While I love another purple ranger why call her Solar Ranger when purple is not one of the colors that pop up in my head when I think solar. I am guessing her zord my be a dragon from the head looking thing on her helmet and her weapon that makes me think of two wings put together.

The Solar Ranger is the new villain after Drakkon from the looks of it.

What's with the "gender-bending" Ranger colors?

purple has never actually had a consistent gender attached to it, there's been a few male and female purple rangers

Looks like somebody missed out on Ninja Storm. And Liveman. And Mystic Force. And nearly every yellow ranger up until Wild Force.

Hm, thought the cover might have been about the 1963 rangers at first; but then I saw the unhelmeted one. Interesting!

Not gonna lie, that's actually a fanfic pairing I've always been into, so I'm interested to see where it's taken in the comic.

Am I the only one who thinks Solar Ranger's design looks kinda lazy? Maybe it's just me but I don't see much of a motif outside of the galaxy print that makes up the purple. And that just seems lazy, design-wise.

The "Yellow Jason" and "Red Trini" have me perplexed!

While the team will shift colors, it seems these two will get the primary focus!

Don't recognize the army of villains they are facing, either! Must be new comic monsters!

The background of their embrace almost looks like a heart-shaped mouth with jagged teeth, and while a similar monster (minus the heart shape) attacked both in Season 1, the design is clearly not the same! Must be related to whatever planet this story will take place on!

Need "gender-swapped" MMPR Figures, Hasbro! MMPR 1969 started that, but apparently the concept isn't over yet!

Y'know, I think it's just the space theme and the shaped visor, but I'm really getting a Kyuranger vibe from the Solar Ranger...
Pretty interested to see how they'll work in the Dark Ranger too. This has got me hoping for a Comixology sale or something so I can catch up on the series!

Yellow as a male isn't exactly a new concept, even by Zyuranger standards.

The Solar Ranger is a fantastic design, almost like a cross between Kyuuranger and Kamen Rider Meteor.

Between Slayer, the Sentries and now Solar Boom is really coming up with great suit designs. I really would to see live-action versions of them.

Go Go has been setting up Jason and Trini romance since the second issue, so I'm glad that it's going to blossom. Too bad Dan Mora won't be doing the main art. He's the reason I prefer Go Go to the main book.

I'm guessing it has to do with the gold trim and the vastness of space in her cosmic attire as opposed to the purple sash. So she's more the "Cosmic rays Ranger" hence solar.

The gold trim represents that solar panel circuitry too, as a means to absorb that 'cosmic ray' vastness of her suit. At least in design element. No clue in actual story or character application since we've yet to see her in the comic.

Eh, in recent years they kinda have. They'll technically do it, but only in a "here's Chromedome with an IDW head but a G1 body, also the body is coloured like IDW and the head like G1 for some ungodly reason" way. And they seem to have all but abandoned doing comic stuff in POTP and WFCS.

You mean in the prime wars trilogy, which was literally right after several IDW only waves?

So yeah, I think comic material will be covered fine. As I said, Hasbro hasn't been shy about covering it. Including how much they've adopted Drift into the transformers franchise as a whole, as well as did the IDW only version of Blurr before they did TR Blurr. Or Arcee's IDW version as a Titan master, or gave Nautica a figure.

You seem to have it a little backwards. Alpha Bravo was written into the comics because he had a toy, not the other way around. Ultra Magnus came out 4 years ago, which isn't exactly recent. Neither Arcee or Nautica were retail releases, with Arcee being done probably because there was concept art, back in the G1 days, of a Headmaster Arcee. And both of those are around a year old, with no signs of any IDW themed releases for the forseeable future, especially with Siege looking to be Uber-Gen 1 themed. But please, tell me about how the comics will be represnted.

I know all about that -- but that was a fair few years ago. Everything about their recent trends, unfortunately, points to them exclusively doing G1 with nary an IDW reference in sight. You've got look at trends in the past few years, and in the past few years; the best we've gotten is an incredibly inaccurate Nautica as an American boxset exclusive. It's a pretty well-known thing right now that they just aren't doing comic stuff anymore.
I'm also not sure what you mean about IDW Arcee as a Titans Return figure. There wasn't anything IDW about it beyond the bulkier body build, which is just a consequence of it being a retool. It was pretty much just to give fans a Headmaster Arcee like, again, on that one G1 cartoon episode.

And, yeah; characters like Alpha Bravo and Victorion were put in the comic because of the toys, not the other way round. Nautica was the only time a character completely original to IDW's comics got a toy since Drift.

IDW is relaunching so WFC is likely tied to that.
And Alpha Bravo was planned for both IDW and Hasbro side at the same time. So not as backwards as you may think.

As for the others, they're still comic releases that count. But that's besides the point, they haven't been shy about doing IDW releases at all. But the current lineups have been more G1 leaning for other brand unification reasons as well.

Power Rangers won't have that same issue.

The point is, they still did IDW releases/comic characters though, they haven't ignored them in the past. Including having full on Generations waves before the trilogy that were pretty much solidly only IDW.

So the odds of comic material made as toys in Lightning is relatively high.

But sure, please tell me more about what I don't know about what they make and why. That's quite funny from my perspective.

correct if I'm wrong but isn't Go Go Power Rangers set in MMPR's (comic) past? And since Jason and Trini aren't a couple in MMPR (in Shattered Grid, it seems like Jason and Lauren are flirting with each other, IMO), it doesn't look like this romance will last. Don't get me wrong, Jason and Trini in GGPR are definitely made for each other, it's been hinted at and built up really well, but this seems like a romance destined to fail. Unless Shattered Grid decides to multiverse the two series after it's conclusion (since the whole event temporarily made each season it's own universe in the comics)

Color-swapping? Did I miss something? Probably is because I don't know the reason, but I'm not particularly fond of the idea of swapping the colors in the team (even though I got to admit that Blue Kimberly and Black Billy look awesome)

It's probably a bad thing I didn't even know it was the same Rangers just color swapped. I thought it was a different team.

So why are they color swapped again? Anyone know?

Started with the MMPR "Green Ranger Mode" and then went further with MMPR 1969 team (which didn't match color and gender with MMPR 1993)! They might want to explore this further in some capacity, and may add some sort of poignancy to the Jason/Trini relationship! The EXACT reason in this context for the future story is not immediately clear, though they evidently are fighting on another world (and the Jason/Trini embrace has an apparent mouth near them).
