means we obviously can't use that as a basis for will die and who live in the show proper.
Kazumin having his weird tiny hallucinations of himself at a barbecue is probably one of the weirder things I have seen in recent memory. |

Anyway this episode. The calm before the storm. Evolt charismatically just going "Sup, I'm a space alien and imma kill you all" on live television was great, the scene of everyone running away while the heroes emerge from the masses fo confront Evolt was fucking great, Evolt just randomly murdering people to drive the heroes nuts is incredibly chilling, Kazumin getting called out by Sento for the 'get gassed' scheme was cold, seeing Kazumin suffer was heartbreaking, seeing Gentoku mope about with noodles and shirts was dumb fun and Greese Blizzard. Whew. That is a beautiful form, especially as normal Grease never really clicked with me |

You know, 40-ish weeks ago, I had this to say about Build:
Quote:
I'm telling you, if this were ANY other show, I would say it's complete insanity to think you can mix pseudoscience babbling about alternate realities, absurdist comedy skits that make your characters look insane, and heavy-duty drama with the lives of those same characters on the line, but somehow Build makes it all go together like rabbits and tanks. Wait... |

Great episode.
I liked Evolto casually strolling towards the reporters with an army and nonchalantly asking them if they want to die. He's really a great villain full of swagger and evil. Watching him pull thousands of of screaming people into a black hole just for kicks and grins was sort of chilling. Grease is awesome, seriously...did you see that flying Superman punch? That backflip kick? His fighting style is so awesome and dynamic I really like it a lot. He's really become such a favorite character for me. Grease is just a really awesome Kamen Rider and I hope he doesn't get killed. Misora at the BBQ is the cutest Misora. Just when I think that character can't get any cuter or more likeable,..she somehow gets cuter and more likeable. When Grease henshin'd into Blizzard and the belt went, "Are you ready?" and he responds with, "you're damn right I am." ….just..wow..what a badass! |
sigh, another filler episode...
|
What are you actually complaining about? I don’t understand how you can treat this episode as being a filler...
|
Maybe they are looking at it as filler due to the BBQ scene. Like technically nothing huge happened and it was more setup. Me I like episodes like that as it gives a break to the audience before some crazy huge things go down.

I think what perfectly describes this episode is it clearly being a "Calm before the storm" styled episode.
It's clearly set up so that the heroes at least have one last moment together before shit hits the fan, and it works as a breather in the first half compared to Ex-Aid who kept pumping out the high stakes constantly with no room for a break. |

Is that the one where Poppy sings her crazy song and makes the kid cry? hahaha … I loved that part.
|
The Christmas episode of Ex-Aid is probably one of my favorites because of what happens at the very end.
I got several people into Kamen Rider by convincing them to marathon Ex-Aid with me from episode 1 to the Christmas episode. Screams happened. |
Oh I think I remember, that was the uhm,....'Biker Down!', episode, I think.
I prefer to remember Poppy. :) Poppy makes me smile. |
the writers may pull some new world space-time reason to revive Kazumin if he dies on 08/12

The only thing I'm wondering is, are they really going to merge Build's world with the Main Timeline? Like I wouldn't mind but the explination seemed to imply any other non Sky-Wall world will work. I'm guessing this is just Zi-O set up to have a way for Build to show up but, eh?
|
Okay, so first and foremost that parallel universe plan is completely random and almost totally incoherent. I can respect it as a way to merge Build in with the rest of the Riders and/or as set-up for Zi-O, though. Also, even if they didn't mention it, this ties directly back to the Movie War so I can forgive it on that ground, too.
Secondly, I loved the barbecue scene. It was really nice to see the characters hanging out. It's also nice to have at least one scene where nobody has injury make-up and/or bandages on their face. I feel like it's been months since we've had that. I'll also give the show credit for having possibly the cringiest Mii-tan moment yet broken up by an obvious yet well-executed gag. Thirdly, I was a little surprised that Evolt revealed himself but I suppose this was all to set up the show's endgame. Definitely looks like Grease is done for and I'm sure something will happen to Gentoku on the way to Evolt: I don't see how the show goes into its final battle with more than the core duo of Sento and Banjou. That pairing has been so central to the series that I don't think the writers would want to toss Rogue in there for the final moments (my money is that he gets diverted fighting and/or goes down taking out Utsumi before the final confrontation). |
If I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the death flags than Grease wont die.
If I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the death flags than Grease wont die. If I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the death flags than Grease wont die. If I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the death flags than Grease wont die. If I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the death flags than Grease wont die. If I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the death flags than Grease wont die. If I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the death flags than Grease wont die. Ohmmmmmm…. |
strangely, I don't think any of the redeemed kamen riders will be dead. It's a trend starting from Ghost, continuing to Ex-Aid, and hopefully Build.
|
I don't think I've ever seen a Heisei Rider show explicitly set up the plot for the next Rider show within its own main storyline.
I mean, I could be looking into it wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the route they're going. Toei definitely seems to have more interest in a shared Rider universe/multiverse than they did during the Ryuki-Kabuto days. |
Quote:
Rider Multiverse isn't that new of a thing though. W kind of cemented it after Decade. Out of Heisei era stuff: Kuuga and Agito might be connected, might be two different worlds. Ryuuki is its own world, as is Faiz, Blade, Hibiki, Kabuto, Den-O, and Kiva. Decade is all worlds, but connects back to original too and has other alternate versions of those worlds. Decade's belt itself though is from original Rider world, which means it's same universe as W. It was the multiverse access belt. W is connected to original riders, but different city. OOO and Fourze are too(allegedly at least). Then Wizard is a new world, Gaim is a new world. Drive is connected to original(allegedly), as is Ghost, and Ex-Aid, then Build is a new world. So not counting the decade alternate worlds. Almost all after Decade have been connected except Gaim, Wizard, and Build. Whereas everything before Decade is mostly not connected, except for maybe Kuuga and Agito. Then everything pre-Kuuga (Showa era) is connected except Shin and maybe Black/Black RX(can't remember on this one). Though Shin may have been retconned to be connected to original. This is also why Foundation X in W reappears in most series except Wizard and Gaim, and makes no mention of the henshin gear in Wizard or Gaim. Effectively, Build was their first experience with parallel worlds. Though we do know Gaim can visit Ex-Aid's world and the W connected series. And Wizard and Gaim spilled over into each others worlds too. So they're all parallels of each other too. Then the First, The Next(sequel to The First), and Amazons are their own things. Originally, Amazons was supposed to be connected to The First/Next. But I think that since changed. Not sure. Because of Build being connected to Ex-Aid though, it's already connected to a large chunk of other series by establishing that Ex-Aid is one of the parallel worlds to Build in series. Which means Sky-wall or no sky-wall, if they can find a way to open a way to a parallel world, they'll have access to Ex-Aid's parallel world, which by connections, means they can access all worlds that Decade can as part of that multiverse, and Decade had access to all and variants of. So by connection, Decade has access to Build's world. It's more Decade may not be aware of its existence as yet. Kiva technically might have access too thanks to Castle Doran. Wataru/Kiva main world(non-alternate) did reach Decade. So Kiva's show world does seemingly have a way to multiverse travel, if even only temporary like the time door. So in theory, this means Zi-O has access to all too. Including eras within each. Like Kiva's past timeline and present day timeline(well now that's 10 years ago). Which also means Zi-O has access to the full range of Den-O timelines/eras too. Now what world Zi-O is, hasn't been said yet. Could be the main W/Originals world with Decade, or could be another new world altogether, or any mix therein of any of them. For all we know it could even be a tangent timeline of Den-O. Oh! And the oft forgotten Kamen Rider G is officially part of original/W's world. Depending on how far they've planned ahead, Zi-O might also feature future worlds that have yet to have a series. They've seemingly been planning far enough ahead, it's possible, but who knows. Build will likely merge to the Ex-Aid world since that's the one they've been to before, but it may spill over to any for all we know. Wonder if it might cause a marvel "Secret Wars" kind of battleworld too. Lots of things could go wrong there. But if they merge to Ex-Aids world, then it's part of the mainline/originals. But this is also a Rider show. Odd cliffhangers that leave us wondering what comes next is common. So they could very well end up in some random world by accident too, or Zi-O's world if Zi-O isn't part of the "originals" timeline. |

I tend to think of the movies as side stories. or 'Elseworld/What If?' stories that involve the same characters.
...it keeps my head from hurting that way. |
