LupinRanger VS PatRanger Episode 42- "Time of Decisive Battle!" Discussion
 

When facing off against the most powerful Gangler to date, the Ranger teams decide the only way they can survive is through cooperation...

First episode in a while that I can say felt like a "VS" Sentai episode. Both teams got equal focus and the teamwork was well-done. These are the kinds of episodes I would expect from a cops vs robber Sentai.

Unfortunately Destra's death did not feel very well-earned. Despite being in the show for 40+ episodes, his final fights weren't exactly set-up in a way that made me sit at the edge of my seat. We've seen this twice before and they still haven't made new animations for Kaiser VSX so I got a splash of deja vu.

The same with the powerful I forgot his name, but the commander in gokaiger. However, despite the slapstick tributes in gokaiger, there were plots. The villains hardly did anything. The "best" villain Zamigo done nothing despite feature in promo and the opening for being the ongoing Lupin foe. I feel like the leader just want his entire gang to die. I thought the boss distrust him and wanted him to just show his worth, but looks like he's the only on he cares about. Destra literally destroy a huge chunk of the city and looks like we're back will Pat2orig and Xmas clip show filler before getting to Noel and zamigo.

This is the first episode of the show in 15+ episodes that actually felt like it had heart put into it, for a season I had so much hope and interest in at the start that has overall soured so much for me over the run this was what the show should have been.

The entire season was promoted as a double team season but it has been clear to everyone for quite some time now that it has not followed up on that aspect, instead treating one team as clearly inferior to the other which in turn soured it for me.

But this episode was wonderful, it had real heart to it and showing a unity between the two teams that many of us have been waiting for, I honestly think it is to late for it to be saved, but this is what I hope the rest of the show ends up being, two teams working together as one.

I feel like there's not enough reasons to delay zamigo and lupin id from being expose. There's always way to create vs drama. The characters are strong except for Noel. Too many foreshadow end scenes with suspicions that becomes nothing the next episode with lupin, patr, kogure, and Noel. We need to get through another Xmas Clip show and look like next week might be kind of a filler that doesn't add much to Noel until the episode after.

I really love the Patren Ichigo and Patren X are uses Dial Fighters to open Gangler Safes....

The Good Cool Kaiser VSX new finisher using Lupin Magnum is really awesome too..

God, I just want...Something to happen. And considering this show's track record, I'm pretty sure the stuff surrounding Noel won't be anything interesting.
...Though, I may be biased, since I kinda want to deck him with a bike, but whatever.

Next episode is a bait, Noel isn't actually a spy, and the Lupin Rangers are cooler than the Pats, then more of the same until the finale.

No joke, I would be legitimately surprised if the Patrangers learn the Lupin's identities by the finale.

You know what could trump that? The Pats don't learn the Lupins identities even after the finale.

Same writer that bought you Genie and Bird from Zyuohger. Kohure, Noel, boss, and zamigo are so thin in character bg and development. I get bird actor or maybe zamigo got stage play like time jacker and Duke from Gaim that affect their filming schedule. Usually, when they hire an actor, they get more development like Juzo or Zed as well as Enter/Escape. A waste of talent. They hired a black actor and have an alpha like Tensou/Goseiger like ally mainly for very brief bg comedy relief side characters. Everything from the character development, land action camera Choerograohy, and acting are good, but the rest are bad including uninteresting zords designs and mecha battle that's just added because its necessary to sell toys. There's a lacking of tension compare to land battles.

That tease of Patren-#1 holding the Siren Striker just for Lupan-X to magically equip it during the explosion.

Have a feeling Noel or former Patre2 is a Gangler. Maybe the original patre2 did die or got replaced by a Gangler copy. There's so much talk about the French Hq, so there must be some shady secrets there. Gangler still only target Japan though given its alway global invasion.

I will hate that. Especially if the Patrangers didn't take it seriously and thinks that the Lupinrangers aren't bad guys because they always trying to arrest the Lupinrangers.

We are not getting a Christmas clip show remember we already had a clip show earlier where Pat1 lost his memory.

I love this episode but this series will be forever flawed not because of the people creating it but because of everyone else.

we had both a spring and a new year clip show all the way from Ninninger to today, so it's bound to happen.

My problem is that I genuinely enjoyed Zyuohger, as it's character development was done quite well and I loved everyone.
Here, though...One character I want to deck in the face, another character is just a brick, another is just a smug asshole who is going through an annoying loner phase (Also, Kairi's "Push everyone away" phase should've happened in the mid 20's, not this late into the series). While the Pats are just shafted in the character development (Keiichiro is still the hot head as he was from the start, just not as quick to boil, Tsukasa still has the calm head on her shoulders, and Sakuya kinda doesn't do anything, as usual).

I wasn't expecting the villains to be anything special since this writer did piss poor with them in Zyuohger, but at least the main characters were still good, there...

There's quite a problem where, rather than being excited for a new episode, I just groan, download it, and basically just sit on it until I have literally nothing else to do before I watch it. I'm only finishing the series because I'm this deep into it at this point.

I'm certain that Kogure Behind Zamigo frozen Lupin's loved ones.

I'd be shocked of Kogure is bad. I know lots are expecting this twist to happen, but Goodie and Noel seems have a long history with Kogure and if he was bad then they would have to been fooled for a long time. Kogure said he works for a descendant of Lupin and I believe him. I also believe that Noel is the person he works for as he is Lupins great grandson or something like that.

After 35 and This Episode I don't think he a bad person just do bad ways to resolve a problem.

From EP 34 Pretty much that Kairi,Touma,Umika was choosen to become Lupinranger not Random.

to recover the collections and protect noel from ganglers. he need find someone who have potential to do about that but how he gonna persuade them if not make some situation to force them become
a kaitou.

The pacing of this show is and will still be really flawed, but this episode, on it's very own, is perfect to me and I loved it to bits. It has everything I enjoy this about this series, and delivered all it's action and character bits with a bang.

Judging by the preview, we might be entering the part of the series where everything starts being revealed and resolved. I don't doubt it's all going to feel rather rushed, but I'm excited all the same!

It's the zyuohger writer, so the reveal for Noel and the Gangler will be like bird and genie. Usually, human villain get a lot of focus and backstory, but zamigo appearances are limited. Idk if he's busy or not, but the villains are pathetic. I have a lot q about zio too, but it's away going to be rule 3 of net webisode 2.5.

Say what you will about some characters in Kyuranger (Lucky to most) but at least I thought it was a better series than LuPat.

I am sure thr final reveals won't be anything too amazing, and I kinda expected these kind of last minute big developments like in Zyuohger. But I've been fond of these characters for so long that I am sure I'll end up warming up to whatever climax is in store.

There were more threats and 3rd party villains in zyuohger. The character and actions are great, but no tension. I hate that every mystery is save until the end despite the villains doing nothing and have a very loose goal/plan. They're not even angry or care to send or scheme something bigger like past villains. A waste of zamigo human actor as well also known as kikaider from the reboot during Gaim run. Noel, zamigo, kogure, Lupin ID, collections secrets and connections with the villain as well as their creations. The plot line of the safe being their true forms. So many materials forgotten and delayed.

I read a huge spoiler for Noel today. Ugh I ruined for myself.
