Hasbro introduces Power Rangers Lightning Collection
1 Attachment(s)
Hasbro's first foray with the Power Rangers license!
|
Honestly nothing says "hasbro has been listening to the fans" more than them specifically putting the fans people have been complaining about in Bandai Red. Looks great!
|
Wow. Like, I'm keeping my MMPR Figuarts, but I am down for literally every other team done in this style. And damn that Tommy headsculpt looks better than the Figuarts head by miles!
|
As someone who's not necessarily up for paying Figuarts costs, this is a very exciting line!
|
That one image makes it look a lot like Figuarts. Hasbro has been tentatively courting the Figuarts-buying market for a while: I've got a retail-released, black-costumed Spider-Man with sick articulation, swappable hands, and a hole in his back that fits a Tamashii stand. I'm curious how close they'll get this time. It can't hurt that they're aware that they don't have to compete with Bandai for high-end Power Rangers figures because Figuarts gave up on Sentai.
Speculation, of course. I'm curious to see where this goes. |
I like it. But. May be it's time to move on from mmpr.

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes!!!!!! This is exactly what i wanted!!!

I wonder if this line will include the villains and the human casts of Power Rangers in addition to the actual rangers for a much greater variety than exclusively doing the morphed rangers alone.
|
Sweet! I'll wait until I see a non-armoured ranger, and especially wait on seeing what their general sculpts for female characters look like before passing full judgement; but this looks really nice so far. If high quality for decent prices is kept up I can't wait for them to cover RPM, Gokaiger and Gobusters.
|
Homina homina homina --- this is what we've all been waiting for!
|
Oh goodie! One of the "Legends" series style did finish its production cycle in time to be shown off.
Next year they should have even more to be shown to grow the brand out even more too. |
This is hella impressive. Hopefully we can get unmasked heads for all of the rangers, or at least the MMPR ones. Maybe Jason/Rocky heads for Red, Zack/Adam heads for Black, Kim/Kat heads for pink and Trini/Aisha headsculpts for yellow.

The Legacy line is finally dead. Long live something far far better.

So they're starting off with the exact toyline that I think a lot of us wanted them to.
Awesome!! Really looking forward to them getting to some of my favorite teams. I trust Hasbro to be diverse based on Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series and deliver on something I like more than the Legacy figures accomplished... But I also know from those that I probably won't want to get them all because they'll just keep on coming lol. I am already really liking a lot of what we're seeing with just one figure. I won't get this one because I have the unhelmeted Figuart preordered... but will eagerly look forward to Zeo and In Space and Lightspeed Rescue to get Hasbro's takes on them. |

There was something stated in the panel about how making Trini may be more complicated, so there's a distinct possibility that the first MMPR yellow we get ends up being Aisha. However, they did say they want to make Trini.

This is Hasbro we're talking about too though. Some may get repacked with the alternate suit wearer's head to create variant figures. So we will likely see the MMPR suits released with alternate heads as chase variants, same to Lost Galaxy Pink. Turbo blue is going to look straight up weird though. Ninja storm is a question too. Since they have that open closed helmet style. I want to know if key monsters will get made though. Definitely want an Astronema and Scorpina. Ecliptor and Darkconda too. Same to Camille and Daishi. |

Though some oddities or fan centric things may end up being lower run variants or convention exclusives. |
This is sounding really great. I have very little interest in Power Rangers itself so the unmasked heads don't do much for me outside of maybe RPM (though I do think it's cool that they're doing it) but everything else sounds like an improvement over the Legacy crap. Pretty glad now that I never bothered buying any of those, though they also never actually got to anything I'd want to buy. Hopefully the mixed lineups get out some of the teams I actually want sooner. Looking forwards to Alien Rangers, Wild Force, Mystic Force, RPM and Beast Morphers the most, though outside of the last one I can't see them being high priorities.

Lookin good, lookin good.
|
Oh my god. Is that a PR figure, designed by an American company, that ISN'T just a He-Man figure in a helmet?!
Thank you, Hasbro~ |
So my friend's saying that this is basically the main Marvel Legends body? Is that true?
|
Bandai Japan should import the molds and sell them with head sculpts of Sentai actors. Figuarts is great and all still but to have this level of quality for 20 bucks?

No BAF element with this line right? I'm guessing since there was no mention, that's a no. I suppose none of the villains are really too big for a regular release. I have high hopes, as this looks amazing. Finally a great PR figure!

And Villains vary. Most are still relatively Ranger sized. At least the ones iconic enough to be made. |
if they don't have villains then im not buying any of these
unless its a character i really like but lol they're not going to make any gokai silver figures |

Psycho rangers, and some iconic bad guys will be made too. And we've yet to see the all ages line, the zord line, or any other new lines. Lightning probably went into development the fastest and earliest. Likely day of purchase. The rest conceptually had to go through other checks first. We'll know more by toy fair and next SDCC. |

Now if only we can also get some good figures of suits that no one really cares about, like the Lightspeed Rescue team. Or even Lightning Series Megazords. Shame about the lack of ankle tilt, but I think the fact that this looks like an actual person and not some comedic freak of muscle is what makes up for that. |
To be honest, In my opinion, Hasbro's facesculpt tech has already exceeded Bandai's.
|
I'm thinking those hands wont be on hinges for the final product. That would be new for Hasbro. Legacy White Ranger wasn't a freak of muscle due to the shield covering his chest but this is much better. It looks like a suit and not painted on.
I hope to see a female figure soon. I don't want to see this figure look great and then see Hasbro sell a female sex doll. As to the face, I'm much better then back in the day. At such a small scale, I just don't think you are getting more detail without intensive paint apps. The detail that is missing is our imperfections like goosebumps, wrinkles, and various skin tones. You want that then expect to pay 40 dollars more. I can't wait to see some fans do some more custom work. Also white ranger has an inner black ring bandai. |

Spider-man's releases have had it too on various figures. Both 6'' and 1:18th. Other Marvel Legends have it too like Dr. Strange and more. So they've been doing hinged wrists for at least 10 years now. Unless you consider a decade of use "new". Even older, Sigma 6 had them too. This is a production sample, that might be hand painted, not sure. What you see is what the final will have. Outside of maybe some minor deco differences, but even that won't be much. Hasbro doesn't skimp on the details for modern Legends line like stuff. Quote:
